Beau

Please read the entire description before inquiring! Beau is a special boy with special needs who needs a special person. Before Beau came to us, he had trauma to his spinal cord. He is mobile (actually, he's quite fast!) and pulls himself around with his front legs. He's about 3 years old, loves attention and likes keeping busy. He cannot empty his bladder on his own and needs to have it manually expressed several times a day. So a person who has had experience with this, or a medical background would be ideal, but not mandatory. He is a beautiful cat with a beautiful spirit. Remy

Remy is a handsome boy who is loves to play. He is good on a leash and harness and loves to run! He loves to play fetch and tug with his rope toy. He is treat motivated and some of his favorites are chicken nuggets, and frozen dog food in a Kong toy. Remy really need to be the dog king of his castle. He does not do well with other animals and we recommend against small children due to his strength. His adult owner should have dog experience. For the right person, he is the best friend you could ever want. He loves to have his very own dog bed and prefers to get affection when he wants it, rather than having it forced upon him. He knows basic commands and he is crate trained and house broken. To learn more contact us at ihaveadreamrescue@gmail.com or apply at www.ihaveadreamrescue.org/adopt! Thank you for your interest.

She requires eye drops to be administered twice a day in each eye. She has lived in a home with small and large dogs and kids. She is currently looking for a forever home. Bella is wild and silly! Tucker & Tyler

Tucker & Tyler are two beautiful, 6 year old friendly litter mates who are very bonded and need to be adopted together. These boys are very energetic and playful. They certainly are very entertaining!!!! There Foster Mom says she can always hear them running around chasing balls, toys and each other. A cat tree is the number one necessity for these boys as their favorite past time is cackling while watching the birds and squirrels. Sometimes it even seems they are having a conversation together on who could chase and get the birds first. What do we know?!?! We don’t speak feline…Tucker and Tyler are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and are negative for FELV/FIV. If you are interested in Tucker and Tyler, please go to bfdaaa.com to complete an application.

Olive

Please meet Olive, our newest Chewy's Hope baby. Olive came into a shelter down south pregnant and heartworm positive. She was fostered until her babies were born and weaned. Her babies were then transported to a rescue. For whatever reason, Olive didn't get to go with her babies and was taken back to the shelter where she wound up on the EU list. I happened to see her picture late the night before she was to be Eu'd and knew that we couldn't let this beautiful little girl die. With the help of several amazing ladies, we were able to get Olive from Corpus Christi into our hands where she will get the treatment she needs and will never wind up in a shelter again! Thank you ladies for all your help! You know who you are. It never ceases to amaze me what can be accomplished when everyone works together with the welfare of dogs first in mind. Thank you EVERYONE who had a hand in saving this precious girl!

Belle - ISO special home

NOTE from the volunteers: If you want to meet Belle, you must be an experienced dog owner & a preapproved adopter: http://www.houlagansrest.com/Process.html ~~~~ I am Belle and I am indeed a beautiful girl. The volunteers at Houlagans' are working hard with me and I am so grateful. I have spent the past summer learning to trust people while walking on the leash. Trust is my weak point. My home needs to be really special: it will have to be extraordinarily kind, gentle, and patient, but also firm and consistent with my care. In fact, we may need to work together with a trainer to help me completely reconnect with the ancient bond between humans and canines. Things I love to do: I love to sit in and splash around my swimming pool in the summer. I love treats and will take them gently from your hand and I can even eat from a spoon. And if I really trust you a lot, I love a back scratch. I know a home is out there that will "get" me - if it might be you, please take the steps to meet me! Want to know more about fostering or adopting Belle? Please reach out to us at info@houlagansrest.com or submit a foster or adoption application. If your Spam or Junk folders don’t gobble up our response, you’ll hear from us right away! Follow our rescue on Facebook: @houlagansrest

Duke/Jock

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I'm Duke! I am a charming, happy, Cattle Dog mix. I love to go for walks or runs (and I am really good at it!). I also love car rides, stuffed animals, and playing in a fenced-in backyard. I am completely house trained, crate trained , and am very intelligent. I know what sit, lay down , and stay mean, but I could use some more training to work on those commands and anything else you want to teach me. I love to run and play; I have a whole lot of energy, but I also love to cuddle, give kisses and be loved by my human companion . Basically, I just like to be doing what my people are. I am very cautious of new people. I really prefer to come check you out first, and I really rather you don't pet me until I know you will treat me with kindness. I may have to meet you a couple times before I know I can trust you . I can't tell my friends at Last Hope what happened to me before I came to stay with them, but all they know is that it takes me a while to trust people and be comfortable in situations. Because of this, I should not be in a home with young kids or teens. My dream home would be with an adult family who is familiar with my kind of challenges and who has a physically fenced in yard. I also want 1 other playful dog around my size (50 pounds+) or bigger to play with (I can play a little rough so they need to be tough like me) and a family who is very patient with me while I adjust to new people in my life. I am a very loyal companion and I just want to please my humans! Once I know I can trust you, I just want to be around you and will be your shadow as you go through your day. I have also had my DNA tested! I am officially an Australian Cattle Dog/Harrier mix! Last Hope requires that all pets be kept as indoor pets, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives. Our adoption process includes reference and vet checks and a home visit. The adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

Barclay

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi! I am Barclay. I traveled all the way from Egypt to find my forever home in Iowa. I like it here at the adoption center where I'v called home for a few years now. I had a pretty rough time before I came to Iowa. I am missing some hair on my back end, it happen Egypt and we don't know what happened but could be the reason it takes time for Barclay to warm up to new people. I am all healed up and would love home with understanding people. I would do best in a quiet home with my few people that understand and love me. I will need on going care for my skin so I don't get sores. The volunteers keep my skin nice and moisturized and away from the sun so I don't get sun burns. I know lots of commands, sit, down, shake and I am crate trained. I love to play with toys too! I like playing with other dogs but I need a home with no kids. Everyone says I am a very handsome boy. If you are interested in Barclay we ask you to become a volunteer at the Last Hope Adoption Center so he can get to know you! Barclay has stranger danger and takes time to warm up to new people. Barclay will need an owner who has previous experience with dogs who have behavioral issues. Barcaly's adoption free is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip and current vaccinations as well as a basic obedience class at Cedar Run in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, altered, current on vaccinations and year round preventatives. Charles

Charles loves his toys and he is a big baby at approximately eight years old and 70 pounds. Charles is housebroken, crate trained, barks ALOT so he needs a lot of space. Charles is neutered, current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative. Charles appears to be good with indoor cats however, will chase cats relentlessly if outdoors. He would be best in a home with no cats, or a home where any cats are strictly indoors, FURS holds monthly adoptions stands where those interested can meet our four-legged crew available for adoption. Our next adoption stand will be on November 9th, 10 am - noon, at the Southern States in Midlothian. (1200 Alverser Drive, Midlothian 23113) We can make alternate arrangements for meeting the FURS dogs but we would require an approved application for adoption. There is no fee or obligation with submitting an adoption application and applications can be completed online at www.fursdogs.com A required step of our adoption process is to conduct a home visit. Since FURS is a very small, all-volunteer rescue, we can only support our adoption process to homes in the Richmond, VA and surrounding localities area

Smokey very young they gave her a date of birth of 10-31-16 making her a year. The Babies are on tract to have been born when they thought they were 10-28-17. Smokey will be spayed 2-5-18. All her beautiful Babies have all been adopted. Smokey is a sweetheart. She purred and make bread the hole time at the vets office. We got a call that a feral mother cat had new born kitten up in a loft of a carport. We are overwhelmed and we're not taking any cats/kittens at this time but we could not let them freeze. They went on to tell me another rescue said they would come get them and they had been waiting 2 days and they were afraid they would freeze to death. They went on to tell me that several months ago that this same rescue took Smokey's kittens but did not come and catch her left her behind to get pregnant again. The woman is get ready to have major back surgery and they told her to climb up in the loft and take pictures. Well they are safe now, Smokey in not a feral cat she was just afraid of people because she was homeless and several people chase her off and did mean things to cats. Sky (aka Skylar)

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.SHOT! YET CONTINUED TO TAKE CARE OF HER BABIES!!Sky was born 1/15/2017 and is a Stunning Gray & White Tuxedo girl. This Beautiful Girl was abandoned with her babies, and was desperately looking for a safe place as the water was rising during Hurricane Harvey. As she put them on the porch one by one, a kind hearted lady decided to bring them inside her home during the storm. She contacted us to take them because her landlord said they had to go.Paws found a wonderful Foster Home for Sky and her babies until they could be available for adoption. This mother cat was ALWAYS looking out for her three little ones and is now needing a forever family of her own.Sky is very sweet and loving once she knows you can be trusted. She is also playful because she is still so young herself.11/02/2017 Update: Sky was spayed and microchipped today. However, we found that her story of being abandoned was not all that happened to her. She was shot, and not only does the bullet remain close to her spine, we could also see that part of her knee had been shattered, which is why her right leg splays outward. She also now has spondylosis of L7-S1 vertebrae. All of this had to be right before the flooding started because she is still healing. In spite of everything that happened to her, she continued to save and care for her babies! Sky was an INCREDIBLE MOM!!! Now that her babies have all found their own home, it is her turn to have a FUREVER Home of her own.
