Mask

Hellloooooo world! They call me Mask! My superpower is the super squeak! Whether I’m asking for attention or telling you about my day, I let loose with the kitty equivalent of 'meh’ to say, “I love you, please play with me!” I like to release little ‘mews’ to show signs of affection. I’m very loving! I’m the most likely to seek out attention, of all my littermates. I’m #1! I’m the social butterfly, I enjoy being around everyone! I’m always down to cuddle, I’m very affectionate. and if purring were an Olympic race, I would take gold every time. While I love the kitten stampede that takes place in our living room, I’m the most chill of the group. I love to climb and explore when I start to lose interest in the whole ‘chase and play.’ I just love to relax with you when the day is done! When there’s food on the floor one of my favorite activities is to bat the kibble across the floor, stalk it and chow down! I like to investigate everything, I’m very curious! I like to climb up and watch the scene below, very much capitalizing on my Batman Mask.  I have been raised with many other kitties, and we get along well! I’ve never been around dogs or kids, but with my laid back, chill demeanor, I think it could work out well with the proper introduction. I’m looking for a new adventure, the world is my oyster! Are you looking for adventure too? Fosters: kathrynmays87@gmail.com; brailisimo@gmail.com Phone: 714-299-0335; 330-348-4290

Thor

Meet our little Thor, who probably is a bit of a chihuahua and terrier mix. He can take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he knows you he shares his happy tail wagging side. Thor loves to sit in your lap, and will be extremely devoted to his new owner. He is full of personality and love. We are unsure at this point, how he would get along with other animals. Due to his initial shyness, a home without small children would be best. Groan A167891

Groan A167891 72 lb. neutered male, approx 7 years old - Senior man looking to hitch a ride out of here! - He’s more of an independent kind of guy. Likes to wander and sniff. - He’s super food motivated. Still working on taking them more gently. He’ll get it! - Sits, gives paw with both feet at the same time. It’s very adorable! - He loves belly rubs. He thrashes in excitement for them - He is a big boy and is enthusiastic about going for walks. He’s pretty strong. - Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids. Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30 BUT our adoptions are done 7 days a week from 10:30am -3:00pm. The last potential adopter must arrive before 3:00 pm so we have time to properly help you before closing. 1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Taquito *Arriving 9/21*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Taquito was found as a stray and he is so happy to be in a home again. All he really wants is to be close to his person. This sweet boy has a laid-back personality and loves to curl up and nap near you when you're home. He's been great with other dogs, snuggling without any issues, though he might get a little growly if they try to share his food bowl. This is easily managed by feeding him separately from other dogs in the house! Taquito is mostly potty trained, but if left for too long, he's fine using a potty pad. He's not much of a barker-his calm and quiet nature make him an ideal companion. He was pretty underweight when rescued, but with some love and care, he's on the mend. Taquito is a total cuddlebug and would thrive in a home where someone can be around as much as possible to keep him company. Taquito is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/21/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Martin *Arriving 9/21*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is Martin, an 8-year-old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix with a bit of a grumpy old man vibe. Maybe he's just a guy who knows what he likes and expects nothing less. When he's tired, he puts himself to bed and when he sleeps he sleeps hard. It is best to wake him slowly. While he's still working on his potty training, Martin is a low-energy, easygoing guy who loves to cuddle and play in spurts. When he is happy or excited he does the cutest dance. He does well with other small dogs and adults, but seems to prefer the company of women. Martin needs some time and patience to adjust to a new home, but once he warms up, he's incredibly sweet. Though he might be protective and reactive to strangers, Martin calms down quickly and is eager to please. He's an escape artist, so he needs to be leashed even in a fenced yard. Martin enjoys car rides, toys, and can get vocal when excited, likely making him a better fit for a home without shared walls. Give Martin a few days, and you'll discover a loving, loyal, and sometimes protective companion. Martin is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/21/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Maybelline *Arriving 9/21*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mabelline is a sweet puppy who is already showing signs of becoming a calm and low-energy dog. She's likely to grow into the perfect lap dog, as she loves to snuggle and enjoys quiet time on the couch. As a stray, she's still adjusting to home life, but her Texas foster can already tell she's incredibly intelligent. The way she looks at you when you talk to her is truly unique-it's like she's hanging on every word. Mabelline's routine includes a morning potty trip followed by a meal and a short walk or a game of fetch. She isn't housebroken yet, so she goes outside every two hours, but she's making great progress. She's crate-trained, sleeping peacefully through the night after just a few minutes of fussing. During the day, she enjoys resting in her bed near her foster mom's office chair, and she loves to be held and even gives little "hugs" with her front paws. Though she was initially shy and timid, Mabelline has blossomed into a loving, curious companion. She's rarely vocal, only barking when she's excited or overstimulated. She's had some exposure to cats but tends to chase them, so a cat-free home might be best for her. She's very responsive to commands, including "sit" and "no," and would thrive with someone who is home more often to give her the love and attention she craves. Mabelline is a loving, smart puppy who will be a great fit for anyone looking for a cuddly companion that enjoys quiet time and a few short walks a day. Maybelline is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/21/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Simone *Arriving 9/21*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Simone, or as her foster calls her, "Sassy Simone," is a playful and energetic puppy with a zest for life. She's always on the go, bopping around the yard, chewing on just about everything (watch out for your flower beds!), and constantly seeking out bugs and frogs to play with. She's in her chewing phase, which is very typical at her age. She's learning what's okay to gnaw on though with consistent redirection! Simone and her brother, Stephen, love to roughhouse together, and she even tries to engage the foster family's 19-year-old rat terrier, Penny, in play. While Penny isn't always interested, Simone knows when to back off and eventually calms down to roll over and play gently. This happy-go-lucky puppy can wear herself out with all that fun and then just plop down wherever she is, stretching out for a nap. While she's a cuddle bug at times, Simone doesn't sit still for long-she's always ready to get back into the action. She would thrive in a home with kids or other pets, though with enough attention, she could do well as a solo pup, too. Simone was rescued from the shelter with her brother, Stephen, and has come a long way since being full of worms and a bit skittish. Now she's a happy, healthy pup who's eager to learn and explore. She's not a big barker, though she can get a bit rowdy when toys are involved. She LOVES toys. Simone simply needs a loving home that can provide her with the attention and affection she craves and the training she needs and she will continue to grow into her fullest potential! Simone is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/21/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Stephen *Arriving 9/21*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Stephen, affectionately called "Fat Stephen" by his Texas foster, is a bundle of fun with a big personality. This playful pup loves nothing more than to have his tummy rubbed and to romp around with his sister, Simone. Stephen is curious, loves the outdoors, and is currently in his chewing phase, so he's always on the lookout for something to gnaw on-especially toys. This phase is typical for puppies his age and with consistent training he is working through it! Every morning, Stephen runs straight to wake up Penny, the family's 19-year-old mostly blind rat terrier, hoping to play. While Penny doesn't always appreciate his enthusiasm, Stephen is persistent and just wants to be everyone's friend. He and Simone are currently best friends, constantly playing and keeping each other entertained, so a home with another dog would be ideal for Stephen, though he would adjust well to a loving, active household even without a furry sibling. When it's time to come inside from playing, Stephen isn't in any rush-he loves to roll around in the yard and sometimes needs to be picked up to come in. He's got a habit of falling asleep in all kinds of silly positions, often on his back with all four legs in the air. Despite his energy, he enjoys being held for a bit, though he can't sit still for too long before he's eager to get back to playing. Stephen is not food aggressive, and while he might bark if Simone has a toy or treat he wants, he's generally not a big barker. His foster describes him as full of love and ready to find a home that gives him plenty of attention, a place to play, and lots of tummy rubs. Stephen would thrive in a home with a yard where he can explore and roll around to his heart's content! Stephen is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 9/21/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Betsy *Arriving 9/21*

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Betsy was found tied to a tree in Houston after someone decided they were done with her. She's understandably still cautious around new people, but once you've earned her trust, Betsy becomes a loyal companion and top-notch cuddler. She does well with other dogs after proper introductions and has been around children of all ages, though she seems to do best with older, more respectful kids. With her short legs and laid-back personality, Betsy isn't going to drag you on long hikes. Her ideal day is pretty simple: some yard time in the sun, food, and a good cuddle on the couch. Her sweet smile will melt your heart once she's comfortable. Betsy can bark at new stimuli but calms down quickly. A quieter home might suit her best, as she could get overwhelmed in a high-energy environment. All she really wants is a soft spot to call her own and someone to love! Is that you?! Betsy is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 09/21/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 4:30pm and 8pm.
