Pongo

Meet Pongo! Poor Pongo has been waiting for a family for over two years. He was found as a stray and brought to a Houston shelter. Unfortunately, he found himself on the euthanasia list. We swooped in to save this handsome boy. He is now around 4-5 years old and 40lbs. We don't truly know his breed mix, but he's a compact little guy and the perfect size. He is currently staying at a boarding facility and is starting to get bored. He has been in a foster home as well. He loves to be outside and go on adventures. He does really well with other dogs and has played in large playgroups. He adores treats and toys. What hinders Pongo's chances is that he is afraid of strangers BUT when he knows you he adores you and is the best behaved boy. We know it's a big ask, but Pongo has a family out there and we know it. He will require a few meet and greets at his boarding facility. We will even pay for a training package with the owner/trainer there. If you think you are the person to love Pongo please reach out! info@theunderdogconnection.org

Blueberry So smart and Goofy

Meet Blueberry! Introducing Blueberry, a charming young puppy believed to be a mix of shepherd or husky and pittie. Hes around 50 pounds, and 11 months old. Blueberry is a smart, highly trainable boy with a beautiful blue/silver coat and for treats and toys. Blueberry is playful, sweet, curious, and cuddly. Hes a sweet boy that enjoys your attention, he loves to hear you call him cute and handsome, and he loves chest scratches. He enjoys playing with his foster siblings and taking plenty of naps. Despite his initial shyness, he quickly warms up to people and pets, showering them with kisses once comfortable. He's hesitant around more assertive dogs but gets along well with small or gentle, larger ones. His reaction to cats was timid, indicating he could likely coexist peacefully with a feline friend. Blueberry has spent time with children, and gets along with them well! Recently, we watched Blueberry interact with a toddler, he was softer and gentler with a little one than he usually is with adults. He gave the sweetest kisses, kept his paws to himself and wasnt too pushy! Blueberry would do well as a family dog. Blueberry loves to follow his person around the house, gazing up for attention and affection when available. Blueberry knows some basic commands, but hes still working on some of his manners. Hes highly food motivated, which will make further training enjoyable for both of you. Blueberry is in the prime of his learning phase, showing great potential for socialization and training. He is working on his potty and crate training and needs a family committed to continuing this education and providing the daily exercise he needs to thrive. Blueberry is currently fostered in Texas, up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and in good health, ready to travel across the country. We are willing to test this dog with anything you need us to in order to ensure hes the perfect match for you! We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Angel the Handsome Boy!

Hey Everyone, I’m Angel, a 1.5-year-old Canaan German Shepherd mix with a story full of resilience and hope. I was born in Amman, Jordan, with four siblings. Our mother, Nala, was malnourished and couldn’t feed us, but a kind Swedish woman in the community took us in and gave us the care we needed to survive. Thanks to her collaboration with CDA, we made it to the US, where all five of us found homes in July of 2023. Sadly, I was surrendered back to the rescue. My previous family had to give me up because the wife started active military service, and the husband didn’t want the responsibility of caring for me. But since I’ve returned to the rescue, I’ve blossomed into a more open, friendly, and confident dog. I love playing with other dogs every day, going on pack walks with the staff and other rescues, and just being part of the gang. I am friendly an curious around dogs and people. When we go for pack walks, I am sometimes the leader of the group, and I help new or timid dogs find their confidence. I can be a little shy at first, but I’ve been comfortable around all the facility volunteers and staff, so we believe if given the time, training, and love I will feel safe and secure in my forever home. Now, I’m looking for someone who can provide me with the stability, kindness, and commitment I deserve. I’m still young, with plenty of energy for walks, playtime, and adventures. I’m intelligent and loyal, with the heart of a survivor and a strong desire to bond with my people. I might be cautious at first, but once I know I’m safe, I’m your devoted friend for life. If you’re looking for a dog with an incredible story and an even bigger heart, I’m here, waiting for my second chance at a forever home. Will you be the one to give me the love and stability I’ve been searching for?

Marley Famous Doggy

Meet the marvelous magnetic Marley! He is almost 3 months old, and we think he may be a German Shepherd/Lab mix, but with rescue its always a guess! This puppy is from a part of the US where puppies are regularly euthanized. So, this puppy needs you! If you choose a puppy from this rescue, it saves their life AND it also allows us to save the life of another in its place. Watch Marleys video here: https://youtu.be/EEWEzRSVFnA Marley is simply stunning - we describe him as magnetic because you can't resist getting pulled into his orbit, lol. Marleys distinctive patch on white on his nose (and chin) makes him stand out from his siblings, but his attitude and personality is similarly joyful. Marley and his siblings are all very gentle, friendly, and affectionate with everyone they meet. Marley is very well socialized and does well meeting new people (of all ages kids included), and other dogs of all sizes. This loving boy will roll over and give you belly at the first opportunity handsome Marley aims to please and just wants your attention and affection. We think Marley might be the runt of his litter he certainly seems to be the smallest in size, but his personality is HUGE on love and complete adoration. You will be charmed by the puppy dog eyes and baleful looks this dog has perfected. His tail thwacks constantly because of his happy nature, and when he rolls over to invite you in for belly rubs? Hold on to your hearts, because Marley has already collected all of ours! It is hard to believe that this adorable boy and his 7 littermates were living outside in the overbearing Texas summer heat. He and his siblings were rescued from a small community in Rosharon where we do a lot of community outreach our Executive Director could not let these puppies continue to be left on their own, when we could adopt them into our program and get them foster homes (indoors) and eventually adopted into a loving forever home. None of his litter was very interested in toys or soft stuffies, as they probably never had the chance to play as puppies should, so we will be leaving it up to their adopters to continue to spoil these amazing puppies with love, toys, and treats galore! Marley is still young so he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization and all the dedication puppyhood requires. His new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, he will be perfect to go on walks and hikes or show off around your neighborhood. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend!
