Swivel D16878

Hi! I'm Swivel. I am from Missouri. From his foster: Swivel is a fun, super smart companion. He needs constant supervision or he wants to bite and chew absolutely anything so exercise and playtime are your friends! He does get the zoomies now and then which is adorable, but he can chill and play quietly too. He is such a quick learner and with consistency he needs very little time to learn no, and some commands. He plays well with our resident 8 year old lab mix and if on a schedule does all his business outdoors. He has won our hearts because he is so sweet and really tries to be a good boy! Bonus: He loves to learn new tricks so someone that wants to train him would be a good fit.

Zara D16779

Hi! I'm Zara! I'm from Kentucky. My foster family calls me Lily and I respond very well to that. I am a super sweet and outgoing girl with lots of love to give. My favorite activities include playing (with anyone and everyone), running (parents with a fenced backyard would be amazing!), and snuggling. I love kids of all ages and would do great with an active family. I do well on walks but I pull a lot when only wearing my collar which is why a harness is best for me since I don't pull when wearing it. I would do well in a home with another dog who loves to play, but cats are unknown as I've never met one. I am fully potty trained and I sleep in my crate at night without barking or whining! I also know a few tricks already, which include sit, lay down, and shake! I love Kongs, chew toys, and puzzles, which all help get me mental stimulation throughout the day. When I'm not solving puzzles/games or playing, I really love to snuggle with you on the couch and take a nice midday snooze. If you love a pup who is equally playful and lazy, and would really make a great family dog, I am the one for you!

Rose D14914

Please email admissions@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster! I am Rose. I am from Missouri. Hello! My name is Rose, and I'm a sweet, loving mama dog ready to enjoy a puppy-free life. I came from a breeder and now, I'm looking for a warm, understanding foster home where I can thrive. A Few Important Notes About Me: I need to be in a home without any small dogs or cats. I can be protective of my food and treats, especially around other dogs. I once growled when someone tried to take my food bowl, but after a firm correction, it didn't happen again. On another note I did have two altercations with my much smaller housemate, Anya, over food and treats. While we have taken measures to manage this, I would do best in a home where my food space is respected and managed carefully. When food is not involved, I'm incredibly sweet-natured. I groom and play well with my smaller housemate, and we enjoy wrestling in the yard. I often get on my back to let Anya play on top of me. I'm crate trained and housebroken! I've even learned to use bells on the door to signal when I need to go outside. I love my walks and do a happy dance when I see my harness. I'm also very well-behaved when left alone outside the crate. I love to cuddle and get my belly scratched. My whole body wags when I greet you, and I have a big heart for all humans and dogs I meet, as long as they respect my personal space and prized items. Overall, I just need a confident foster that can give me the love and structure I need.

Jewel D16865

Hi! I'm Jewel! I'm from Kansas. From her foster: Jewel is dog-friendly and quicker to befriend dogs. However, after having her for a week, Jewel is still nervous around people. She has recently started coming out of her kennel to explore and will even take toys (and socks!) back to her kennel where she'll hoard them. Jewel spends the majority of her day in the kennel avoiding us. She has not made a peep since she's been with us. Jewel will require a very patient and quiet home. As Jewel prefers dogs over people, another doggy friend would be beneficial for helping her feel comfortable in a new home. Jewel prefers to eat and drink in her kennel. We have managed to get her to eat outside her kennel a couple of times when she sees the other dogs eating. She is kennel-trained. She is also potty-trained and will go out on a leash to potty. Even with a fenced yard, I would not recommend letting her out without a leash as she will likely curl up and hide somewhere. Jewel can be stubborn on the leash, so I recommend using a harness. I put her energy level as low, but that's based on how she is currently behaving around us. She may become more energetic once she settles in and realizes humans aren't so bad. Jewel is starting to warm up to cats but would do best with cats that ignore her.

Neo D16863

Hi! I'm Neo. I'm from Missouri! From his foster: Neo is incredibly sweet and shy. He is potty trained on a schedule, and he has alerted us that he needed to go out with a quirky little howl a couple of times. He is already very attached to our resident dog and follows him around the house or cuddles with him on a shared dog bed. He doesn't seem to mind our kids but steers clear of them. Neo has limited vision. He gets around just fine, but it seems to contribute to significant anxiety. He would do well in a low key household with another dog to help him feel comfortable. His adopters will need a lot of time and patience to bring him out of his shell. Cats are unknown.

Little Bit D16867

Please email admissions@thebondbetween.org to sign up to foster! Need a temp foster from 6/15 - 6/21 Hi! I'm Little Bit! I'm from Alabama! I am a neutered Chihuahua. I am about 4 years old and 10 pounds. I am a dog friendly little guy. I found myself in a shelter and no owner came back for me so I headed to Minnesota! From his foster: Meet Little Bit! We call him Spleen and he responds well to it. He hung out with a temp foster for his first week in Minnesota and just landed with his permanent foster. So far, he has been impressive with his politeness and house manners. No accidents inside with frequent trips to the backyard. He snuggles up in bed with his human and animal siblings and sleeps like a champ over night. This little guy loves to snuggle as well, and he has done well on a leash so far. His vocal side comes out when he is confined to the kennel. With time and practice, this should improve, or perhaps he would do well with free range. He has been polite with the dogs he has encountered so far and completely ignored the two kitties he met briefly. Overall, he's a friendly and fun little guy. He came up as a stray from Alabama, so this dashing southern gentleman is sure to steal your heart.

Addeline D16876

Hi! I'm Addeline. I am from Missouri. I am an 8 year old, 10 pound poodle. I am from a breeder release, but get along well with other dogs and people. My foster mom calls me Addie. I'm starting to recognize my name when she talks to me. I'm even starting to wag my tail just a tiny bit. The most important thing to know about me is that I am just starting to learn that humans can be good. It's going to take me a while to really trust my person. People in my past haven't been very kind to me. What I really want is a kind, gentle human who understands I will need to go at a slow pace in becoming part of the family. You can't change my past, but patience, consistency and love you can change my future. From her foster: Addie is the sweetest little thing that I want to snuggle so she knows she is safe now. But I don't because that isn't what Addie needs right now. What she does need is time and space to understand that life can be good. Her ideal human would be someone who will commit to allowing Addie to develop trust, confidence and love in baby steps. And having a calm companion dog to learn from would help her in that journey. Addie is a breeder release rescue. Addie is cautious and fearful of people right now. It's obvious she hasn't had a lot of positive human contact. It will take the right person and environment to help her learn life can actually be good and people can be loving. Addie is also smart, curious and wanting trust me. Even with all she has been through, Addie wants to bond. She has already progressed so much in the short time I've had her. Instead of hiding in the corner of her kennel, she is napping with her head resting on the open door as I write this. My desk a few feet from her. She is cautiously willing to let me come a bit closer to her, even taking a treat from my hand, as long as she can quickly retreat back to the safety of her kennel. We are able to be outside a few minutes longer each day as Addie gets used to sights, smells and sounds that she has probably not experienced before. We have been working on potty training. As I said, Addie is smart. She is catching on that we go outside to potty. I do have puppy pads all the floor outside her kennel in case of accidents. She is so small that she could also be fine with indoor potty pads. It's important that Addie always has a leash/harness attached when she is not in her kennel and gated area. She is so fearful that when startled she will try to run away. I have a long lead on her so she can explore but not escape. Inside the house Addie is most comfortable in her open door kennel with a puppy play pen attached to it. She eats in the play pen area but only if I turn my back and move away. When I leave the room she will venture out into the play pen. When I return she has started giving a tiny little tag wag before retreating back into the kennel. Baby steps. Baby steps. I do think Addie will be the sweetest little companion. It will just take the right person to help her get there.

Bonnie D16864

Hi! I'm Bonnie! I'm from Kansas. I am a spayed Dalmatian mix. I'm about a year old and 35 pounds. I am great with other dogs and love people. I can't wait to meet you! From his foster: Bonnie is a cuddle bug! She's pretty calm in the house but loves going for walks. She's met a lot of my neighbors and is friendly and social. She enjoys car rides and being with her family. Bonnie does well on brewery patios and hangs out nicely in our fenced in back yard. She loves her kennel at night and never complains or barks when she's home alone in the kennel. She will bark if she's kenneled and can see us moving around near her but does well being tethered to me. She's untested with cats but does have interest in rabbits & squirrels - she quickly learning to "leave them on our walks. Bonnie is looking for her forever family. She wants to be in the mix, underfoot, at your side! She enjoys being pet as often as you'll oblige! If you're running an errand she's happy to keep you company. If that errand includes ice cream or a Starbucks pup cup even better!!

Penelope D16874

Hi! I'm Penelope! I'm from Missouri. From her foster: Meet Penelope, but we have been calling her Penny and she responds well to this. She is a 6 year old girl who was a recent breeder release. Penny is a typical pug velcro dog. She follows me everywhere, loves food and loves to be in my lap. She's good with other dogs and cats but she doesn't need another dog in her future home. She walks ok on a leash which is something we're working on. Penny is potty trained and wants back in the house right after she's done. She would love to sleep in bed with her future owner as well. Penny can be slightly timid but warms up quick. Respectful kids are also appreciated. Penny resource guards food so we feed her separately and do not touch her bowl, or treat while she has it.

Jazz D16834

Hi! My name is Jazz and I am from Arkansas. From his foster: Jaz may be one of the two best puppies in the world. His brother Jasper is the other one of the two best puppies in the world. You may think I'm exaggerating, it's just how I see it. Jaz is curious, playful, intelligent and affectionate. He's a great sibling to his brother Jasper. The perfect family for this puppy is one that wants to engage with their dog, include him in their adventures and who enjoy providing training and interactions that stimulate his excellent brain and heart.
