Cami

Cami is a sweet Russian Blue/Domestic shorthair mix who was born about 4/20/13. Cami somehow made her way into the wheel well of our one of our foster mom's cars. Her foster mom heard her distress calls and was able to locate Cami and remove her from the wheel well. Cami got her name as the car where she was stuck was a Camry. Cami does great with other cats and dogs. She is up to date on shots, FIV/FeLV negative and spayed.  Since Cami had such a rough a start in life she is now wanting a home where she can live in luxury and safety.

Tyler

Tyler, and his 4 littermates, were born on April 22, 2013. They are all beautiful, social, energetic little sweeties. Tyler is all black with large, beautiful eyes. He loves to play with his kitty toys and with his littermates, and also with his people. He especially likes romping and chasing the other kittens. He also loves to cuddle - especially after a rousing game of tag with his littermates. The kits were born to a wonderful mother kitty - Cherise - who was living under an abandoned house in a nearby city. Luckily a woman rescued her from that 'life' before her babies were born. She then came to live with her current foster home, where she delivered 5 healthy kittens. When the kittens were a few days old, an orphan also came to be part of their family. Cherise welcomed the orphan with open paws. Four of the kittens have gone to their fur-ever homes. Tyler and Tobin are still waiting for their purr-fect families to find them. Tyler is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and feline leukemia/FIV negative. If you'd like to meet Tyler, Tobin,and/or Cherise, please contact Eloise, 570-428-2179 or ekeithan50@gmail.com.. They'd be thrilled to come meet you. (Tyler is shown with Tristan in the last pic. Aren't they sweet?

MOLLY--AN ANGEL, FOSTERS NEEDED!

We are heartbroken to report that our Molly, icon of this rescue, is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge, having passed away in the loving arms of this rescuer at 5:50 Thursday morning, May 30, 2013.  Molly was also one of our rescues, found hungry, emaciated, and begging for help in August, 2009, with incisors ground to the gum line where she had tried so hard to gnaw her way out of chains, teeth in such terrible shape they threatened internal organ health, bearing the scars of a once embedded collar, and hairless and callus ridden elbows where she had spent way too much time on concrete.  From "hello" I knew she would never be put up for adoption, because we bonded instantly--that all too often once in a lifetime attraction IF you're lucky to experience it at all.  She wanted so to live and put her abused and neglected past behind her, loving the comforts of her new home, getting to go to work with her new daddy to greet his clients, and comforting and welcoming so many other little rescues who came after her, helping them adjust to life with love and respect from humans.  And, live Molly did, even though she was likely 7 years old at time of intake.  She frolicked in our backyard and held her own with pups and furkids much younger than she.  She had a difficult first year, being heartworm positive (high +), having a mammary gland tumor that turned out to be malignant, and showing signs of "wobbler's disease," with which she also was positively diagnosed.  Thank you, Shirlee and Mark, for fostering Molly through that first year, so difficult for her.  FOSTERING SAVES LIVES!!!  But, she conquered ALL of those things to live her next 3 years here with us as she thrived with good health and basked in the sunshine of immeasurable love from us, her chosen family, that is until she was diagnosed with mast cell tumors.  We were infinitely BLESSED to be her family!  We thank God she chose us to help her forget her past and blossom into a stunning beauty, inside and out.  She blessed each and every day of our 4 years with her.  We miss her, will always miss her, love her, will always love her!  What a fantastic ambassador for her breed, a bully breed, my Rottie girl!  Romp in the meadows by the Bridge, my beloved Molly Bear; roll in the green grasses as you did in your backyard here, befriend all the squirrels you chased here, and take the time in your new world to smell ALL the roses, just as you did in this world.  Heaven truly gained an angel when you left us May 30th!  Thank you for rescuing us from our empty nest!  We are blessed that you loved us just as we will always love you!  We await joining you at the Bridge when our time here is done.  Again, FOSTERING SAVES LIVES!  PLEASE OPEN YOUR HEART AND HOME TO A RESCUE DOG IN NEED.  You will receive far more than you give and you will cherish the experience.  You will mean the world to that rescued furkid!  Your heart will break when he/she leaves for his/her furever home, only to be captured again by the next one in need.  There is never a shortage of those in need, only foster homes in which they can blossom and learn again to trust.  PLEASE FOSTER A FURKID IN NEED!  Contact Diana at dmoore2003@bellsouth.net if you wish to help save a life!

Gigi

Sadly Gigi was a victim of toxpoplamosis which is a result of eating a mouse with a parasite that attaches itself to the brain and invades the whole body. Perhaps you would think again before you would let your little cat out, subject to a horrific outcome. IN LOVING MEMORY OF OUR PRECIOUS GIGI.

Trixie

Trixie is playful and can be very sweet, though she'll let you know if she doesn't like something.  When she wants to, she'll crawl into your lap for some cuddling.  She needs time to get used to strange situations, but when she's happy she loves to chase toys and follow you around. Mostly she likes to find a good perch where she can watch everything.

White Sox

White Sox is a male lab/Border Collie born about 1/2012.  He is neutered and up to date on shots.  Sox gets along great with other dogs, but has never been around cats so we don't know how he would do with them.  He is a bit timid around young children so he needs a home without young kids.  Sox was born into a home where an elderly lady didn't get any of her dogs fixed and she ended up with a lot of dogs.  We are now looking for a home for Sox where he can get a lot of love and attention which he craves.

Issa

This special girl was rescued out of a greenbelt ditch with her sisters. Semi-feral and scared to death, they were eventually caught and brought to us. All pups would not let us touch them for the first few weeks, then progress began. Not trusting of humans they need a special home; experienced with feral dogs, quiet, no kids, not alot of visitors or sudden changes. Issa may never recover from the trauma she experienced in that ditch but that doesn't mean she does not deserve to find her forever home. She is not a normal dog- just speical. She needs to trust her person and not be expected to be perfect, affectionate or play. She walks well on a leash, loves other dogs, loves toys and blankets, and would love to be just be a dog. If you have the patience and love Issa needs give us a call, she may never be that snuggly, go-fetch girl but she is very goofy in her own way.

HOW CAN YOU HELP??

HOW CAN YOU HELP? Just because you adopt dog doesn't mean you can't take one into your heart. There are many ways to help, we accept monetary donations in order to help pay for boarding costs and vet costs; we accept donations of "grain-free" food, bedding, toys and leashes. You can even choose a dog to sponsor in order to help pay for part of their boarding costs. Every bit helps and is so appreciated. Together we can make a difference! Contact us at deannaaarfrescue@yahoo.ca for more details. We look forward to hearing from you.

Chevy

Meet Chevy! Chevy is a sweet little guy who had been living on the street all alone until a Scout's Honor volunteer was able to help him. Chevy had been living under a truck for a while (it was a Chevy) while a Scout's Honor volunteer was working to gain his trust. He kept going every day to feed him and give him some attention. The business near where he was let him come onto their property and provided him some shelter. Unfortunately, because there was a busy street nearby, sweet little Chevy got bumped by a few cars when he was out and about and lost a few teeth as a result. Luckily, he did not sustain any significant injuries, and just needed to eat and get a bath. He got a good check-up from our vet and is now at our boarding facility where he has been doing well. Chevy is an awesome dog, loves everyone and loves to play with anyone! Chevy is a high energy dog, but is also very smart and alert. He needs a lot of exercise and positive reinforcement, but will pick up very quickly on what you are teaching him. He would be a great dog for agility or flyball!! As long as you keep him busy and challenged he will impress you with how well he can learn things. He is a very friendly boy and just wants someone who will give him the attention and structure he wants/needs. He would make a great family dog for an active family with older kiddos. True to his Kelpie breed, Chevy likes to herd and run and play. Check out this video of him just having a grand time running - look at those turns! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L81s-TWX9SA&feature=youtu.be Kelpie's are unique problem solvers and will find a way to do whatever he deems necessary. Chevy fits these traits to a T, and anyone who knows and loves the herding breeds would just adore little Chevy!! He's a real catch!! Chevy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped. Sweet Chevy has been in boarding for months and we really need to find a foster for him while he waits for his forever home! Please consider fostering this little guy, he spent so long on the streets that he needs to feel what a loving home feels like. Our vet guesses that Chevy is young, only about a year old and is an Australian Kelpie/Cattle Dog Mix. Please consider fostering him! If you are interested in fostering or adopting him, please contact us at info@scoutshonor.org

Sunny

My name is Sunny, although Garfield would be a fitting name for me too. I am a very large cat weighing in at 19 lbs. I love dogs, in fact at my foster home I am the only cat and there are a bunch of dogs. I love to visit the dogs and play with them. My life has not always been this good. I had a home when I was a kitten and then my family moved away and left me behind. I became a feral cat that ran around the neighborhood until, I walked into this humane cat trap and I was taken to be neutered and have the wounds on my head treated from all of my past fights. I needed to be kept in for a few days after to recover from all of that and to my rescuers surprise I wasn't a feral kitty anymore. I love to be petted, scratched, cuddled, and held. I love to play with toys, sit on my cat tree and I am very good with using my litter box. Since, I do have a history of fighting I need to be an only kitty. I do have a very big meow and use it when I want something like attention or food. I am positive for FIV and will never be allowed out of the house as I can infect other kitties. FIV will not infect people and I can live a normal cat life. I have been examined by a vet. many times and there are no signs of the FIV except for my blood test. Unlike HIV, FIV requires no treatment in cats. I just need to be kept in the house away from other kitties and if I get an infection I need to be given antibiotics to help me fight it off, otherwise I am like any other cat. If you are interested in adopting me, please email for an application.

Tippy

Approx. 4 years old. Tippy is a doll.. we call him Tippy because he was trapped.. vet thought he was a feral and tipped the ear. After a few weeks @ the shelter he was loving, being held and cuddled. He has become a little standoffish, because he has the freedom of the cat room. If he is in the kennel or a box relaxing, he will let you rub and love him.......but it's according to the way he feels at the moment.

Sprite

Sprite came in with her sister when their owner was told by their landlord to get rid of the cats. She is 5 years old and has spent just about all her life here. She is a bit shy, but should warm up once she gets settled into her new home. She loves to sleep tucked away in one of the cat hideaways - it makes her feel more secure. Sprite resides in the rear colony room at Baywater and would love to have some visitors.
