Oscar
Oscar is the first kitten of the new season to come into SCFOA rescue. He was found and turned in to Solano Animal Care & Control, and thence to SCFOA as an absolute newborn, umbilical cord still attached, and a sister with him.
They were born on a cold, rainy night in March, came in to rescue cold, wet, muddy, and extremely vulnerable... Oscar's sister did not survive, but Oscar’s been a survivor since the first night.
Oscar now lives with a pair of siblings, Bert and his sister Ernestina (Tina) who were born three days later , lso turned in to the shelter cold, wet, and muddy. The three have become great buddies, sharing everything.
Oscar is a purr-bucket, known to fall asleep when held, even by strangers. He's great playing with toys - any kind of toys, including the big kids’ springs and trackball “round-abouts” with their scratchers in the middle. He chases a laser toy with his buddies.
Perhaps because of his early experience, he’s also good on his own, and can often be found snoozing under the couch, always available, of course, at dinner time
Oscar is scheduled for neuter surgery before the end of May, and will be available thereafter for adoption at Solano County Friends of Animals’ adoption events on Saturdays (10-2) at Pet Food Express in Benicia. Oscar can be adopted alone, or with one of his "siblings". He might do better with a friendly cat or kitten playmate.
In the meantime, he may be visited at his foster home in Vallejo by appointment by contacting Solano County Friends of Animals at scfoahelpme@gmail.com,

Bert
Bert is from the second set of kittens to come into SCFOA rescue in 2023, born outside on a rainy night, they were turned in cold, wet, muddy and shivering.
Bert and his "brother." Ernie, who turned out to be a girl - Ernestina/Tina - were taken in by a bottle-feeder who nursed them back to roaring good health.
The three were moved on in rescue together as a litter, although there were two litters to begin with. Of the three Bert is the brightest and boldest. He's first to socialize, to entertain himself and the others, and to figure out his escape routes away from the kitten enclosure.
Bert is quick to purr and good at socializing with people and the other critters in the house. He's good at entertaining himself, and loooves everyone's food, stealing from the adult cats, and from the bottle babies' formula whenever given the chance.
And since Bert's learned how to "escape" over the top of his enclosure, he does that often. He's a dear, kind, busy boy who will bring much joy and entertainment to his new family. Bert can be adopted with one of his “siblings” or alone though he might do better with a buddy or his sibling.
Bert will be going for his neuter appointment before the end of May and will be available at Solano County Friends of Animals Adoption Events at Pet Food Express in Benicia after his clinic appointment. Prior to that, he can be met at his Foster's home in Vallejo. Contact his fosterer at scfoahelpme@gmail.com,

WELCOME TO AMERICA PEPPER!
5/28/23 UPDATE:
FREEDOM FLYER Pepper landed in America on 5/21/23, after a long plane ride from Mongolia. He is estimated* to be about 2-3 years old and weighs 32 pounds.
Be sure to read the 1/22/23 UPDATE below for good information about Pepper's personality from our rescue partners in Mongolia. One additional note is that he was super friendly with strangers when we took him to his veterinary appointment.
*Please note that any age provided is only an estimate, based on veterinary examination!
1/22/23 UPDATE:
From Rob & Kim, the movers and shakers of this Mongolian rescue partnership with Camp Cocker Rescue:
Pepper is a stray from Ulaanbaatar who spent several months at the Huurhun Zulzaga animal shelter. He lived in a small pen of dogs his size, mostly cocker spaniels. He LOVES to play with dogs, but they often don't like to play with him. He plays rough, getting a dog's attention by nipping at their coat or pulling on their ears, and usually receives a growl or angry barking as a response.
If there are no dogs around to distract him, he becomes a different dog. He will play with toys, and he is sweet and snuggly with people. He is a charmer, and will happily lay silently in someone's lap and get petted. If you have a dog that likes to get rough with playmates, Pepper is ready. Otherwise, he would probably do best in a home without other dogs.

Heartly
This sweet angel was born on November 1, 2022. Heartley is a Lab mix and weighs 35 lbs. Her sweet mama showed up at a nice ladies house and she took her in and delivered her pups 3 days later. The mama doggie is amazing. You can tell she was neglected as she is blind in one eye and was so thin. It never stopped her from being a great mom. There are 9 in this happy litter. They have known nothing but love and kindness. They are used to children and all other animals. These babes would be great as a new doggie in the home or a second or third addition. If you would like to know more about our sweet baby let us know.

Adoption details:
In some instances, a meet and greet is not possible before adoption unless we have a foster home in New England available. Available for a Meeting confirms the dog is in a NE Foster home and available for a meeting in the city state provided. Most times our dogs get adopted before a foster home becomes available - and if so, they go straight to adopters home. Foster parents talk to adopters and feel confident that this will be a match before our dogs are transported up. Also if by some chance it is not a match we have a safety net in place as we ask that adopters to let us know that it is not a match and we direct you to take the dog to a foster home or boarding kennel once that is arranged. If necessary, we will ask you to foster the dog until a foster home can be arranged.
Transport details:Rescue Road Trips (rescueroadtrips.com), Pets LLC (petsllc.net) or CAFA Transport will deliver our precious pups on commercial rescue animal transport to designated locations.
