***IN FOSTER***
Meet gentle Jette!
One night last year, when volunteers were closing up the shelter after their shift, they noticed something left at the door. Upon closer inspection, that something turned out to be a someone—a black cat in terrible condition. Since then, Jette has been cleaned up and is in much better shape, and now she's ready for her forever home!
Jette is very smart. No need to use treats to get her attention, as she responds to hand gestures and physical cues if you want her to do something; she even comes to attention when you call her name.! In response, she communicates with a meow to greet her foster when they come home, and she'll meow loudly if she thinks she's not getting enough attention. She also uses body language: a paw placed gently on your hand, during a petting session is her signal that you can stop. Fun fact about this smarty pants...red is her favourite colour—she naturally gravitates towards it (perhaps she's part bull?!).
A friendly cat who likes to play, Jette prefers to come to you for a dose of affection. Once you're in her space, she will gladly approach you for pets or head bonks. She also loves it when you rub her head or shoulders. Bedtime is when she really likes to press up close, and she might even snuggle in your lap! Though as much as Jette loves affection, she is also patient and doesn't interfere with any task you are doing.
Jette's ideal home is one where she would get plenty of affection. We aren't sure if she would appreciate sharing the spotlight with another cat or any dogs.
Do you consider yourself an affectionate person? Are you someone who wouldn't mind a cat as a snuggle buddy? If so, then fill out our adoption form, because Jette will be a great "cat"-ch for you!
