Meet Bindi! This 4-month-old cream-colored Yorkie blend is sure to steal your heart. And just like Bindi Irwin, this girl has spunk. Bindi weighs 5.5 lbs. and she came to Poodle and Pooch with her brother Benny. Bindi is looking for a committed, patient, and loving family to call her own.
General Behavior: Bindi is your typical playful puppy who is learning new things every single day.
Likes & Dislikes: Bindi loves toys, both soft and hard. She loves the variety and will need plenty since she is still in her puppy chewing stage. Without toys, she will find something that she's not supposed to chew. She LOVES to be held, kissed, snuggled and talked to with a baby voice. When held, she loves to lay her head right up to your neck. Another of her favorite activities . . . Zoomies in the yard. We give her a perfect 10 in this category.
Training: For such a young pup, she is learning quickly about going pee pee and poop poop outside. She loves the praise of Good girl, Yay, along with applause. Because she is just a puppy, she will need to be let out every few hours. She is learning about what a leash is and will need an owner willing to work with her on leash walking. As a puppy, she will also require someone to work with her on basic manners. Bindi does well on car rides.
Medical: Bouncy Bindi is a healthy pooch who will just require monthly heartworm and flea prevention. She will need to follow up for her spay (at 6 months of age) and vaccinations in Sanford.
Other Animals: Bindi enjoys playing with her sibling Benny most of the time, so a home with another playmate would be great. However, she would also be ok being an only pup . . . more attention for her! She should do ok with a family that has a cat(s) too.
Children: Because Bindi is a small and fragile gal, a home with respectful, older children (8 and above) would be necessary. She could easily be tripped over and injured, so she would not fit well in a home with toddlers or younger children.
Home: Bindi would do best in a single-family home with minimal stairs (they could be a danger due to her tiny size). Although not required, a fenced yard would be awesome for Bindi to continue her zoomies. Unless there is a gate around it, an inground pool would not be ideal. Bindi does bark a lot when left alone, she's scared, hears a loud noise or wants attention. Because of this, an apartment or condo with shared walls would not be ideal. Someone who is home more often than not would be fantastic.
Grooming: Bindi will require professional grooming on a regular basis, so that cost should be taken into consideration for any potential adopter. She will also need regular brushing and her nails trimmed.
Overall: If you are looking for a playful, fun-loving puppy, Bindi might be your gal! The name Bindi means little girl or butterfly. We are certain with love, patience and a willingness to teach her how to be a confident dog, she will make YOUR world a little more colorful. Just like a butterfly.
