Mary Jane

Mary Jane is a three year old husky mix who, if she could speak, would have quite a story to tell. At a little less than a year old, Mary Jane got loose at the home of her family, while living outside, and was hit by a car. Her previous owners came home to find her pulling herself, by her front paws, back to the house while dragging the back half of her body. While her owners decided the “humane” thing to do would be to “put her out of her misery”, a Halfway There volunteer intervened immediately and raced her to the emergency vet. That decision would literally save Mary Jane’s life. After being initially diagnosed with a broken leg and fractured pelvis, Mary Jane underwent surgery and was brought into a loving foster home to recuperate. After being in foster care a short time, it was realized that Mary Jane was showing some concerning signs that her injury may be more severe than initially diagnosed. She had not regained proper bladder and bowel control, and after a week was not yet up and walking. After another thorough exam and full body xrays (emergency vet had only taken partial images), a much more severe injury was revealed. Mary Jane had sustained a broken back and significant nerve damage when she had been hit by the car. Her future uncertain, Mary Jane’s foster family was determined to not give up on her and support her recovery. They believed that with faith, love, and patience, Mary Jane would have a good quality of life and be able to be considered healthy and adoptable. Mary Jane’s foster family continued to provide the love and care she needed to recover, and after several more weeks it was a true miracle that Mary Jane was able to walk again. As a matter of fact, two years after she has come into foster care, Mary Jane has regained the ability to run, jump, and play just like every other dog. Aside from a slight limp, this little lady is the life of the party. She loves playing tug of war with toys and running around the yard with her foster siblings. Mary Jane enjoys going to the dog park, and she has truly never met a stranger. Even the kitties in her current foster home give her “two paws up.” Although Mary Jane’s recovery has been remarkable, she has not regained control of her bowels or bladder. To compensate for this, Mary Jane does need to wear diapers. She doesn’t mind at all though, and is patient and trusting of everyone, making her condition relatively easy to manage. After more than two years in foster care, Mary Jane is looking to find her perfect forever family. She is a sweet and loving soul, who longs to be with people and truly appreciates every moment of life she has been given. Although she is adored and loved by the entire Halfway There family, it is our dream that Mary Jane will find her own home, complete with people who understand her needs and just how special she truly is. Toggle

Toggle is a beautiful tortie. She is very curious and playful and loves other cats. Toggle gets a little nervous around new people, but when she warms up she is friendly and sweet. She doesn't like to be pet over her head, but likes her back scratched and will love to sit next to you and be around you. Toggle is a busy body and always needs to know what the other kitties are doing! She also loves to roll around on her back! Toggle would probably do best in a home without small kids that is a little more quiet where she can thrive. Her estimated date of birth is 7/7/13. **PLEASE READ CAREFULLY** If you are interested in applying for the potential adoption of this pet, and to expedite the process, please read about our adoption and shelter visitation policy on our website at www.animalserviceleagueny.org. Vanessa

Vanessa. Birthdate: March 9, 2015 I was only 2 weeks old when I was found alone in a bucket inside a van at an auto salvage. The van was about to be crushed so I cried my loudest cries! It worked! The man turned off the crusher and scooped me up. What a close call! I'm in good paws with a foster now and I get alot of attention and I'm livin' the good life so far. I've had some time to think about what I want in life as I nap on my soft blanky. A girl's gotta plan her future, ya know? When I grow up, I really want a loving home of my own. I have a brother from another mother that I have bonded with and we need to be adopted together! His name is Tarzan and is listed on this site. You'll love him too!

Foster Homes Needed in Utah!

Cavalier Crazy Rescue is located in SLC, UT. We are in desperate need of local foster homes. We are having a super busy year this year and need more foster homes if we are going to be able to continue saving dogs! We are a 501(c)3 non profit. We are dedicated to helping cavaliers, cavalier mixes and even ‘honorary cavaliers’ and strive to make the best possible matches for our foster homes. We provide anything and everything you need: crates, food, dishes etc. The dogs may not be up to date on shots and may not be spayed or neutered initially but will have surgeries and get vaccines and microchip before being adopted. We allow our fosters to be as involved in the adoptions as they would like, from interviewing potential adopters to meeting the new owners, if you would like! Fosters must be located between Ogden and Provo and be willing to travel to Murray and/or Royfor vet appointments which are on weekdays. We love foster to forever homes! Fosters get first chance to adopt their foster dogs, unless when the foster dog is placed with you we have an adopter lined up, which we will always disclose before placing a foster. We have a foster to adopt program as well, we can provide more info on that. We do NOT discount adoption fees for fosters. Our adoption fees are age and breed based. We do require a fenced yard, and we will do a home check prior to placing a foster in your home. If you would like to help make a difference to cavaliers in need in Utah, please email us for an application or visit our website. www.cavaliercrazyrescue.org/fostering cavaliercrazyrescue@gmail.com

Jinga - In Foster

Hi there, I'm Jinga and I am 1 year old. My sad little story will break your heart! You see, I was adopted from the shelter as a cute little kitten...a dream come true, but it was not my happily ever after. For some unknown reason, I was abandoned, left out in the cold all alone to fend for myself. When animal control found me, I was frost bitten and starving. The pads of my feet and tips of my ears were so damaged. It took the kind people at the shelter months to nurse me back to health! But healthy again I am. Bless my heart, my love for people has never failed through all of this. I am a gentle and loving girl. I enjoy being near and playing with people! I so much fun to play with and just the best natured little girl!! If you think I could be right for you and your forever family, call the shelter for a meeting with me as I am currently relaxing in a nice foster home!! Janie

DOB: August 2014 Arrival: February 2015 History: I showed up with my sister Juno at a local home 9 years ago, and we were brought to the sanctuary when our owners could not be found. I have no major medical problems. Physical Characteristics: Juno: red and white, sleek jacketed; wide red saddle over her back and a very wrinkly/expressive forehead. Janie: red and white sleek jacketed; oval red spots on her sides and freckles on her muzzle. 42lbs NOTE: Juno is on the left, Janie is on the right in the main front photo. Two fun peas in a pod, meet siblings Juno and Janie, who are in the hunt to make your day! They are a bubbly, friendly pair that have such a great time together that it’s almost criminal. Both of them are skilled leash walkers and give lots of darting kisses. They are playful, affectionate, wiggly ladies looking for their first full time pet jobs. Lovely and eager to interact with other dogs, they would love to go home together. A Word from Janie Hey there, what’s up? Wait, you want to come in HERE? Whoa! I don’t know you! Juno, better come over here, where they can’t catch us! I mean, we love to go for walks and play in the arena, and we do have dates for walking with other dogs, but let’s not get too familiar just yet….(a couple of visits later) Hey, Juno! It’s our new buddy!! Great! Here I am, ready for my harness! Can we go play in the arena later? I love to sniff around the edges! What Janie Needs in Her Home Juno and Janie go as a pair! They have been together so long they just can’t live without each other! Plus, they need time to get to know you, so plan on multiple visits to come out and get to know them. Janie will warm up to you first, then Juno gets the picture and begins to trust you. Once that happens, Juno will come and sit on your lap, while Janie navigates the surroundings. A quiet household would be the best, with children who are over 12. Cats are okay. Juno and Janie may remain skittish about some things, but not you! Having lived in our outside pen for many years, they would need some practice at being inside, but our short stays inside here at the sanctuary suggest that is not a big issue. They might need some help at housetraining, too. You will have a bundle of love when you adopt these two! More about us Spring 2022: We are the Dynamic Duo and where one goes, the other follows! It’s a great feeling to know that when volunteer walkers come out to walk dogs, they ALWAYS reach for us first as we are so easy to manage! More recently, we have been walking using one leash that has a double hook attachment so the two of us are nearly shoulder to shoulder as we amble along and explore the trails. Teenagers can easily walk us and we also have 70+ yr old folks who walk us. Now, that’s easy peezy walking folks! As an extra perk, we smile and wiggle a lot and offer up the perfect amount of kisses and nuzzling. We’ve been waiting a while for our Happily Ever After and would surely love to meet you. ‘Til then, look for the double leash attachment and you’ll find two fine looking, happy ladies slowly ambling down the main CFC driveway. Hope to see you soon.

Juno

DOB: August 2014 Arrival: February 2015 History: Juno and Janie showed up at a local home and were brought to us when their owners could not be found. Physical Characteristics: Juno: red and white, sleek jacketed; wide red saddle over her back and a very wrinkly/expressive forehead. Two fun peas in a pod, meet siblings, Juno and Janie who are in the hunt to make YOUR day! This bubbly, friendly pair have such a great time together that it’s almost criminal. Both skilled leash walkers and givers of darting kisses, Juno and Janie are playful, affectionate, wiggly ladies looking for their first full time pet jobs. Lovely and eager to interact with other dogs, these ladies would love to go home together. They are both a little shy, especially around strangers, and Juno takes a little more time to warm up to strangers, but once he does, he is a love bug. These two are calm, respectful walkers who rarely pull. They also love to run around and play together in our arenas. Juno tends to be a bit more affectionate while Janie wants to go check out her surroundings, but in the right environment both of them love attention and will be happy to lay on you and receive pets. They also get along well with most other dogs. Give Janie and Juno some time to get situated and you’ll be shocked with how bubbly and sweet these two are! A Word from Juno Just so you know, I am a nervous sort of guy, but I love to snuggle, so if you show me you want to be friends, eventually I will be up close and personal! My sister Janie is more of the bold of the two of us, but once I am comfortable, I loosen right up! I trust her to let me know when things are okay, and even then I take my time getting to know you. We love to walk with other dogs, and playing in the arena is always fun! Just know, if you want my sister, you had better take me too! What Juno Needs in His Home Juno and Janie go as a pair! They might need some help at housetraining, too. You will have a bundle of love when you adopt these two! Update Winter 2024: Juno is just way ahead of us in the game of "escape the overnight accommodations" at The Scratching Post. This silly, goofy girl and her sidekick and best friend Janie, fooled us once again into thinking we had created a safe and secure area for the 2 of them in the Post Kitchen for night night hours. They were caught breaking out again ...nosing the lightweight fencing upward...so now, the plywood is coming in! We mean business with this sly, savvy team of hounds but it's all to keep them safe!! So far so good in finagling the wood in place. Outside of her sneaky ways, Juno seems pretty pleased with her new outside feeding station which is a wonderful upgrade from her prior one which was just sad and tired. Juno is in good health and while she recently pulled a muscle in her back leg, after a round of meds and low physical activity, she's 100% back on track to figure out her next escape maneuver in the kitchen! Update Fall 2023: Our silly, playful girl Juno is being the most mischievous girl as a hound can get!  Juno is still acting like a major Houdini as she overnights in The Scratching Post kitchen area.  She's smart.  Just saying.  She's now figured out how to manipulate kid locks on cabinets!  Bungees too are flying off secured cabinets and or bins.  She's opening cabinets below the center island, walking through the island and then exiting on the opposite side to hang out in "forbidden territory."  LOL.  Along with this sneakiness comes violated bags of dry food, ravaged garbage cans and the worst part is her bathroom zone is no longer contained!  We continue to try and thwart her sneakiness but at least for now,  truth be known, she's kind of winning this game.   Her bestie Janie who shares this overnight space is an innocent bystander and will never rat out on her friend.   We're nonetheless honored to have them under our care and both are healthy as oxen!  We'll enjoy fitting both girls for their winter coats and watching them partake in the fall leaf color show.   You go girls.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a super sweet hound/pit mix. We rescued her after a lady contacted us that the neighbor kids were shooting BB's at a stray dog. Cinnamon has an eye injury and several other scars from being abused. She will likely be blind in her eye. Despite being mistreated, she is a happy, forgiving girl. She loves to play with other dogs and likes cats. She is gentle and affectionate. Cinnamon is spayed, HW (-) and UTD w shots. Someone will be very blessed if they adopt this angel. You can fill out an application at www.route66petrescue.org. We are at Petsmart at 41st and Yale every Saturday from 11-3.

Teddy

Teddy is a beautifully marked tabby with an adorable face. Taken from the home of a hoarder, he is still very “skittery”, but when held will melt in your arms and purr loudly. Because he needs additional socialization, he needs a quiet, patient environment, with lots of attention. He gets along well with other cats. Happy Hearts Feline Rescue cats and kittens are neutered or spayed and tested for feline leukemia. They are also given age-appropriate vaccinations for feline leukemia, rabies and FRCPC and are free of all parasites. Upon adoption, Happy Hearts Feline Rescue cats are also microchipped.
