Nala (aka momma)

Momma Nala is a beautiful, sweet, mellow girl who was born around 06/2016. She is a little on the shy side, but enjoys attention and likes to be pet. Her ideal home would be calm and have cat trees or shelves for her to hang out on. She would do fine as the only fur baby in the home or in a home with other cats. Nala's adoption fee is $125.00. We require an approved application prior to scheduling any meet and greets. Applications can be found on www.ABRAangels.com or you can request one at ABRAangels@gmail.com. Adoption includes spay/neuter, rabies and deworming and vaccines. WE DO NOT ALLOW OUR CATS OR KITTENS TO BE DECLAWED!!!! Declawing is an owner convenience and serves no benefit to the cat. If you adopt a kitten/kitten and we find out it has been declawed, not only will you lose your adoption fee, but we have the right to reclaim the cat.

Toni is often the first one in bed at night and will keep you company while you fall asleep. She won’t stay there though but will come back in the morning. Toni has the softest fur and loves being petted. She would also prefer a home without small children. Apollo

Apollo is a big boy with the personality of a tiny cat. He has a tiny meow and often is shy around new people. He does love a good head rub and will be your best friend when it's treat time. Due to getting frequent meds at a young age for dental issues, he is not quite a lap cat at the moment - though he has the potential with the "purrfect" patient adopter. Since his surgery, his dental issues are resolved and he has ever so slowly started to remember how great people are at giving love & affection versus medicine. Apollo does good around most other cats with his preference being younger kittens or other "big boys" like him who are non-dominant and easy-going. He prefers to have a kitty friend close by versus being by himself. Apollo would just need a patient adopter to let him show love at his own pace as well as someone who will make sure he has annual vet visits to keep a check on his dental health as well as help him lose a pound of two. The adoption fee is $100 for Apollo, and he neutered, up to date on shots, Felv/FIV negative, microchipped, and litter box trained. Inquire here via Petfinder or email catsofhpps@gmail.com for more information about Apollo & our adoption process. You can also complete an online application at https://forms.gle/Ciy7XiJeGmhVbkPG

Kate

Meet Kate: Kate is getting extra special attention from our volunteers. 3 years ago she and her bff Oscar were adopted together into a fabulous loving home where Kate blossomed. She was very lonely when Oscar died and now Kate finds herself back at the shelter after her owner passed away recently. She seems to remember her past life at the shelter and is comfortable with the volunteers and her new roommates, but imagine how confused and sad she must be missing her family. Kate originally came to the shelter as a mama cat. She was one of those kitties who gave comfort to many of the new scared shelter arrivals and has always had many snuggle buddies. Kate is a beautiful petite dilute calico with amazing dark golden eyes. We would love for her to be adopted with a new friend or into a home with other sweet kitties. Come meet our precious Kate! Estimated DOB: 1/31/16 PLEASE DO NOT use the Petfinder Adopt Me application because we require more information. Instead please use our online application request form only on our ADOPT page on our website: http://forgottenfelinesct.org Call us at 860-669-1347 for more information or to speak with an adoption team member. Louie

2- 3 year old Louie came to us with a history of being a "bait dog" for dog fighters. That may or may not be true as Louie does seem to have some neurological issues which could have been caused by injury (head bobbing when drinking, and some peripheral vision issues). We have had Louie thoroughly checked out by our veterinarian, and he has assured us that though Louie does seem to have some strange issues, none of them appear to be affecting his current health in any way nor does he expect them to affect him in the future. Louie really doesn't care for the company of other dogs - he would much rather be an "only furchild". He is very well behaved on leash. He can be affectionate with his humans once he gets to know them, but can be a bite risk to those he does not know or trust. Louie needs someone with a LOT of patience and knowledge of dog behaviors to adopt him and show him just how good a dog's life can be, therefore, Louie would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner/trainer, and absolutely no children. Louie is a work in process - and his new family should regard him as a piece of art that when finally complete will dazzle all who meet him. If you would like to offer Louie a forever home, please submit an application which you can find on our website (www.almostheaven-golden-retriever-rescue.org)

Sadie & Tucker

Meet Sadie and Tucker, a bonded sister and brother pair who are looking for their forever home together. Sadie and Tucker were born in September 2018. They can both be shy at first, but once they feel comfortable with you, their personalities will shine. They love treats, soft food and playing with toys, including the laser light. Sadie is the most outgoing of the two and warmed up the quickest. She seeks human attention and will chat with you as she follows you around. She seems to love male, human energy and will rub up against your legs and will jump onto your lap. She loves to be petted. She sometimes can get jealous when you give your attention to other cats by chasing them away from you. Tucker is a bit more timid and will take a bit more time to warm up, but once he feels comfortable with you, he will come up on the sofa with you looking for attention. He sometimes has a lot to say. He loves his sister. They would do best in a home with just the two of them as pets or a home with another male cat already in the home who likes other cats as Tucker seems to gravitate towards male cats (he follows one of his foster’s male cats around the home daily). They are both easily startled so they will need a quiet home with no young children (children under the age of 12). We are not sure how they would do in a home with a dog as they have not been exposed to dogs while in our care. If you are interested in adopting Sadie and Tucker, please contact us at frederictoncarma@gmail.com. As of April 2024 the adoption donations will be: - Adult cat (over 12 months): $125 - Kitten between 6 months – 12 months: $150 - Kitten 6 months and under: $200

Floyd the Cellar Cat

One SMART Kitty!Floyd was born about November 9, 2010 and weighs about 15 lbs. This big kitty is a very smart boy and appeared here winter of 2017. It seems he found the cat door in the front of the garage, wandered around in the garage long enough to find the cat door into the cellar where there is an endless supply of kitty food, fresh water and a rather consistent temperature of about 60 degrees. So, winter of 2017 he terrorized the staff and the dogs that visit the cellar now and then to try to find 'treats' that the other rather feral cats, who live inside (cellar)/outside leave for them. He was fine with the other cats, but the dogs weren't allowed to come up the steps after they got down! No humans were allowed to touch him and if you reached for something in the shelves where he was lurking you'd get a good swat on your hand that goes 'THUD'! Then summer came and he was gone. The cellar was much more accessible to all of us, but we must admit we missed him a bit and hoped he was ok. Then came winter of 2018 and the snow and cold hit early - Floyd was back! He looked a little rough, but it didn't take long for him to regain his shiny fur and eyes. And much to our surprise he was just a teensy bit friendlier and seemed to be taunting 'Cat Man Drew' by rubbing on his legs, yet swatting his hand if it came close. OK...now is the time to neuter this boy! 'Cat Man Drew' grabbed him with some big gloves and into a crate he went!!! Then off to see Dr. Rasey to get the deed done! He recovered a few days in a crate and then was cautiously set free in the cellar looking rather indignant! Perhaps he's mellowed a bit and we don't know if he'll be leaving again this summer, but if he does he may find his summer activities dampened just a bit if you know what I mean. : ) We understand it is unlikely anyone will want to adopt Floyd, but we thought it was fun to tell his story and hope you enjoyed reading about him. We've deemed Floyd a sanctuary pet and he is considered 'un-adoptable'. Joyful Rescues remains committed to our Sanctuary Dogs and Cats. They will stay with us for their natural lives and we will care for and love them. We will be their forever family. We wish we could do it alone but we need your help. Nell

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nell was just 3 months old when she, her mom, and two siblings were picked up by animal control in rural Oklahoma. They were picked up from a property where they were in the pasture with goats. Animal control had to use a catch-pole to catch them because the whole little family was showing a fair amount of fear-based aggression. Sadly, the animal control officer made the decision to euthanize one puppy, saying s/he was too aggressive. It's really hard to imagine a 3-month old puppy being so aggressive that an experienced person couldn't have dealt with the issue, but seeing that the animal control officer was willing to put down a puppy, a local person volunteered to foster mom and her remaining two puppies until she could find a rescue to take them in. When we brought them here, the puppies (whom we named Nell and Maynard) were very frightened, and they tried to avoid my attempts to touch them, but they were never aggressive. They simply acted like feral pups who had ZERO experience with humans, other than their very unfortunate interaction with animal control. Their mom (whom we named Violet) was very aggressive in her attempts to protect her puppies, so it surprised us that the mom survived and a puppy was killed by animal control. The mom's aggression made it a challenge to work with the pups, so we separated them, with mom moving into the house and the pups staying in one of our barn kennels. After she was old enough to be spayed, we brought Nell inside the house. Ironically, her mom Violet acted like she didn't know Nell at all, but another one of our Great Pyrenees mix adult females acted as a surrogate mom to her. They shared a giant 54" crate at night and usually went outside for potty breaks together. Nell was making a little bit of progress in learning to trust me, but then we moved her and her brother to another foster home where we hoped they would get more attention than we could give them and make more progress. Unfortunately, even after two years in that home, we didn't see any real progress, so we moved Nell and Maynard back to Windsong Ranch. They are once again moving in the right direction -- they are learning to walk on a leash and to sleep in a crate. They are still very skittish, but they will go outside to take care of their potty business and then come back in the house. They observe the other dogs and sometimes engage in play with them. Mostly it seems that Nell and Maynard are learning what it means to be a house dog with people who love them. We try to pet each one every time we walk past them, maybe just a 5-second interaction, but it gets repeated multiple times a day, with the hope being that our persistence and consistency in having positive interactions with them will show Nell and Maynard that we can be trusted, that not all humans are terrible people. We would love to find a foster or adopter for Nell who could help her move to the next level in her journey to being a family pet. We think she would do best in a home with another dog who is confident, who loves their humans, and who would enjoy playing with Nell. Taking her on a daily leash walk could help improve her skills and increase her confidence. If you have the patience and compassion to love Nell and work with her to overcome her difficult start in life, please complete the application on our website at www.bluebonnetrescue.org.

Tyana

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Tyana is one of several dogs who were found on a ranch in the Texas Hill Country. We can only speculate, but we believe that the property owners moved away and left the dogs to fend for themselves. Tyana's mom Lydia is VERY friendly, but her pups (two generations) are completely unsocialized, so we're guessing they may have been born after the people moved. It's quite possible that the Animal Control Officers who hauled away Tyana and her family were the first humans that she ever had any close contact with. At Windsong Ranch, Tyana is very slowly learning to trust me, but she is still extremely skittish of people in general. Getting her to walk on a leash in order to go to the vet's office is a real challenge, but we've managed it, and once at the vet's office, Tyana has remained calm and quiet. She seems content to stay inside the house, but seems happier and less anxious when she is outside. Tyana gets along well with other dogs and is very playful with them. We believe she would do best in a home with a confident male dog, who can help her see that humans are trustworthy. Due to her skittish nature, she MUST go to a home with secure (visible) fencing. If you are ready to make the commitment to devote yourself to earning Tyana's trust, please complete the application on our website. NOTE: I really struggle to get decent photos of Tyana -- she almost always looks very anxious, even when she's happy -- it's like she's in witness protection and thinks that having her photo taken puts her life at risk. In some of these photos, she is hanging out with other unsocialized or feral dogs, and moments before I pulled out my phone, they were usually happy and smiling, but as soon as I point the camera at them, most of them look like I might be about to kill them. Silly dogs. Also, in some photos, she has what looks like an injury diagonal across her face. Nope, that's just a berry stain. Tyana likes to dig, and it shows in some of these photos.
