Mingo is a solid shiny black cat with large yellow-green eyes. He and two other cats were literally dumped at the county landfill for unknown reasons by their previous human who told the workers at the landfill that they had been fully vetted, but she did not leave any records on them. A Mebane, NC cat lover took the three cats to her home and contacted the Goathouse to take them in. Mingo is shy, but is never aggressive. When Mingo warms up to a person, he can be petted and held. He likes to sleep at the end of the bed and loves his former fellow foster mate, Diamond, with whom he would love to be adopted. Sabrina is a glossy, semi-feral girl who has the potential to be socialized but would need a very very patient home to achieve that. Sabrina loves wet food and that is a huge motivator for her to let people come close and even to let them touch her. She would also be happy to find a safe situation where she will get regular (wet!) food, a safe home, shelter against the elements and regular veterinary care, but can otherwise roam free. Approx. DOB: 07/01/2012 'Sponsored' means that Sabrina's adoption fee has been donated by a generous volunteer, so you can take her home for free - and spend that saved adoption fee on toys, food and litter! Sabrina is a cat for experienced cat owners only who understand patience, cat communication/body language and the need to allow the cat to bloom and bond 100% at their own pace over time. Ruth, also known as Baby Ruth, is a tiny girl with a glossy black coat and one white spot on her chest. She equally loves to play with people, toys, and other kitties. Ruth also appreciates some quiet snuggling, and if you sit down, she will happily flop over next to you for a nap. Ruth gets along with just about everyone here at the refuge, so while she would love to be adopted with another kitty close to her in age and activity level, she would also be just fine as an only-cat, or in a multi-pet home with other gentle, playful pets. Like a properly brewed cup of tea, handsome Earl Grey is at once subtle and commanding, a full-bodied guy with a gentle, unassuming personality. For years, Earl Grey remained fearful of people, preferring to hang back on the perimeters of the outside enclosure. When a new enclosure was constructed for our more shy kitties at the refuge, Earl Grey was relocated by the staff in hopes he'd make some gradual progress with socialization. And what a difference it has made! Earl Grey hangs out in the main room of the adoption building a good bit now, waiting on feeding times. A couple of our dedicated volunteers have made efforts to interact with him on a regular basis, and he now allows gentle pets from those who've showed him consistent kindness and patience, and we look forward to seeing him continue to gradually come out of his shell. Earl Grey is a cat for experienced cat owners only who understand patience, cat communication/body language and the need to allow the cat to bloom and bond 100% at their own pace over time.
