Jet

"I love that when I go into adoptable Jet's room with a book she hurries over to settle in on my lap while I read. She would literally make the perfect cat for someone looking for companionship. Jet continues to be the perfect cat. She also says that lazy day snuggs are her favorite...possibly 'cause she knows they are my favorite too. The best thing about Jet is her intuition. She always knows exactly what I need and how to make me feel better Sidenote: If my house had less animals, I'd definitely keep her, no question. She has probably been my favorite foster cat and I've had about 70 foster cats over the past two years. -Adoptable Jet's foster mom. Jet's been doing great with her dog foster-sibling. She would do best as the only kitty and is a true treasure. Jet is about six and a half years old and is spayed. Call us at 219-872-4499 to adopt Jet

Arnie

Hey, I'm Arnie and I'm looking for my perfect human to come break me out of the shelter. It's a cool place and all, but I've pretty much been here since I was a kitten. It's time for me to move out and get my own place. I can be nervous around some of you humans, so my perfect person would be patient and understanding and give me time to trust. I do love to play with you if you have a dangly wand toy! I also like other cats!

Josie “Sarah Jayne”

Meet Sarah Jayne, or as she’s called now Josie. Josie is a sweet senior 16-pound schnauzer poodle mix otherwise known as a Snoodle! Josie is about 8 to 12 years old. She had been adopted from us about four years ago and returned due to no fault of her own. Josie walks well on a leash and is housetrained and also uses potty pads. She has been good with kids and other animals although she does prefer things on the quiet side. She doesn’t like to play with other dogs and prefers it if the cat leaves her alone! Josie tends to sleep a lot and just wanders around and checks things out around the house. She does have some special needs, as she needs to be careful with her food. She gets an upset stomach easily which can lead to pancreatitis. We have found that having a special medication on hand can easily prevent her from getting sick. Josie had complete bloodwork, as well as a dental cleaning at her recent vet visit. Interested in becoming a forever home for Josie? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws . We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Josie. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Josie the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!

Lexie

Lexie (about 5 and a half months old as of December 28th, 2022) is a female lynx point shorthaired kitten. Lexie was found in a feral cat colony in Winthrop Harbor. A volunteer came to pick up 3 of Lexie's younger cousins to bring into foster care and the caretaker mentioned there were also 3 older kittens that might be savable, but when they went to look for them they found her two littermates had tragically been attacked and killed by some kind of wildlife and Lexie was unexpectedly paralyzed from the waist down. Thankfully when we had Lexie's back x-rayed her spine was intact, and the vets noted she had some sensation in her hind legs and tail so there was hope the paralysis could improve with physical therapy. Lexie's foster family has been working with her and she now has about 20% normal function in one hind leg and 10-15% in the other. Lexie gets around crazy fast just pulling herself around on her front legs, even on smooth flooring, and she just never feels the need to try to use her back legs outside of physical therapy. Several carts have been made to help Lexie with her physical therapy in the hopes we can find a design she likes enough to really build up some strength and coordination in her cute little noodly legs. As far as special needs go Lexie is otherwise in great health and is a happy, playful, and sweet little kitten. The main concern is that with her unique style of getting around and lessened awareness of what is going on in her back end she doesn't always make it to and -in- the litterbox and will sometimes need extra help cleaning up. Sometimes having her legs overstimulated and moved in certain ways can also stimulate the wrong nerves and cause her to use the bathroom a little, but thankfully that has gotten better as she has grown older. She gets along great with other cats- she is a little more mellow than most kittens her age and can be a little overwhelmed by the constant antics of younger kittens, so we think Lexie would be a great little sister to a slightly older cat, especially one that still likes to play a little! She doesn't interact with dogs too much but is used to having one in her foster home so she could probably handle living with a calm cat friendly dog. For having been caught as an older kitten she really likes people and has grown to trust them with all the extra TLC she has needed, so we think she'd be fine for kids as long as they are old enough to understand her special needs and not chase her around.

Bette likes people! She enjoys their attention and affection and looks forward to visits from staff and volunteers. When there are no people to socialize with, Bette enjoys relaxing outside on the screened in area where she can watch everything going on and look for other visitors as they come into her house. Bette lives in a house with many other kitties, but she would much prefer to be the queen in her castle (only cat) in her forever home. Honey

I’m pretty sure I’m called Honey because I’m soooo sweet. And, I’m especially sweet and gentle with children. My favorite place to be is at the center of family "cuddle puddles", but I’m always happy to give new people a chance to pet me. My favorite things to do are playing with stuffed toys, hiding my bones, and I just love to show off for treats. I’m leash and crate-trained, know how to SIT on request, and I’m ready to learn some new tricks. I do like to be the queen of my own castle so no other dogs or cats please. If you’d like to get together for our very own “cuddle puddles”, send in an adoption application with my sweet name on it.

Noel

RE-INTRODUCING NOEL Noel is a very sweet soul. She is an 8 year old female DLH that came into rescue after being attacked by a coyote. Noel says "I survived Wiley Coyote and can't wait to tell you all about it". Due to this attack she is now a tripod as she had to have one of her back legs amputated. She will need to be the only pet in her Furever home as she is not comfortable with other cats and we have been told she is terrified of dogs. She loves to get pets when she asks for them, but can get overstimulated. She loves to have her chin rubbed. Noel is learning to get around very well with 3 legs and uses the pet stairs a lot so she can get up on the chair or table. Noel also likes to have a hiding place if she gets scared or feels threatened. She loves to snuggle with her foster dad and will curl up by his head and purr at him if he is laying down! If you are interested in giving this sweet girl a home please message PAWS Rescue inc. Her adoption fee is $70 and includes her spay and vaccinations. Thank you Andrea and Gary Sedorus for fostering this beautiful girl
