Monica

Monica loves being on the go and exploring the great outdoors with her human. She would like to be an only child and would do best at home with active adults who will take her everywhere they go and help her shed a few extra pounds she has gained in her time in boarding. She has been through an eight-week training program at Friends For Folks in Lexington, OK, and now knows all her basic commands.

Gremlin

We called him Gremlin. The shelter called him a Basset. He's not, we listed him as Corgi - mixed, but we feel Gremlin is more of the breed. Super energetic, this little guy was paralyzed and facing euthanasia. A team of rescuers jumped up to get him safe, and we are rehabilitating him. Now able to walk, run and CHASE BALLS. At the moment he is too excited to work with other dogs, we are working on that. If you think you might be a good fit for Gremlin, please submit an adoption application on our website at www.daphneyland.com

ARABELLA

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.rescued by a cat rescuer with sister at 4 weeks of ageI was found very young with my sister and was bottle fed for about 3-4 weeks. Eventually I was adopted out to a family, but that didn't turn out well. The five year old pulled my tail and my fur and just in general mistreated me. I tried hiding and everything but it didn't work. Thankfully my sister and I were returned to the foster . We are both cuddlers and very, very sweet. We'd do well with older children that know how to handle animals....I love to stay close to my foster mom and dad by just hanging out with them. Also love the human laps!! I enjoy several games with balls and the laser light and the wand with the toys on a string!! If you would like to meet me come to PetSmart one Saturday or send my mama an email!

Athena O

Please welcome Athena to the Forgotten Felines of Culpeper family. Athena is 3 1/2 years old. She is rare in that only 10% of orange cats are female. Athena loves attention - on her terms, we are told - and is good in the litter box. She loves to play with laser pointers, toy wands, and catnip. She comes to us as an owner surrender, as her family is moving and is not able to take her along. (No comments, please.) She would do best in a quiet, low activity home with older children as an only cat. Athena is spayed, up to date on vaccines, combo tested negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Email us if you are interested in her! GoodMews22@aol.com

Bebe

Hi my name is Bebe. I have been in a foster home for a long time and I really don't know why. The only thing I can think of is that I get a little nervous and shy when new people come into the room. I just wish someone would just give me a chance and take me to my fur-ever home and love me. I know that after a little time when I feel comfortable and safe I will be the greatest companion. I can't wait to look out a window for the first time! I have been told what a delight it will be for me to look out and see what goes on. I am so looking forward to this. I really can't wait. I love to play with my ping pong balls (I have a new supply to take home with me when the time comes). My volunteers, who take care of me, tell me I am very beautiful. They say I have the most beautiful light green eyes. They tell me that my turn will come. I really hope so and that it is very soon. I would be so happy to have someone to love and care for me in a home. If you would like to see Bebe, please call Chris at 201-906-7813.

Moose

This gorgeous houndy boy has been with us for quite some time. He does not "show" well, because once he is comfortable in an environment and knows it as his home, he can be defensive and protective when meeting new people/strangers. Once he knows and trusts you, he is such a terrific dog! He's housetrained, affectionate, happy, and playful. He loves to lay in the sun and loves being outdoors. He generally does well with other dogs, but does NOT share food or toys well, so that must be monitored. He just needs a very special owner who understands how to introduce him to new people and lead him properly. VIEW DOG

Jerry

Hi there! I'm Jerry! I came to the Sanctuary with my brother, Tom, and my mom, Peaches. Tom and I are a little on the smaller side for potbelly pigs because our mom was starved while she was pregnant. We are bonded brothers, so we will need to be adopted together. Sometimes, people confuse me with Tom because we look so much alike! But it's not that hard - I have a a white stripe down my snout, and Tom has a white spot on his forehead. We can be a little shy at first, but with some individualized attention, a solid routine, and some extra love, we will warm right up to you! Oh - and we play a funny trick on the new volunteers! When the volunteers give us treats at the front of our enclosure, we will hurry up around to the back and try to get seconds. It always works with the new ones, but the seasoned volunteers know our shenanigans! We would love to find our own family to share treats with! I'm neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated.

Lady

Meet Lady! Lady is a 9 year old Lab/Shepherd mix. Lady needs a very competent and experienced owner, one that has had experience in handling GSD/Malinois/Belgain Shepherds before. She would make a great Police Dog as she has a strong desire to be a pack leader and a high prey drive, and would do well with training and having a 'job.' Lady needs to be an only animal home and is not recommended for a home with children! If you are interested in making Lady a part of your family, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org LADY'S ADOPTION FEE IS $160 The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess. Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up. All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in. Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!

Dakota

Dakota is still looking for her forever home! This gorgeous girl loves running in our play yards, lounging in the dog pools, and belly rubs. She has such a beautiful smile! Dakota has been with us for 2073 long days! Throughout the years, we have learned that she needs to be in a very calm environment with only 1-2 people and no cats. Dakota also needs plenty of time to learn to trust, so she will need everyone in her future family to visit her for a few months before going home. Once you are one of her trusted people, you see a fun, affectionate, gentle, and playful personality! Her trust is a gift and she is so worth the effort! We aren’t giving up hope that the right family will one day come along for our sweet girl! Dakota is a Lab mix and was born on 11/7/2015. She is spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccinations, and takes preventive flea/tick/heartworm medicine. As with all of our dogs, Dakota must be an indoor dog. If you are interested in meeting Dakota, please email bahshelter@yahoo.com. If there are other dogs in your home, we require a meet and greet, which you can schedule via email at bahshelter@yahoo.com. If you cannot attend your scheduled visit, please let us know. Thank you!

Ophelia

Ophelia was a scared stray, that was thankfully brought to us with her two kittens. She lived a very hard life before being rescued, which has made it hard for her to trust people. The staff and volunteers have been working with her but she will need an experienced owner with lots of patience and love. Ophelia loves other cats and is very submissive. Since she is shy, she would do best in a home with no children or dogs. **We do not do out of state adoptions** To do our part to contain the spread of COVID-19, The Animal Haven is only open by appointment for approved applicants until further notice. Check our Facebook page for more updates as the situation develops. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you stay safe and well. Applications are available on our website, theanimalhavenct.org. If interested, please send an application to Michelle@TheAnimalHavenCT.org or mail it to 89 Mill Road, North Haven CT 06473.
