Rocky was born 2014 black & white pit mix. He was a stray found on the streets. Rocky is neutered and UTD w shots. He loves to play and just wants someone to give him some attention. He is selective about his dog friends (prefers the ladies) and chases cats. He is great with people. Rocky just needs a home where he can be loved. Rocky is crate trained. Poor Columbo was scratched in the eye during play by one of his siblings so he has a small amount of limited vision in one eye. He's a little shy so he could use some TLC.

Shine, previously known as Shiva, is a handsome gray and silver tabby. He and his siblings arrived at the shelter as kittens. All of them were initially named after Hindu gods. Shine has always been a bit on the skittish side and will usually run from someone new. But once he does get to know you he can be a pretty affectionate cat. If he decides you are ok, he likes being petted and can actually be picked up. One quick way to get to know him is to come with a tray of food...he loves his food, and will frequently steal trays from the other cats. Come in and visit him in room 4 to see if he takes a shine to you.

Lavinia is a sweet, loving, playful dog who has had a rough start to life. She appears to have been bred numerous times in her short life. This sweet momma would love a family with no cats and no small children. She has come miles in training and trust since she has arrived with our rescue, but has more work to be done. We are slowly working on dog introductions with her. Update 11/20/2015-Her dog introductions are going well, she does great with slower proper introductions. Update 4/17/2016-Lavinia has a wonderful foster home and she is having a blast with her foster brothers and sisters. She will make a great dog for someone!

Meredith was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Alabama. Being a black dog, she had very little chance of being adopted down south. She was another dog that was in trouble and was in danger of being euthanized the next day. So, of course, I couldn't let that happen. She was fully vetted, spayed, and spent about 2 weeks in a foster home in AL with a shepherd X, who became her good friend. When she came to NY, she went to a friend who fostered her, who has an older hound X and 4 cats. When the foster mom brought her young nieces home for a weekend, Merri, as her foster mom likes to call her, was wonderful with them! There have been no problems with Merri with either the cats, the dog or with anyone new that she meets. Merri is 2 yrs. old, weighs 59 lbs, is fully housebroken, sits, and walks well on leash. Baxter came from a high-kill shelter in GA. My friend, Rita called me on his last day, asking if I had room for a sweet, funny, loving dog, and that if no rescue stepped up for him, he was being euthanized because the shelter was out of room. What a crime that would have been! Baxter is everything Rita said he was- and more. He's about 2 yrs. old and weighs 60 lbs. Totally housebroken, sits and gives his paw, and loves kids and other dogs. He also loves to run around, showing his joy of life; and being a boxer mix, he likes to put his paws around your waist and hug you. He's also a real snuggler! Baxter is so sweet, and handsome and so adorable, but I just can't find the right home for him. If you are looking for a fun, loving happy dog, then Baxter is the dog for you.
