We also have some extra budgie carriers, small temporary cages (to use when cleaning out your bird's large cage), large budgie cages, etc. for a reasonable fee. Inquire. if you have any interest. These extra fees help us to keep purchasing seed and pellets for our rescues. No obligation... _________________________ ABOUT ADOPTING A BUDGIE FROM US: A-Parrot Rescue usually has an assortment of parakeets (budgies) available for pets. Budgies are always coming in. Pictures here may not be updated often as these birds go out fast. You must be open to answering our questions, reading our info, and filling in an Application. Just apply and take your pick when your Application is approved. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There must be an application in our file for each HOUSEHOLD/FAMILY that wants to adopt a budgie. You cannot pass our budgies out to your friends or relatives. We do not adopt budgies out as GIFTS for children, gifts for adults, or gifts for elderly people. We need to meet the actual person in charge of caring for our rescue birds. Budgies are not 'toys' for small children. Sorry, but we need to be clear with some of our adoption rules due to recent issues we have had. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE: (1) NO these birds do not do "up". We get asked that all the time. Most will need some handling. This is a rescue organization and our Budgies are adopted out "as is". Training is up to the Adopter. We have budgie training info papers available, upon request, when you pick up your budgie. (2) We usually get in all small American Budgies, the small pet shop variety. Rarely are we offered larger English Budgies. (3) Most of the Budgies we get in will be social with other Budgies. We put them together for companionship if we can. Assorted ages. Males/females. (4) Previous pet BIRD ownership experience is required of our Adopters. Farm birds are not considered pet birds. We are considering people who have owned budgies, finches, cockatiels, lovebirds or any other parrot. (5) Our rescue budgies will make a good replacement if you have lost an older budgie and you want a buddy for yours. FYI -- 2 males, 2 females, or one of each will bond with each other as cage companions (6) Both males and females have the possibility of talking. Easier to train to talk if the bird is housed in its own cage by itself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Expect a quick interview. We have questions to ask you. The budgie Application can be emailed to you afterward.. NOTE: A-Parrot's PARROT application process is more detailed. Parrots are available to experienced parrot owners only. For PARROT adoption, we will need a proof receipt you have owned a parrot in the past. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Email Fran if you are interested in adopting a budgie at: aparrottoaflamingo@gmx.com (If you contacted us and received no reply, pls. check your SPAM folder.)

Dice

Dice is a 10 month old male Husky mix that came to us when there wasn't enough time for puppy care and energy! Dice needs some consistent training to learn better leash skills and proper behavior. It will take some calm guidance, but he will learn whatever you are willing to teach him. He has a great attitude and seems to love other dogs, though he can come on a little strong at times. A good buddy to play with would wear off the excess energy and make him more ready to listen. Dice will be a nice medium sized dog when fully grown. A fenced yard for this guy will be required. If you would like an application go to our website (https://humanesocietypc.com/) and download one and email it back as a Word or PDF document. Please no Google documents. This dog's adoption fee is $225. That fee includes spaying/ neutering, microchipping, deworming and vaccinations. If you would like an adoption application, please send an email message to adoptprebleco@yahoo.com

Breed: Husky

Gender: Male

Beau

Beau needs a indoor home, no small children or other dogs. Fenced in yard and home setting would be best for him. He is high energy, and would like a energetic couple or person to adopt him. We have a short application we will be happy to send you a link to, it does have a veterinarian reference form so it is good to have the phone number of your vet handy. Every blank has to be filled in prior to hitting submit for it to actually be submitted so sometimes it is good to email to confirm we receive it. Beau is about 4 years old and about 50 lbs . He has been neutered, he is heart worm negative, up to date on his shots. He needs a indoor home ,fenced in yard. He needs to be in a home with no small children as he is a bit timid but seems to do well with adults. He also would prefer to be the only dog. He does moderately well on a leash but still needs some wrk with that. He is so smart you can tell he will be easy to teach. He does need a full professional grooming. We did get the matted hair off of him as he had some on his back area . If you have questions about this cutie let us know. We think he is a spaniel/border collie mix. He likes water for the most part and would love to learn agility and run and play.

Otis

Otis was dumped and networked to us because of some behavioral issues. Otis is picky with the dogs he gets a long with. He does well with them at first, but has a tendency to get bossy which can tend to escalate. Otis also tends to prefer women over men. Otis will need to be an only dog in a female household. Once Otis does know you he is very sweet and loving and listens well. If Otis is the kind of dogfor you or any of our 60+ hounds here at Daphneyland are, visit us at www.daphneyland.com and fill out an application.

Jeffery

You wouldn't know it looking at this bouncy fetch-aholic now, but Jeffrey was nearly skin and bones when he was first brought into the shelter we pulled him from. With a healthy diet, steady wellness plan and some guidance from the vet Jeff grew into the healthy boy you see today! A border collie mix with incredible focus, a strong intellect and an active athleticism, there is no doubt Jeff is gifted with the traits of his working dog roots. At the same time, this boy has a silly side that will have you giggling in no time! When his work is done Jeffery engages with his people, letting them know just how happy he is to be with them with his wiggly behind and his cartoonishly long tongue. Jeff gets along well with his canine companions, though maybe not as much as his off-the-charts adoration of his people. He typically tends to like more playful lighthearted dogs, especially younger females! He can typically be found romping around in the heat of the action when in a group for play, but don't be mistaken, Jeffery is ready at a moment's notice to drop everything for a round of fetch or a chance to learn something new. After being given time and space to assess the situation, Jeff is more willing to engage in some "get to know" time with treat exchange or an offering of a ball toss particularly if it squeaks and will loosen up. He has proven to be able to quickly build trust with new people given the appropriate approach. Because of Jeff's insecurities, we recommend he goes to a home with children 14 and up and no cats please. He would be a perfect match for someone who loves to play fetch.. a lot and enjoys hikes. Jeffrey is into sharing and his greatest joy is working together with his person; whether that's doing agility, playing fetch, learning new tricks or casually hiking in the woods, he is happiest when sharing experiences with you. ___ THANK YOU for your interest in a rescue dog! Visit our website to fill out an application: www.fortheloveofdogsrescue.org We are a very small organization with limited staff, we ask that you contact us at: LoveDogs.BedfordNY@gmail.com We do ask that all potential adopters have a completed & approved application with us prior to scheduling a visit in order to help us streamline the process.

PENNY-Sanctuary (Not for Adoption)

PHOTOS: Virtually all of our dogs have online PHOTO ALBUMS through SmugMug with LOTS of additional pictures. Just copy and paste the link below into your browser (or simply type it in) and then search for the dog's "gallery" by name http://adoptasleddog.smugmug.com VIDEOS: In addition to photo albums, almost every dog has a video which will give you a much better "feel" for his or her personality. NOTE: In the new Petfinder format, it has become quite a bit more difficult to find and to play videos. Please PAGE THROUGH the photos, looking for a photo overlaid in the center with a "play" arrow inside a circle. This icon is white, so it can be difficult to see. In many (most) cases, the video is the last photo displayed as you page through. Just click on that photo and it will play. Please make sure you CHECK ON THE PETFINDER VIDEO ICON, above, to see a video of this wonderful dog! Our videos will include, at a minimum, whatever info we had on the dog upon (or shortly after) his/her arrival into our program. There will sometimes be video updates as well. And in every case, our Adoptions Coordinator can be emailed at ADOPTASLEDDOG@AOL.COM to answer questions and provide the most current information we have on the dog. NOTES: Please see video or contact our Adoptions Coordinator at ADOPTASLEDDOG@AOL.COM. ADOPTION DONATION: $250 Before adoption, all Northern Lights dogs (regardless of whether Petfinder's symbols appear) are spayed or neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, fully vaccinated and tested/treated for known parasites. WHAT TO DO IF YOU WANT TO ADOPT THIS DOG: Email us at ADOPTASLEDDOG@AOL.COM to request an application and get started. WE DO NOT HAVE AN ONLINE APPLICATION - you will have to request one via email. We will review your application to determine if there is a good fit between you and/or your family and this dog. We may suggest another dog or dog(s) if we can offer a better fit in terms of lifestyle, experience, other pets, etc. A vet check, reference checks, and a home visit will be conducted before an adoption can be considered for approval. NORTHERN LIGHTS DOES NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL SHELTER. We are a nonprofit rescue organization comprised of individuals who open their private homes to foster dogs in need of a second chance.. When fosters are not available, we often pay to board a dog until space is available. New fosters and donations to pay for boarding are always desperately needed us. Email us at KATYLIED2@AOL.COM if you are interested in donating or for information on fostering. FAQ: For information regarding our organization, as well as adoption policies and practices, please visit our Petfinder Home Page at WWW.NORTHERNLIGHTS.PETFINDER.COM. NOTICE: In the vast majority of cases, the dogs in our program and rescued from shelters, and Northern Lights has no means by which to collect or verify a dog's history. We work in concert with our veterinarians, and breed and age estimates are based on a combination of professional input and our collective experience. Our policy with information acquired prior to acceptance and while the dogs are in our care is that of "full disclosure". It is our goal to ensure the adopter has all available information to ensure the best possible match between the dog and the adopter(s). If we have identified a behavioral or health condition while the dog is in our care and custody, every effort will be made to correct it prior to adoption, OR the adopter will be made aware of the issue or condition prior to adoption. Northern Lights' screening process is designed to identify only those adopters who are willing, and have the means, to treat conditions which may occur after adoption, and the adopter will be contractually responsible for doing so. However, Northern Lights' policy is to accept any adopted dog back into the program, at any time, for any reason.

Licorice

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Paris and Licorice are a bonded pair of bunnies available for adoption from Last Hope. They were found as strays in the Waterloo area at different times, and bonded in their foster home. We don't know a lot about their lives before they came to us. Licorice is more comfortable with people. He doesn't mind being held, when he's not trying to explore or find a treat. He's always happy to see his foster family, and shows it with a happy jump and shake. Paris is a shy girl, and we don't think she had much contact with people prior to coming to her foster home. She isn't a fan of being held, and it takes her awhile to warm up to new people. But once she trusts someone, she is sweet and curious, and is more than happy to approach you, on her own terms. A few treats also help speed up the process. Being with Licorice has helped her come out of her shell. Paris and Licorice share an enclosure, and like to spend time grooming each other and cuddling. They also like to roam and explore, once they feel safe. They would do best in a quieter home, where they could adjust and get to know their family. They must be adopted together. Both Paris and Licorice are litter box trained, and they have been spayed/neutered. The adoption fee for both is $100.00.

Dahlia

Dahlia belonged to a family who never fixed her. She proceeded to have litter after litter, for a few years. Her litters started to have litters of their own. I was called in to trap all the adults and take all the kittens. When I tried getting Dahlia, I thought she was feral first because she was that mean to me. She was pregnant when we fixed her and we didn't even know. Her owners wanted her back. A year later, I go back to the same house to finish the job (Covid hit so I couldn't finish before that). The owners decided they didn't want Dahlia anymore. So I took her to my house. She was scared and shy, her whole world turned upside down. Then slowly she started to come out of her shell. She has turned into such a sweet, quiet, loving girl. She loves to sit besides you, lay in bed, and be petted and snuggled. She is a very chill cat with a want for nothing but love...and some dry food.

Cookie

UPDATE: Cookie was returned to us on 4/5/23. She had been re-adopted by her original owner but unfortunately, after several months of trying to make it work, they were unable to. Cookie no longer got along with their cats and was wanting to eat them. Cookie needs a home without cats but she does very well with other dogs. Cookie is a quirky girl. She does have trust issues and can be fear reactive but once you win her over, she is a very loyal and loving dog to people. She has always seemed to do well with children..it is only grown people, and particularly men, that she is leery of. She will require a special type of person who can give her space and patience while she learns that she is safe with you. Cookie does not show well because of this guarded behavior but she is a great dog once she trusts you! She walked right back into our home like she never left so she doesn't forget either. Cookie was brought to us with 2 small female dachshunds (both adopted). Cookie is believed to be approx 5 years old and a catahoula/lab mix weighing in at 52.2 pounds as of 5/18/21, when she saw the vet and received a clean bill of health and was updated on her yearly vetting. Cookie was originally adopted from a kill shelter by her former owner. She had to give her and the other dogs up because they moved and were only allowed to keep 2 of their pets so they had to make the hard decision of choosing between them. All of the dogs were super scared initially coming into rescue and basically freaked out. (It was a good thing that Cookie was not relinquished back to the shelter as she may have been put down because of her initial behavior).. The dachshunds settled in after about a week but Cookie had jerked the leash out of my husband's hands from fighting so hard to get away that first night and ran around our yard for 2 weeks, not letting us get close enough to catch her.She was THAT scared! Poor Cookie FINALLY started getting closer and closer as she saw that we were safe and that the other dogs trusted us so she decided to give us a chance. I went outside and left my house door open. Cookie came close to me but still hung just out of reach. She then did something I had hoped for..she went inside. My husband closed that door and we had her! Th transformation was instantaneous. Within minutes, she wanted our attention, bu that night, she was coming to us on her own, within a day,we couldn't leave her sight. Now, she looks for us and follows us everywhere. She can go outside off leash without fear of her not coming back in because now she WANTS to be in WITH us! This girl has been thru so much. We were told that her former owner suspected she had been abused prior to her adopting her from the shelter and she certainly behaved like she had a mistrust for people, initially. However, once this girl trusts you, you have a friend for life! She adores children and is great with other dogs..large and small. She has done fantastic in the house with the exception of getting on our table when we leave. Its only when we leave though so I think she is looking for us. She may have a touch of separation anxiety so a home where someone is home most of the time or where she can go with you would be her ideal. She isn't extractive if left alone though and probably if our table wasn't by the window, she wouldn't try to look for us but this girl is smart! She is also quite well behaved. She walks on a leash (we learned that a harness is best for her, especially initially).I really only have great things to say about this girl. If you can get over that initial hurdle of building that bond of trust, you will have a loyal friend for life! She also is a good watchdog and will bark to announce visitors so great dog for a single person or someone who may not feel secure at home.We greatly advise getting her out and about to get her comfortable in new situations and with new people. Its always beneficial to them not to feel stressed in unfamiliar places and with unfamiliar faces. All in all, a great dog who just needs understanding and some space and patience initially. Love and understanding will win this girl over everytime! If interested in giving Cookie her forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Cookie's adoption fee will be $175 to help cover the cost of her vetting and daily care while with us.

Clyde (senior cat)

Clyde is 13 yrs old as of 2/1/23, but does not act like an old man! He is very playful and talkative. He loves to be petted, and he loves to be showered with attention. He wants to always be around you and will talk if he cannot see you. He does seem to like women more than men, but has never nipped or scratched at anyone. He would love to be in a quiet home where he would be the center of attention. Clyde would do best in a home with no cats, dogs, or people under the age of 18, and with someone who has owned cats in the past. Clyde requires thyroid medication twice a day, and his foster mom gives it to him with canned cat food. Penny

Meet Penny the sun goddess! I’m a pretty 13½ year old Calico with the most beautiful green eyes. I was born near Serramonte Ford in Colma, I was rescued with my mom and sister in 2011 who were adopted long ago. I’m a good girl, I use the litter box, and the scratching post. I do like to be petted-but on My terms. I spend my day at the center looking for the sun, I love basking and sleeping in the sunshine but am happy when the volunteers come in to give me attention. I am an active and incredibly smart girl, but can also be quite independent. I need an experienced cat owner (I tend to favor Men) who will give me the time and patience to help adjust to a new home. I maybe alright with children 12 and over that understand the ways of cats. I prefer to be the only cat in the household.
