Bandido

Meet Bandido! Bandido is the best! He is a young, handsome, friendly, goofy and playful Boxer mix boy who was formerly a street dog in Mexico prior to being rescued. Prior to coming to us in Oregon, he was being fostered by a loving and caring American expat gentleman who lives in Sayulita, Mexico just outside of Puerto Vallarta. You can tell from the photos how much he adores his foster dad. Bandido gets along wonderfully with everyone, loves being in public meeting new people and making friends and fans everywhere he goes. He has playful energy, but don't let him fool you, as he's an active couch potato most of the time! Upon being rescued from the streets, it was discovered that he had a badly injured eye. However, it was not clear how he had injured it, but with the help of a veterinarian, his damaged eye was removed without any complications, and he's back to his playful and goofy self. Bandido's super eager to please his person or people, loves walks and outdoor activities and adventure, and especially chase the ball time. He does great with people, bigger kids, other dogs and even cats too. In Mexico, he was living with his foster dad, lots of other dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages, as well as 12 cats! He's already house trained, walks well on a leash with a gentle leader and is learning lots more every day. He's healthy, up to date on his shots, and is neutered. Submit your adoption application through our website today and don't miss this opportunity to bring this wonderful pup home with you for a home trial towards his adoption. Will you be his hero? Foster update: "Bandido instantly bonded with us and our dogs. He's a bit of a goof and clown, and just loves getting all the attention he can. You'd never know he came off the streets, and so despite what he might have gone through prior to being rescued, this boy is all love all day. We bring him into crowded events, public places, dog parks and restaurants and he never makes a fuss. He'd love a yard to get his zoomies out in, to play ball and just run around, but he also really enjoys car rides and going on adventures. He just wants to go everywhere you go! Having on the one eye doesn't seem to affect him in anyway, and he runs and plays and walks just like any other dog. He'd prefer to sleep on your bed, sofa or dog bed, and is fully house trained. He hasn't had a single accident in the house. We honestly can't say enough great things about this boy and we LOVE him oh so much!" steps to adopting (OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS ARE IN SEPARATE TEMPORARY FOSTER HOMES BETWEEN BEND/CENTRAL OREGON AND THE GREATER PORTLAND AREA. THEREFORE, MEET AND GREETS ARE NOT DONE AT OUR FACILITY. TO LEARN MORE, PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ADOPTION APPLICATION ONLINE AND OUR ADOPTION PROGRAM MANAGER WILL REACH OUT TO YOU WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MEET YOUR NEW PUP!) The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. First click on the "OUR DOGS tab up above, and then click on the orange colored "Fill out an Adoption Application here" button to start the process). Once submitted, please expect 3-5 business days or sooner for processing and to hear back from us. Once you are pre-approved, your adoption application will remain on file with us for 1 year and it can go towards multiple adoptions within that 1 year time frame before it expires. To finalize an adoption you must sign the adoption contract and pay the full adoption fee of $550. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs SDH between $500-$700 for vetting/medical/sterilization, transport and other rescue related expenses. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are examined by a veterinarian before they fly, which includes sterilization whenever possible, given standard vaccines and rabies (if age appropriate). Most dogs are sterilized before they come into our program, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost. Upon their arrival, all dogs are seen for a wellness exam by SDH's medical team. Once the adoption is finalized, any further medical care or treatment will not be covered by SDH, unless discussed prior with our medical team. All known issues are disclosed to the best of our ability prior to finalizing the adoption.
