Fargo

Fargo IS AVAILALBE (updated 08-21-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Fargo, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21785&name=FargoFargo is a true working dog who is motivated by his stomach and toys. He's ridiculously smart and obedience trained, but wasn't socialized prior to his rescue. He's spent his time with us training and now just needs someone who will help him transition what he's learned into becoming part of a family. We rescued Fargo from the OC Shelter and he's proven to be a smarty pants with a nose that never stops. He looks to have had no structure in his previous home and will do best with someone who has large breed experience (working dog experience a plus!) and understands dogs who need proper introduction to new people. He's a big puppy and can be fearfull around fast moving people whom he doesn't already know, so a low traffic home with no children is recommended. He is, however, super food motivated and follows direction like a well oiled machine once hes bonded with you, so he just needs to find someone who will work with him and allow him to grow into a perfectly balanced boy. Fargo loves his toys, his walks, is obedience trained, and a super quick study. He knows sit, down, stay, come, heel, swing, place, back, drop it, slip, hupf, nein, and then some. This handsome boy is ready to move into a home of his own!The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

Atlas

Very animated and friendly, loves attention. Very playful and happy, but also has a mind of his own and would be best with a patient and experienced owner. He likes to romp around the property with his buddy, a female husky, and would probably be best in a home where he can stay outside as that is his preference. He has played well with most other dogs (mostly female) but will need to meet & greet with potential new home if there is another dog.

Yvette

Yvette is a very sweet cat. She is shy and timid at first but actually once she lets her guard down adores affection and being pet. Will need someone that understands what it means to be shy and the reward will be great! Once you capture Yvette's heart her purr is infectious and you can just feel her appreciation and love. Give this girl a chance and you will not be disappointed. A home that is not grand central station would be the best fit. Yvette likes other cats and seems to get along well. She is a cats cat and has shown that she would like to have another cat in her adoptive home.(Yvette does have a best friend in her foster home, Gumdrop). We only adopt to people in the St. Louis METRO area. Status: Hospice Location: Florida BIO: Elsa estimated to be 15 yrs old, she was found as a stray in the Tampa Bay area and had clearly suffered from neglect for a long period of time. She was completely forlorn and had no spirit left. She was also suffering from an inability to produce tears and her eyes were so crusted over she had become accustomed to sleeping with her eyes open because she couldn't shut her eyelids. (this photo in comments) These days Elsa is a happy dog! She runs around the house and yard, wags her tail and her NEW favorite thing is getting KISSES on the cheek from her foster mom! You can help sponsor her medical care by visiting http://www.igrescue.com/html/donate/financial_contributions.shtml Make sure to list that you would like your donation to assist Elsa-Gulf Coast Rescue *Please note that Elsa is considered to be Hospice, due to her age and the severity of her eyes we have since had her enucleated (removal of both eyes) to help her remain comfortable. We hope remaining in her foster home she will stay with routine and comfortable.

Beau and Rio are a strongly bonded macaw pair looking for their perfect home. They have been working diligently on how to interact with people safely and appropriately. Due to the nature of their bond, they must be adopted together. Beau and Rio have advanced behavioral training and needs, so large bird experience is highly recommended. Stormy

Last Weigh-in: 80 lbs Foster Update 11/2020: Stormy prefers to be the only pup. Foster Update 7/2020: While Stormy is kid-friendly, she would thrive best in a home with older children (11 years + up). Foster Update 2/21/2019: Stormy's foster says she is highly trainable and very smart. She does well in a car, likes to fetch, and loves her toys. He also describes her as obedient, playful, affectionate, and goofy. Foster Update 11/26/2019: Stormy is super sweet, but she gets a little mouthy when she gets excited. We are working on it, but it is a work in progress. She has not had an accident in the house and is really well crate trained. It's hard to gauge her true energy level because she is heartworm positive. She is super smart and has learned her name, sit, come, down, and bed in a matter of three weeks. She will be a great family dog, not to mention she is a wonderful guard dog. She has a deep, ferocious bark, but little do they know, she would kill them with kisses. Stormy is house trained and crate trained. She is moderately active, and it is unknown how she would do with cats. -------------------------------------------- October 7, 2019, in Memphis, was rough. We had experienced incredibly hot temperatures for the prior month and no rain. NO RAIN for 3 + weeks. On this night, it rained almost 5 inches. It was the kind of storm that sneaks up on you - the sky opens up with rain, and next thing you know, the streets are flooded. The sky lit up all night long with lightning. And thunder. Rolls of thunder from far away and then blasts that woke up the whole house. This went on for several hours throughout the night and into the early morning hours. That being the case, we were absolutely devastated when our volunteer who reads the intake emails (yes, everyone at Streetdog Foundation is a volunteer) opened the first email and saw this picture. This sweet pup, who had recently given birth, was abandoned in a wire crate that night. Our hearts were shattered when we realized that she was left outside with no cover and no protection from the torrential downpour. No one to comfort or love her while the storms rumbled on all night. She was dumped with nothing but this crate and the tattered collar around her neck. We were full. Every foster in our program had a foster pup (or two or three) in their home. We even had several dogs in boarding. But we had to say yes to this amazing girl. We had to have a chance to prove to her that not all humans are bad and that she is worthy of love. She received a full checkup by Doc at Grace Animal Hospital. This sweet girl tested positive for heartworms and had never been spayed. Well, we are on top of it and getting her healthy! As soon as those nasty heartworms are gone, this girl will be ready to settle into her forever home! Forever Safe. Forever Loved. Forever Dry. *Must live in the Greater Memphis area to adopt. * Behaviors not listed have yet to be tested.

Stone

***FENCED YARD REQUIRED*** “My name is Stone, and I couldn't be more excited to find my forever home. Life has been kind of hard for me since I was born, but I keep hoping I'll find my family someday. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I'd be the perfect companion for you. First and foremost, let's talk about my charming personality. I'm friendly, playful, and I love meeting new people. I have this innate ability to make everyone around me feel special and loved. The staff and volunteers here have been showering me with affection, and I've been lapping it up! I thrive on love and attention, and I can't wait to shower you with my affectionate nature. Cuddles, snuggles, and kisses are some of my specialties – I’m just a boy who wants to give and get lots of love. I'm truly enjoying my new chapter, and I can't wait to bring that same joy and happiness to your home. One of my favorite activities is going on walks- it also allows me to explore the world around me and also spend time with people. I'm a curious boy who loves discovering new scents and sights. My favorite season is Fall - I like the smell of leaves and I look great in doggie sweaters (check out my tie in my profile pictures – I dress up well!) Check out my video in my profile where I sit attentively waiting for the command from my trainer. In summary, I'm a gentle, kind, and well-mannered boy who walks well on a leash and knows how to take treats gently. I'm the calm and quiet type, perfect for those moments when you need a peaceful presence by your side. I'm eager to be your loyal and loving companion, and I promise to bring joy, laughter, and endless love into your life. I'm counting down the days until we meet!" Stone's date of birth is 12/6/2017 and he weighs about 50 pounds. Stone spent some time in a foster home and his foster mom told us this about him, "Stone is so gentle and kind. He walks well on a leash, takes treats really gently, and is just a calm, quiet boy. He is very leery of men, so he would do best in a home with only women." For more videos of this awesome pet, check out our YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeG4XqjKtZFAYVM6EFV4FRQ. All of our rescues are rehabilitated and once healthy are available for an adoption fee of $95 for cats and dogs. This fee includes: • Extensive medical health check by a licensed veterinarian • Up to date on all vaccinations. Puppies/kittens may require some additional booster shots which we will pay for if coordinated through us and our veterinarian. • Spayed/Neutered • Microchipped • 30-day pet health guarantee (*Must follow process provided at time of adoption.) • 30-day money back guarantee Our goal is to find loving homes for all our rescued animals. Because we care about our rescues and their future, some animals have certain new family requirements before they can be released to their new home. Requirements for adoption could include the following: • Fenced yard (required for most dogs) (no invisible fences) and home inspection for all animals; we will complete an onsite fence/home check prior to completing the adoption • Veterinary reference for previous pet owners (must be/have been current on vaccinations and heartworm prevention) • If no previous veterinary history, purchase of 3 month heartworm prevention • If renting, verification with Landlord on acceptability of pets and any restrictions, pet deposit, etc. • Meet and greet with current pets to ensure compatibility Note: We will call your current/previous veterinarian to verify that you have a history of providing vaccinations and heartworm prevention for your animal(s). We do a physical home/fence inspection prior to completing the adoption if a fence is required.
