Joani

This adorable young cutie is ready to be your best friend! Joanie is about 8 months old and came to us because her and the other dog in the home were not getting along. Sweet, energetic, playful, and so darn silly! Joanie is known for getting overstimulated easily, and will need a home that can provide her with consistency and more training. She is smart, eager to please, and food motivated. Joanie would do best in an active home, or with a fenced in yard. Being outside, exploring, swimming, and hunting for bugs is her favorite. She can be a bit nervous with new people and dogs, and will require multiple meet and greets. Given a proper introduction she may be able to live with a low-key friendly dog. Joani has also lived with cats, though she will chase if given the chance. Older dog-savvy children would be best for Joanie (16+), at least until she gets her manners down packed. This girl has so much potential, but is going to be a project. She still has a lot of puppy like behaviors that aren’t appropriate, so an experienced home is a must.

Callum

Callum is a beautiful white cat with brown and black tabby spots born about October 20, 2020. He was given to the Anchorage Animal Control who gave him to ACAT because of his shy disposition. Callum is shy, but loves to play. He energetically plays with toys on his own and with his foster parents and other visitors. He thoroughly enjoys string toys as well as flying feather toys and laser lights. He eats treats out of his foster parents' hands and comes running to his name. He gets along well with most of the other cats in his foster home, although he may, or may not, defend if another cat is aggressive. Callum will make someone with love and patience a wonderful pet. He has made great strides since arriving in his current foster home. He allows visitors to pet him, and willingly goes to them to eat treats from their hands as well. It will take some time for him to adjust to a new home. He is neutered and has received his rabies and first vaccines. He is also litter box trained. If you are the special person that can give Callum a new chance at life, please fill out the pre-adoption form on this website and call his foster caregiver, Carol, in Wasilla at 907-355-3587.For general information, contact ACAT at 982-2228. Hi, my name is Ruby! Though I'm shy, it's only because I've been through some hard things in life. But if you give me some time and a chance, I'm a really sweet dog and I'd really love to have a home with loving family members who will give me the time and space to both open up and relax. I'm still learning how to walk on a leash, but some really kind, gentle, and patient folks from the shelter have been helping me. I love having doggy friends to play with and keep me company. Oh yeah, and I absolutely love my meat treats! They will surely help me see that we can be friends. Set up an appointment to come and meet me!

We were notified by one of our TNR independent rescuers' that there was a mama with 4 kittens living there. They were being hunted by neighborhood dogs and coyotes. So we acted fast! She trapped mama and got her into a safe home with a neighbor who cared for her. We got the 3 kittens and the other little guy went to another rescue as he was trapped later. Unfortunately in rescue no matter how fast we act sometimes, we can't save them. Our boy MERCURIO passed away unexpectedly, a week after he was rescued. And because of it, we noticed that the girls are very connected. We can't say bonded because we have never separated them.
