Rocky

WONDERFUL boy towards people, tolerant of other dogs for short supervised sessions, but has had different instances of unprovoked aggression to other dogs. We LOVE Rocky but he would do best as an ONLY dog in a VERY responsible home.

Winston

DOB: 2011 Arrival: January 2013 History: Winston was pulled from a high kill shelter when his time was up. 47lbs Red and white and velvet to touch! And those ears beautifully frame his expressive face! We wonder, could this guy be any better looking?  Winston’s beauty goes way beyond his physical body – just ask the staff and volunteers out at the sanctuary, and they will tell you he is as sweet as they come. Winston’s path through life has not been an easy one to be sure.  CFC stepped up to offer a safe haven for Winston when he found his time was up in a high-kill shelter. He had treatment for heartworms and, upon arrival, needed several meals a day to put on some much needed weight.  While Winston loves interacting with other dogs, he is a bit shy when first meeting humans (some of us can be kind of scary sometimes!); but with all the attention and loving he gets at CFC, Winston has made great strides in gaining confidence. Life with a hound offers some of the most pleasant and joyful interactions you can get from an animal, and these dogs are as a rule especially resourceful, sometimes crafty, and often have a sense of humor. Check out Winston or one of his friends in the sanctuary! A Word from Winston “My name is Winston, and folks will tell you I am as sweet as they come. They might also tell you that I can be a bit shy when we first meet, but I am making mighty strides in gaining confidence around folks. CFC has taught me that folks only want to love on me. They tell me I am extremely handsome and very distinguished looking. After all, I am on my third girlfriend (the other two got adopted!) Volunteers I am attached to are greeted with wiggles and jiggles of delight! Even though I have been here for eight years; however, I am still skittish with people I do not know. I love other dogs, and hanging out with them gives me a great sense of security and comradery. Get me into a large arena where I can run, and stand back! I am beauty in motion - my ears fly back and my long legs carry me at breakneck speed! I love playing with toys, too.” What Winston Needs in His Home – Winston needs a very dedicated owner with a lot of extra time at first, because he would need multiple visits at the sanctuary to become accustomed to a new person. Then he would need a stable, routine schedule with lots of love and understanding once home. Even though he has been here for eight years, he is still skittish with people he doesn’t know. He might go off his feed for a while until he knows he can trust you. But then, you will have a dedicated friend! Winter 2024 Update: "Even in my golden years, I can't tell you how rewarding it is to be needed and wanted. As you know, I am the go to guy to help mold and develop pups to be good canine citizens. I hear we have a new litter of 7 that soon I will be working with. YES!! In the meantime, I have a full time roommate Walle who is a bit of a project doggie so he keeps me on my toes as I do my best to reassure him and guide him to pet excellence. It's no fun to just work, work so on weekends, it's not unusual for Volunteer Angela to match me up with Leah for a playdate. She is just my style...fast and sleek, playful and friendly. We've been good friends for some time now and she always helps to reset me and bring out the best in me. I'm still very healthy and with plenty of pending work on the table for me, I'm going to be busy this winter and spring giving guidance to other dogs." Fall 2023 update: "He's just a wonderful dog and working hard daily to better the lives of pets under our care," as quoted by a staff member who routinely works with our dear, dear friend Winston. Winston is in good health and puts in full days. He still has roomie Wille the hound who is a complex, quirky guy under his wing. Winston is trying so very hard to help normalize and settle him in. When not working on project pet Walle, Winston has been recently assigned another super, super shy and overwhelmed dog, Lando to help move him along. Winston knows this could be his biggest challenge yet, but he's up for the task. When not trying to heal other dogs, we make sure he goes on playdates with well balanced doggies like newer arrival, Scooby. What a joy it is to see the two of them equally as smitten with the other as they run and goof off and play a heated gate of pet tag! We adore Winston and can't wait to see what miracle of healing he might bring to one of our pets. You go big guy! New Video May 2018: https://youtu.be/wCJTj-BgJc4

Amber

Sweet Amber has an irresistibly sweet face and a personality to match. She loves to play fetch and take breaks in the wading pool – we think she’s a swimmer! Amber may come across as a bit shy, but she just needs some time to show you how fun and friendly she is. She loves walks and is single-minded when she finds something good to sniff; she would benefit from some leash work. Amber would do best in a calm home where she is the only dog. Included with adoptions – spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, food sample, collar, and post adoption support. Visit https://animalsbenefitclub.com/adopt/ to learn about our Adoption Process and to DOWNLOAD an adoption questionnaire. All interested adopters MUST complete an adoption questionnaire and EMAIL it to info@animalsbenefitclub.com.

Jeb

Jeb is Chocolate male Beagle born about 1/2012.  He is up to date on shots, neutered, and heartworm negative.  Jeb is good with other dogs and cats.  Jeb and Zeke were living at an abandoned water well; it was apparent they had been on their on own for a bit.  A volunteer saw Jeb running down the road and followed him back to the well where she saw Zeke as well.  After a week of feeding the boys the volunteer was able to gain Zeke's trust and pet him and catch him; Jeb had to be trapped as he was unsure of what our volunteer wanted to do.  The boys are a tad shy at first but warm up quickly(they would not do well with young children due to their shyness) this is probably from them having to fend for theirselves for a while.  They wish for a forever home where they will never have to fight off predators, go hungry, or be cold and wet again.

COFFEE

Is it REALLY her? really REALLY? It's pretty rare when the arrival of a pup causes such a stir - but those of us who have worked at Animal Services for 9 years or more were downright giddy to see her again. Coffee has ALWAYS been a super special girl. She first came to us in 2012 when she was just a youngster and her shenanigans won over volunteers and staff alike. She was unabashedly herself and her mischievious self was adopted and returned more than once. Despite the drama that Ms. Coffee seemed to stir up during a time when we were taking in over 10,000 animals a year - we all fell in love with her and were tickled to pieces when she got adopted in 2013 for good. Then, just a little over a week ago, Coffee returned to us as a 12 year old stray and her original adopter could not be found. She is MORE beautiful than she was when we last saw her - if that's even possible. She's sweeter than ever, although she's a little bumpier, lumpier, chunkier (66 VERY overweight pounds) and lunkier. She's got a bit of arthritis, but slow bones keep her out of trouble. She is confident, good with other pups, adorable and in need of a comfortable, soft place to spend the rest of her years. Senior pets are the best. This girl promises to bring you SO MUCH JOY. You don't want to miss out on this girl. Visit https://talgov.com/animals/asc-adopt.aspx to get started!

FOSTERS NEEDED!!!

Please help us save them! We need fosters in the Orlando area. We will provide all that's needed for the dog/pup. Fostering is usually about 2 weeks because they find homes fairly quickly, but this is just a general time-frame. Ideally, we like for our fosters to keep until we find them a permanent home. If you can spare a little room in your heart and in your home, we would appreciate it. Let us know what your preferences and restrictions are as far as what you can/can't foster. Fosters must be experienced and local. Foster homes must be safe and clean! *Ask about fostering for us for community service hours! Thank you, all!

Dixie

Dixie is the sister of Mr. Jinx and Pixie. She’s a diluted calico. Unfortunately, she too came to us sick and thin. We worked nonstop to get her back up on her feet.  She loves to play and run around.  She’s very loveable and sweet.  She is also a talker! She will make sure you know she wants attention! She gets along well with other cats and is great around anyone for the most part. She would love you to welcome her with open arms and grow old with her.

Pixie

Pixie came to us with her brother Mr. Jinks and her sister Dixie when they were tiny kittens. They were very sick and under nourished. After battling with upper respiratory infections and putting weight back on her she started doing well again. She does have some issues with her right eye, but it has yet to affect her. We thought she was going to be completely blind. Luckily we were wrong! She’s a tortie so she has a bit of a wild side sometimes but it’s all in good heart. She likes to play and spend time with her brother and sister.

Senior Eskies

Chicagoland Eskie Rescue periodically has senior Eskies available for adoption! Don't pass up an older dog because of their age, often they are housebroken, calm, quiet, very cooperative, need limited exercise and make great companions. We try very hard to address any possible health issues prior to adoption, so there are no immediate surprises. All of our dogs adopt out with records of the vet care we have provided. All of our dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and prevention started, tested and/or wormed when needed, checked for fleas & flea/tick prevention started, fully groomed, and given a new collar and leash set with ID tag. If you are interested in a senior Eskie please email to:  chicagolandeskierescue@live.com Thank you for considering a senior dog for adoption!

Tang

Tang is an 11 year old male, orange Tabby cat and weighs 15 lbs. If you’d like to meet him and apply for adoption, please visit our website www.safeplaceforanimals.com for our current shelter visiting hours and details on our adoption process. • Safe Place for Animals does not do same-day adoptions and adoptions are not on a first come, first serve basis. • Adoption applications are available for submission in-person only. • Applying to adopt a pet from Safe Place for Animals does not guarantee adoption approval. Each pet is unique and they all have different personalities, temperaments and needs. So we work very hard to make sure that each pet is matched with the individual or family that is going to be the best fit for both the pet and adopter. Therefore, Safe Place for Animals does not do same-day adoptions and adoptions are not on a first come, first serve basis. Each pet receives many applications so we thoroughly review each one, including doing veterinary checks and personal reference checks. There is no definitive timeline on the adoption process; it can vary by pet. Applying to adopt a pet does not guarantee adoption approval. We will contact you if your application has been approved. Those not approved may not be contacted due to the volume of applications and the time limitations of our volunteer staff. However, you are welcome to contact us to follow-up on your application status if you have not heard anything by a week after applying.

Fiona

For my adoption I have been spayed/neutered, micro-chipped with the first year registration included, vaccinated, one year rabies with a Palm Beach County tag, and de-wormed. I am also on heart worm and flea preventative.  I have also been tested for feline leukemia and aids. Fiona came to us in Sept 2011 as a 'boarder', a temporary situation turned abandonment.  Shes a funny kitty, super affectionate and will actually try to bite if you stop petting her.  LOL  Shes bossy with other cats, and would likely be Ok with small dogs.  She is a female orange tabby, a rarity ...
