Reagan

Say hello to Miss Reagan. She is 7 years old and we have been fostering her for a bit now. She is mature, loyal to her hoomans, and a bed-hogging dog. She has a choice of 3+ places to rest but chooses to sleep with us each night. She communicates with her bark when she is hungry, thirsty, or wants to go out. She is house-trained and has had 0 accidents with us. She is starting to enjoy car rides - not sure that she went on any before. She did get carsick the first few times but now has no issues. When she is happy, you will always hear her tail thumping the floor, hitting the wall, or whipping our legs (when she's super excited). She has the most loving eyes and will show her love and loyalty to anyone she trusts. Reagan's days consist of lounging around the house, asking for belly rubs, and going for walks. She does struggle with bursts of "reactivity (not even sure if we would call it that) when talking her out on walks. She will occasionally bark and tug passing other people and dogs- we have not had her close to other dogs. However, other times we've taken her downtown Grand Haven when there are many people and dogs she has been okay. She is a good walker and sniffs a lot- she will pull if she smells something but a harness has been helpful. If food is left out on the counter, table, or anywhere up high, Reagan WILL try her best to get to it when left home alone. We do crate her when we leave the house and she does fine, she does not mind her box at all. She is a loving dog who is ready to find a forever home with someone ready to give her tons of affection and love!!

Big Ben

Big Ben is a big boy who is still waiting for his forever home. He is an older guy with a lot of love to give that special someone. He has a beautiful black coat that is very soft to touch. His size might fool you into thinking hed be a good guard cat. Nope, hes just too darn sweet and cuddly. He would rather be a lap cat. But he is trustworthy. If he were a human, you wouldnt think twice about letting him borrow your car, and he would return it with a full tank of gas. But since hes a cat, youll have to trust him with your heart (he wont let you down). His foster parents are KAR Office. The adoption fee for Big Ben is $40. If more than one cat or kitten is adopted the adoption fees are discounted. Please complete our online application form if you are interested in adopting Big Ben. A volunteer will contact you as soon as possible. All Kalamazoo Animal Rescue cats & kittens are spayed or neutered and feline leukemia tested prior to adoption. They also are given medication to rid them of roundworms and checked and treated for fleas & ear mites, if needed. Additional vet care may have been provided depending on the particular animal's needs. All are given distemper vaccinations and depending on how long the pet has been in foster care, additional vaccine(s) may be necessary and the expense will be incurred by the adopter. Larry Love

Shelter Hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 7pm-9pm: Visitation Only Wednesday: 7pm-8:30pm: Visitation Only Weekend Hours by Appointment Only. Please call the shelter at 344-8808 to make these arrangements. Purrlease ensure you have purrmission to have a cat where you live before considering adoption! Updated 3.15.23 Larry-love was adopted last August. His family developed allergies, including an auto immune disease and the doctor determined that the dander from his skin was causing the issue. He was treasured and adored by this family and they really struggled with giving him up. They were very heartbroken and want him to find another loving home that will treasure him the way they did. Larry Love will quickly show you how he earned his name with his endless head bumps, figure eights of love around your legs and that he will follow you around, eager to be by your side. Larry Love was live trapped outdoors, then was brought to AACC. He sat there for sometime, shut down & got an awful cold so rescue was called to help him out. It wasn't long that Larry showed volunteers his incredibly sweet and loving purrsonality. He recovered from his cold, was neutered, tested negative for FeLV/FIV and vaccinated. He started off on the main floor, but was getting bullied by some of the other male cats (also recently neutered, it takes about a month for those pesky hormones to dissipate) so he was moved to the Shy Cat Room for a little while. Now he is back on the main floor waiting to meet his purrfect match. Larry Love is by far one of the most affectionate, loving, loyal and sweetest of cats you could meet. He is wonderful with other friendly cats and seeks out their companionship as well. Larry Love can get a little nibbly at times, so a home without younger children would best for his needs. His ideal home is one with other friendly felines, loving people and knowing he will be living his life safely indoors purrever. Enriching the lives of cats is an integral part of keeping them happy & healthy. Cats can be trained to use a harness, catios can be built to provide them with a safe exposure to the outdoors and tons of different activities, such as cat tv, puzzles, balls etc, the list is endless. Larry Love will be sure to show you just how infinitely loyal he will be!

Macaroni aka Shadow

** PLEASE EMAIL questions, please DO NOT call. We are a volunteer based group and are unable to handle the call volume. WE WILL BE HOLDING ADOPTIONS ON SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS FROM 10-4 PM at our Adoption Center. Our adoption center is located next to CAL Ranch at 232 North Jones (I-95) Suite 170. NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY, BUT WE DO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE STORE. Macaroni aka Shadow is about 2 1/2 yrs old and weighs about 38 lbs. Shadow needs an active family and has a very high level of energy which cannot be accommodated with our lifestyle; a younger outdoor oriented family kids and other dogs would be her best fit. We are unable to give her the active lifestyle that she deserves. She needs someone who is home as she does have some separation anxiety when the wife leaves the home . She would probably do best with kids age 5 and older, due to her strength and energy; she is good with men, but better with women, and adapts to strangers when welcomed by her humans. More will be known about me soon. A Path 4 Paws holds adoption events at our Adoptions Store, located at 232 N. Jones Blvd, Suite 170 right next to CAL Ranch (North Jones/ I-95). Please bring your dog(s) for a meet and greet (if applicable) Please bring your entire family so everyone can meet. If you are interested in Macaroni aka Shadow, please contact dogrescuelv@hotmail.com to confirm the dog you are interested in, will be attending that particular event. We have limited space at the store, therefore we can not take every dog out to the event. This pet is spayed/neutered, has current vaccinations and includes a microchip, deworming and 2 free vet visits, including a Healthy Start Certificate with the VCA Hospitals with a $250 health credit (restrictions apply). Adoption fee applies. Please make sure you have read the information listed on the homepage for requirements and restrictions. Foster homes & volunteers are always needed. Please contact us regarding how you can help by fostering or volunteering for our organization.

Terry

Terrific Terry is looking for his forever family! Terry is an 8-year-old dog currently living in a foster home under our care. Terry entered PAWS ‘ care several months ago with a chronic, open, fractured right femur. Since Terry came to us as a stray dog, we don’t know how or when Terry was injured. However, he likely sustained significant trauma and had gone several weeks to months with no veterinary care. The fracture healed incorrectly and the limb was infected. The only solution was an emergency amputation of his right hind leg. In addition to the femoral fracture, Terry was diagnosed with left-sided facial paralysis which was affection his left eye, and had multiple broken teeth. After weeks of treating his eye condition, he was referred to a veterinary ophthalmologist. Unfortunately, surgical removal of the left eye was the only option.  Through all of this Terry’s bubbly spirit has not been broken. He is a fighter, always smiling, tail wagging, and excited to greet his favorite people. Most of all, he absolutely loves to go for (short) walks! We were able to get Terry a wheel chair which he is learning how to use so that he can keep walking longer. Terry is a huge love bug, always smiling and totally obsessed with plush toys! He's happiest on the couch or on his big memory foam bed. This Senior boy could snooze for hours, as long as hes surrounded by his favorite stuffed friends! Terry has shown us that after all he’s been through, his spirit is unbreakable! He is truly an inspiration and we want to find him his FURever home! Thank you to all that contributed to Terry’s wheelchair and our mission toward animal welfare.  8 year old, male, mixed breed 54 lbs fully grown Good with other dogs -yes Good with kids - yes Neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, current on flea preventative Adoption fee: $65 Adopt Terry  - https://pawsofcoronado.org/dog-adoption-application/

Bruno

Bruno is such a bright little light and a big goofball. He's loving, soft and kind. Bruno absolutely loves to cuddle and be held. Bruno is our little NOTweiller. He's a lot smaller than most Rotties. We're not sure what he's mixed with but he sure is cute. He's about 45lbs and mostly full grown. Bruno loves to run and would be the perfect jogging buddy for an active person. Bruno is great in any situation he's placed in, and does well with other dogs, animals, children, women/men and even cats. Bruno would be best placed in a home where he is deeply loved and cherished.

Butch

Butch is a very handsome Rottweiler mix. He listens well and is very well rounded pup. He does very well with other dogs when properly introduced. He can be submissive when needed. His foster mom says he has been a complete joy to have in her home with her male Rottweiler. Butch loves to play and can be very active but he can also be a couch potato when he wants to be. He adapts well to whatever his humans are doing. Butch would make a great family dog. He knows sit, down and shake. Although he is not allowed on the furniture in his foster home, he would love to sleep with you and lay with you on the sofa. Butch loves the visits he gets from the little girls in his neighborhood and does very well with them. He also loves car rides. Butch is looking for his life long human whether you are single or part of a family. Could you be the one for him? This boy is going to make someone or some family very happy!

Bunny

Hi, my name is Peter, but you can call me Bunny! I had a rough start at life. I was born late in fall 2021 and by springtime I had a nasty eye infection. Even though I grew up with very little human interaction, I was friendly! My eye had to be removed, but that doesn't slow me down one bit! I'm a year old now and am ready for my forever home. I like other cats, am fine being around 3 dogs, and would probably be fine with older kids! I would love to go to a home with another cat or I can be adopted with one of my foster friends: Birdie, Jelly, or Kat! I have FIV, but it's not scary! You can read more about it below. Apply to adopt using the following link: http://bit.ly/lyarapplication All Lucky You! cats and kittens have age-appropriate vaccines, are spayed/neutered, and microchipped. Cats are tested for FIV/FeLV and negative unless otherwise noted. For kittens, it is rescue practice to test mother cat, or ONE kitten per litter. FIV, or feline immunodeficiency virus (feline aids), has a harsh sound to it, but is far less of a concern than its name would suggest. A cat who is FIV+ has the same life expectancy of a normal, negative cat, as long as they are kept inside and up to date on vaccines. FIV+ cats require no more medical attention than a normal cat - upkeep with annual wellness exams and vaccines and vet visits when occasional illness occurs. They sometimes experience dental issues sooner in life than negative cats, but this is case-by-case. FIV is being seen less and less as a major concern by veterinarians. The following links can be helpful to better understand FIV. * FIV information from Cornell University - https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus * Common Myths & Facts - https://www.fivcatrescue.org/fiv-myths/ * FIV+ and FIV- cats living together - https://www.catster.com/lifestyle/cat-health-vet-study-fiv-positive-cats-living-together?mc_cid=c5271e316e&mc_eid=ee3e2e5d5c

Sharon

Hello everyone! They have named me Sharon, I’m the female of the “3 Amigos” ---we were picked up as strays on 5/10/22 in the Bloomville area of upstate NY and sadly no one ever came looking, not even one phone call!! Which the humans say is so surprising because we are such nice, sweet, and gentle dogs. We were found chasing chickens…we didn’t hurt them; we were just playing! I am a female hound mix, about 3 years old. I am currently thin, but I still take treats very, very gently and am eager to please. If you look at my pics you will see I went right up the agility ramp when the lady asked…and she was teaching me this thing called sit?!?! I walk pretty well on a leash, sometimes I pull a little, after all I am a hound, but generally I am pretty good…. a little training and I’ll be a rock star! Have I mentioned I am very eager to please you…I just want to find a family to love me and my pal. And we promise that we will love you back!! They say I’m a nice, sweet girl is that enough for me to have a forever home? The shelter has taken good care of us---medically we have had a full physical and I’ve been spayed and my buddy, my partner, my mate has been neutered. We are very bonded and thankfully they let us share a kennel here….do you think someone is out there that would take us both? Is there someone willing to take on 2 gentle hounds? Do you have love and room for both of us? No one would ask you to leave your mate, your best friend, would they? If you think dogs don’t have feelings…please watch us interact together, you will see that we are soulmates… if you ask “Berg” he will say to take me, and he will be OK…but please, please please…I’m begging you to consider taking us both! I can’t bare to think of him being alone…we have been thru so much together please don’t separate us now…please just give us a chance. Waiting for you at the Heart of the Catskills, in Delhi NY Sharon and Berg of course!

Berg

**Please read with your best Scooby dooby do accent** Hi everyone, they are calling me BERG…I’m the leader of the “3 Amigos” As you may have already read, my mate Sharon and I, along with our little silver labby buddy PETER, were all picked up on 5/10/22 outside of Bloomville NY. We were playing with some chickens that we happened across…but geez those girls had no sense of humor! The shelter has been taking good care of us…we have been vetted and now our current with our vaccines, and I have been neutered. I’m about 3 years old and am a hound mix. I walk nicely on the leash until my hound nose picks up a scent that interests me…then watch out, it’s nose to the ground, full force ahead…I’ve been told I am quite strong…I’m sure however with some training, that this less than desirable habit could be curbed. After all, remember I’m a hound dog…not the Elvis kind! Things for my new family to know….I do have a partner, Sharon, and we really do love each other…happily the shelter lets us share a kennel here…if you watch us you will see I am not exaggerating!! It would be amazing if someone or a family of someone’s who would find it in their hearts to take us both…also not to sound super demanding…but you should probably have some hound experience or just be willing to learn about us so we all an have the best loving arrangement. We are sweet, gentle and NICE dogs. We are eager to please and to learn…are you willing to teach us? Take both of us? We promise not to be too needy as we will keep each other company when you have to go do human stuff…please just think about it…we know we are no longer puppies…but we hope and pray there is someone out there who will see how good we are and want to take us into their family. Waiting for you with our noses down and tails up…at the Heart of the Catskills, Delhi NY remember it’s Sharon and Berg…we are so much more than just hound dogs! Love and slobbers, I mean kisses!
