They say love won’t pay the rent, but with Sonny by your side, you’ll be rich in cuddles. This 25-lb, 6-month-old Aussie Shepherd/Lab mix started off shy, too scared to leave his crate. But with Sheila, his 60-lb mentor and professor of How to Be a Dog 101, Sonny’s learned to romp, play, and embrace the good life. Now, he’s hoping for a forever home with another dog to continue to guide him along.
Thanks to his foster momma’s love, Sonny’s become the ultimate cuddlebug. He’ll sit on your lap, snuggle close in bed, and stick by your side—because, just like the song says, he’s got you to hold his hand, and he’s got you to understand.
Though he’s still mastering commands, Sonny already knows how to follow his people and dog pals everywhere. Potty breaks? No problem—he nails them outside or hits the bright blue puppy pad if needed. And whether you’re working or relaxing, Sonny’s happy to be your little shadow, snoozing nearby and always ready for affection.
He might be a bit shy at first, but once he knows he’s safe, expect licks, cuddles, and endless love. With Sonny around, you’ll have everything you need—because he’s got you, babe.

**Please do not use the "Introduce Yourself" feature. The information needed to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application. An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application. All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info would be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application on our website (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).
The adoption fee for puppies covers initial deworming, puppy vaccinations, microchip, and spay/neuter at the rescue's approved vet at 6 months of age. Please see our website for more information.

Puppies under 12 months - $350
Dogs over 12 months - $250

*Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters in Southeast Louisiana, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match!

C.A.R.E. has Fall kittens ready to go home with fantastic families (just in time to snuggle up and watch the snow fall)! We have all ages, sizes, and colors of kittens, and all come with spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, FIV/FeLV testing, and initial age appropriate vaccinations.

Rex
Rex is an adorable 4 month old, 6 lb Pekingese mix puppy This little guy has so much personality and is extremely affectionate. He is quiet in the house and happily scampers after his foster mom everywhere. He loves playing with toys and other dogs and has done well with the cat in his foster home. He would enjoy being with someone who is home a lot as he loves company. We also feel he would do best with another dog, so we are REQUIRING this for him.

Introducing the fantastical Meleys, also known as the Red Queen, well....at lease the dragon she is named after is! This smart and fierce kitten is looking to wyrm her way into your heart! Meleys was brought to HSNT from another shelter, so we don't know much about her life before coming to us. When Meleys is not busy getting her beauty sleep, she is practicing her hunting skills, wrestling with her other kitten friends, or simply thinking of cunning ways to get some wet food. She is also microchipped, spayed, up to date on current vaccines, and is already litter box trained. If you think that Meleys would make a wonderful addition to your family, come and visit her today!
