Damien

This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an adoption questionnaire! Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match! All household members, including children and other dogs, must come along for the meeting to make sure it's a good fit. If a match is made, we encourage same-day adoptions! Our adoption fees include the animals' spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and preventatives, fecal testing, heartworm testing, and a small bag of food to get you started.

Zya

This gorgeous girl is Zya! She was surrendered to us when her owner could no longer keep her. Dogs that have lived in homes previously typically have some training established, but we cannot guarantee that those behaviors will remain consistent in a new home environment. Zya appears to know a few basic commands such as sit and paw. She lived in a home with two other dogs, Nikos and Nevin, that were surrendered with her. Although she can be a shy girl, she loves to give hugs and kisses, as well as try to make some new doggy friends. Zya is still learning how to socialize, so she would benefit best from someone who is willing to be patient and understanding with her while she adapts to her surroundings. If you are looking for a sweet, smart, and beautiful girl to take home and love forever, Zya could be the one for you!

Bully

ABOUT BULLY Bully is a 1-year-old big brindle boy who loves to be around people! He came to HAP with his brother when his family lost their home and was no longer able to care for them. Bully is the definition of a velcro dog, who just wants to follow you everywhere you go. He loves attention and tries his best to be the goodest boy. He loves his toys, treats, playing with other dogs, and belly rubs. He constantly has a big goofy grin on his face and is such a big klutz that he is sure to keep you smiling as well! Bully has participated in our Doggy Day Out program, where shelter pups get a break from the shelter. Here's what our volunteers had to say about their day with him: "Today I had the honor of taking out Bully!! We went to the reservoir and he sniffed everything and rolled around in the grass! He wanted to say hello to every person that walked by! We went home and he was so proud of his toy and wanted to show it off! We went on a few walks around Main Street and he again was so excited to meet everyone he saw and did a lot of sniffing! He is a super special boy and I'm so happy I got to spend the day with him." - Macky "I took Bully to get a pup cup, then he helped me with my homework, gave me lots of kisses and snuggles while doing it! I learned that he LOOOOOVES squeaky toys! Also he lovesss fluffy things as they grab his attention!! He made my first DDO amazing and makes me want to have more days with him and his dog friends!!! Bully is VERYYYY quiet, he didn't bark a single time I was with him! While he is energetic and loves to jump and give hugs, they are gentle hugs! Very sweet dog and such a gentle giant!! - Jamie **Bully is currently in a foster home, available for adoption by appointment. Cookie

This friend has just arrived to us as a stray. When animals are found as strays, our staff will search for an owner. If no one comes to reclaim the pet, we will begin looking for a new home. Unfortunately, we rarely have a background on stray animals. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and update their bio with more information as we learn. They are pending interactions with other animals until they have been cleared by our vet. Please note that we often are unsure of house, crate, car, and leash training status upon arrival. Maisy from Minneapolis

Meet Maisy from Minneapolis, your very own teddy bear in dog form! With a personality that's as sweet as honey, and a strong preference for laps, Maisy is the perfect companion for anyone in need of a new four-legged best friend. Once she opens up her heart to you Maisy is extremely cuddly and friendly, and her warm nature and adorable personality is constantly melting hearts everywhere she goes! Maisy's playful energy will fill your days with joy and laughter, and her gentle and loving nature will provide comfort during quiet moments. Maisy could definitely benefit from some dedicated training; her enjoyment of chasing squirrels on walks can keep you on your toes, but she is making lots of improvements! She can also get excited when meeting people and be a bit jumpy initially, but she is pretty easily redirected. Maisy is a totally sweet and loving gal who wants nothing more than to please her people and be loved. We don't know how Maisy would react to a cat since to our knowledge she hasn't lived with them previously, but she seems like she would do well living with another dog that can make her energy and zest for play and zoomies! Adopt Maisy from Minneapolis, and you're not just getting a pet-you're gaining a loyal friend, a confidante, and a source of endless love and entertainment!
