I have been given all my age appropriate vaccinations and dewormed. I may need more depending on my age, puppies continue to get their vaccinations and dewormings up to 14 to 16 weeks. If I am a puppy, I will have an appt. to be altered (at our vet) my alter fee is included in the adoption donation fee. I have been treated with Frontline for fleas & ticks. Sarah, a 14 year old beauty, is a peaceful girl in need of socialization. She lives cage free with 8 other kitties, and she has many feline buddies! Although she is a sweetie, she does not welcome any affection from any humans, even ones she has known for years. She will approach volunteers looking for treats, but will not tolerate any petting. Sarah will only be adopted out to an adult home with experience with shy kitties. She will do best if adopted with one of her friends, preferably her boyfriend Darius. Sophia, a quiet 15 year old girl, is in need of socialization. She has a stunning coat which she cares for independently, but she doesn't ever allow anyone to touch it. Sophia lives cage free in her room with 8 other cats; she adores all of her roommates, especially her bffs, Darius and Sarah. She loves to nap and snuggle with her feline besties. Although she sometimes follows volunteers around waiting for her beloved Bonito dried fish flakes, she always stays a few feet away. She lets us know, with a hiss, when we get too close. Adopters for Sophia will need to have experience socializing extra shy adult cats, and she will do best if adopted with one of her friends. She should not be around children. Malcolm is a very cool 12 year old dude. He lives in a cage free room with other shy cats and gets along with all of them. He sometimes keeps to himself, but also loves to snuggle with and protect his bff Ewee. He's a sweet guy, but he is very shy and does not like to be touched by humans. A big, fluffy guy, he has the cutest tufts of hair sticking out of his ears. He is playful and enjoys batting his toys around the room. Abigail is a darling female lab/doberman mix born around 01/2011. This sweet girl was found just as a small puppy hiding under a trailer home. Abigail is up to date on shots, spayed, and heartworm negative. Abigail will be good with dogs, cats, and children. Abigail has already spent over FOUR YEARS in the rescue program, and is wishing every day for a family of her own.

Darius arrived at Nine Lives of Norton on 8/27/09. On that day Darius and 5 litter mates were left at the shelter gate. Darius is a very handsome feline who has been at the shelter for far too long because of his shyness. Volunteers are working with him constantly to try to bring him out of his shell, but it is a very slow process. He will approach people for treats, but he still does not allow anyone to pet him. We need that special person to come along who is willing to devote a lot of time, love, and patience to this 15 year old guy. In the end they will have a kitty who will return that love tenfold. Eliza is painfully shy and in need of socializing. She is 14 years old. Uncomfortable with human contact, she stays away from volunteers unless they have the treat bag! She is good with the other cats in her cage free room, and would prefer to take one of them with her to her new home! She used to be found most often with her litter-mate Ewee, who is equally as shy. But since moving into the largest cage free room at the shelter she has taken to hanging out with some of the others in the room; her bff is Abby. Eliza needs a very special someone willing to give her the time she will need. She will only be adopted to someone with experience with shy cats, and should be adopted jointly with another of her roommates, preferably Abby. Adoption hours are by appointment only. Beautiful Inga's life was almost cut short by being too close to a busy road but her journey brought her to Purrfect Paradise instead! Born in 2011, she is a stunning black and gray marbled tabby female with incredible bronze-colored eyes. Loving, smart and agile, she is also very playful and athletic )we think she could be trained to follow commands on cue) but also enjoys curling up on a lap to cuddle, she definitely seeks out attention. Very affectionate! She gets along well with other good natured cats and would be great with families with kids or grand kids. Swiper is a female boxer/bull terrrier mix. She was born aroung 05/2011. Swiper was so desperate to be part of a family, she dug her way into someone's yard. Yes, I said in, not out! Lucky for Swiper, she dug her way into a rescue worker's back yard. We tried to find Swiper's owners, but no one claimed her; and we were not surprised. Swiper might be a bit shy at first, but she warms up very quickly when she learns you are friend and not foe. Swiper has tested negative for heartworms, has been brought up to date on shots, is spayed and microchipped. Swiper does well with other dogs, cats, and children. Will you be Swiper's new family that she has been frantically searching for?

My name is Sir Hiss-a-lot, and yes... I hiss a lot...at people. I love my cat friends here at the sanctuary, but not so fond of the 2-legged giants here. I showed up at the sanctuary on a cold, winter day. I sat shivering in the old barn and when I "talked" to the 2-legged giant I eventually got some food!! I knew there were other cats here, but I couldn't get into their building. I just hung around and in no time flat - bam! I was in a live trap, whisked away to the vet and then back to the sanctuary and finally...I got to go in where the other cats were. I am soooo happy now with my cat friends. Sir Hissy is a good boy, probably just very scared. He is a great resident here - eats his food and uses his litter box and never picks a fight. He just doesn't want anything to do with people. Ziggy and Zachary were from a litter of 5 kittens in 2011. They were dropped of at another local shelter, but that shelter didn't have room for them. Purrfect Paradise agreed to take them in. Both Ziggy and Zachary are very sweet - just a little cautious at first. They like to lay on laps when you sit down with them. Two of their brothers have been adopted so now these boy are now looking for their forever homes. They would make a great pair since they almost look identical and have grown up together.
