Meet Gherkin, she came to the sanctuary with her sister Pico. As the runt of her litter she's still playing catch up in size and confidence. She's shy to new situations but once she's warmed up she is very snuggly and loves ear and head pets. She loves being held like a baby and will purr away in your arms.She does great with other cats. She would be okay with kids who are calm or older. Hearing dogs bark makes her nervous but she'd be okay in a home with a gentle, quiet dog. Meet Pico De Gallo! This beautiful girl came in with her sister, Gherkin. Although she's a little shy at first, once she warms up she's very affectionate with her people. Her meows sound like adorable little kitten squeaks and her long, gorgeous fur is incredibly soft. In calico fashion she's particular about how she accepts love. She prefers to not be held(she may warm up to this with time), but she will happily climb into your lap for chin scratches and ear rubs. Although Pico isn't usually a very needy kitten, when she decides it's time for love- IT IS TIME!Pico is great with other cats but isn't a fan of rambunctious kids or dogs(she'd do okay with a calm dog). Alfalfa and his three siblings were put outside at a house in Springfield. A neighbor took them in for a few weeks, as they were way too young to be out. However, she wasn't able to keep them, so she brought them to Paws Animal Shelter to find their forever homes. The four siblings have taken over Kitty Cove, one of our kitten rooms at the shelter, and they're having a blast. They absolutely love to play, especially with fishing pole toys. When those aren't available, they love to play with one another, chasing each other around and wrestling. They also enjoy bird watching at the window in their room. They're all super sweet and loving and would be wonderful additions to any family.

She is so smart and can solve any dog puzzle you give her in no time. Pumpkin's breed is known for its high energy levels, making her a perfect companion for those who love to stay active. She's a regular at the dog park, where she enjoys showing off her agility and socializing with other dogs. With her smarts and energy, she is always ready to learn new tricks and commands. Meet Merlin, an incredibly sweet and handsome mix of the two corgis (Pembroke/Cardigan) originally from a particularly gross Nebraska puppy mill where he had lived his entire life as a breeder. His first month in foster was spent recovering from pneumonia caught during the long transport. But that's all behind him now! Merlin loves home life and his foster siblings; he is super gentle with his foster chihuahua sister. He startles easily and is still skittish but loves treats, dinner, fluffy toys, THE BED and hanging out with his foster ma in her home office. He is progressing steadily with leash and house training and enjoys car rides. Merlin's perfect home looks something like this: * No young children please (sudden movements and loud noises!
