At just 1-2 years old and weighing around 20 pounds, I’m still learning what it means to be truly cherished. I came from a shelter in New Mexico, where I didn’t receive the love and affection that every pup deserves. Because of that, I can be a bit shy at first, but don’t let that fool you—I have a heart full of love waiting to share!
Once I warm up to you, my sweet and cuddly side shines through. I thrive on gentle affection and patience, and I promise to reward your kindness with snuggles and loyalty. I may need some extra time to feel comfortable, but I’m ready to blossom in a loving home where I can finally learn what it means to be a cherished companion.

Meet Zeke! This little boy is looking for his forever home! Zeke is a playful kitten who THRIVES with other cats. He is in a foster home with several cats of all ages and a senior dog, his personality truly comes out when he has a kitty friend to hang out with. While his love for felines certainly shines brightest initially, once this little man warms up to you he is full of purrs and biscuits. He LOVES to play with humans and animals alike. He adores squeezy tube treats and wet food and can easily be won over with a tasty bribe. He has not been around children in his time with his foster but he would likely do well with calmer children who respect his space. Due to his nervous nature, he would do well in a small space to adjust initially. Hello, wonderful humans! I'm Flo, a playful little Siamese kitten with a heart full of love and a spirit that shines bright! I may have cerebellar hypoplasia, which means my coordination is a bit wobbly, but that just adds to my charm. I'm always on the move, exploring my world with a curious tilt and an adventurous spirit! I love to cuddle and purr, and I have a knack for turning any moment into a playful romp. My favorite toys are anything I can bat around or chase (even if I don't always catch them!). I get along well with other pets, but due to my CH, take a little bit to warm up to them. I am also required to be adopted to a home with another feline friend and would thrive in a patient home that understands my unique needs. I may wobble when I walk, but I promise to fill your life with joy, laughter, and endless cuddles. If you're ready to open your heart to a little fighter with a big personality, I'm your girl!

Reese was found outside, hiding under cars in the cold last winter. She is a very relaxed girl. She loves to lay completely flat with her legs stretched out. When she is in a playful mood, she enjoys playing with her cups. She is definitely a smart girl. She will come over to you and nudge her face under your hand or feet, asking you to pet her. Like many rabbits, she is not a fan of being picked up and prefers to be petted on her own terms. She enjoys playing with her cups and wooden toy. Reese loves timothy hay, pellet blend and dried carrots.

ABOUT FRIENDS OF RABBITS
Friends of Rabbits is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue operating in the greater DC-metro area. We take rabbits at risk of euthanasia from shelters in Maryland, DC and Virginia. We also rescue abandoned and neglected rabbits and assist with large confiscation cases. We provide foster homes and veterinary care for our rabbits, have them spayed/neutered and find them new forever homes through our adoption programs.

Peter started out the tiniest if his crew and is now almost as big as his buddies! He is the wild child of the bunch and the first to explore and try new things, even if that means running headfirst into the resident foster dog! He is very sweet and loves to snuggle up with his people when it’s time for a nap. He has done great with the resident dog and cats. Peter will be 8 weeks old and ready for adoption on Nov 1st!

Our adoption fee is $190 for a cat or kitten. This includes spay/neuter, microchipping, age-appropriate vaccinations, any necessary medical care prior to adoption, deworming, and flea treatment.

McFlurry Cowan
Meet McFlurry! He is currently just over 18 pounds, 3 months old, and we think he may be a Great Pyrenees mix, but with rescue its always a guess! This puppy is from a part of the US where puppies are regularly euthanized. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from this rescue, it saves their life AND it also allows us to save the life of another in its place.

Do you need a sweet little snuggly fluffers in your life? (Hint: The answer is always yes.) We think that everyone needs to enjoy the amazing cuddle experience that only McFlurry can provide. This affectionate pup is an award-winning snuggle buddy (we gave him that award, full disclosure, for fluffiest floofer snuggles) that just cant be beat. In fact, several of us are campaigning to change his name to McFlurry McFluffer Snugglemaster, but the vote is at a stalemate, so we will let you decide!
This handsome fellow is playful, loving, and did we mention snuggly? His coat is long and soft and perfectly irresistible - you will find yourself petting him over and over (and McFlurry is happy to oblige and bask in your attention). He is mostly a gorgeous creamy white with pops of grey on his ears, temples, and one lone spot at the base of his tail. But perhaps the most amazing part of McFlurrys physical appearance is his amazing freckled belly - it simply begs for belly rubs!
And sure, McFlurry is gorgeous in appearance, but this personable pup has the personality to back it all up. He is friendly and outgoing, and eager to dole out just as many kisses as you give him (plus a few extra, for good measure). This handsome cheerful guy is sure to put a smile on your face and delight everyone he meets. McFlurry is currently in a loving foster home and loves to play with his foster siblings, who are all sizes. He is great with dogs and people, and we think hes quite the social butterfly. McFlurry is still young so he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. His new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, they will be perfect to go on walks and hikes or show off around your neighborhood.

Our PNW dogs are brought to you in style by a beautiful USDA licensed semi-truck, equipped with air conditioning for comfort, two drivers, and 2 onboard attendants providing 24 hour care. Our East Coast route will travel in a private, air conditioned 3LP-run van transport.
Pick up day is unforgettable! You will get to follow along on their journey through a private FB Event page, where you will see photos, have the opportunity to connect with other adopters, and receive updates and constant communication along the way. One of our Adoption Coordinators can help to find the closest transport pick up location to you!
The adoption fee is $1,000.00 and includes all vetting as recommended by our doctor: DAPP (2 to 4 depending on age and time in the program), Bordetella, Rabies vaccine (if old enough), multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, 2 months of heartworm preventative, extended medical such as dentals, eye surgeries, and orthopedic surgeries prior to adoption when suggested by our partner vets, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar for dogs over 4 months old, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and many priceless years of love and loyal companionship!
*WE ARE TOLD THAT WE GO ABOVE AND BEYOND MEDICALLY. This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health.
*To fully vet a dog in the PNW or the NE at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs.
