Finny

I am a very friendly cat. I was living outdoors on a horse farm, but there were predators so my former family sent me to Life Long Rescue to find a new indoor home. I am adjusting well to the cat sanctuary and get along well with all the other cats. I love to be petted, but I am not very fond of being held. I don't mind dogs, but I have never been around children, so I would do best in an all adult household. .

Peppermint Patty

July 5, 2014: As webmaster, I think I am allowed to say that Patty is just one of my favorites. She is so inquisitive and happy. Want to see her? Just go to the fence and call her name. She will romp over to you like an energetic puppy. it would be great to find this lovely girl a forever home. October 30, 2013: Patty was found as a stray pig. Just as people often “dump” dogs and cats, sadly this often happens with farm animals as well. And sometimes when farm animals escape from an enclosure, no-one misses them or bothers to look for them, and the animal is left to fend for itself wherever it ends up. Stray animals are not only in danger themselves, but also pose a threat to motorists who may try to avoid them on the road. With her spay surgery behind her now, Peppermint Patty is back from the OSU hospital and ready to find a permanent adoptive home of her own. Adoption fee: $100 If you would love to welcome Peppermint Patty into your home, apply at https://happytrailsfarm.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/happytrailsfarm/survey.jsp?surveyId=4&

Riley

RILEY HAS CANCER AND DESPERATELY NEEDS A FOSTER HOME! Riley has recently been diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and now needs a warm home and loving environment more than ever. Riley must be the only pet in an adult-only home and in a single family house so as to avoid close quarters with neighbor’s pets. He will probably take some time to bond again, but when he does, his loyalty is the real deal. As a foster family, AALOC will pay for all Riley's vet bills and medications. The team at AALOC will also be your support group for any questions or concerns you may have about Riley's care. You just need to provide Riley a safe and warm home, and the love and care he so desperately needs. Riley's story begins several years ago: It took several hours before anyone could corral Riley: he just could not believe his owner would abandon him behind AALOC. Riley just kept howling mournfully and would not respond to people who tried to get him to come towards him. He kept looking for his owner to come back for him - but they never did. Animal Control picked him up instead. No one claimed him, no one cared, except for one of our volunteers who made arrangements to have Riley come to AALOC. DNA testing reports that Riley is a Husky/American Staffordshire terrier mix and he weighs in at about 67 pounds. In general Huskies are intelligent, alert, outgoing, friendly and energetic. Typical traits of a Staffordshire terrier include tenacity, devotion, loyalty, attentiveness and courage. We think Riley demonstrates all of the above! Riley is a handsome, particularly smart dog that loves to play, go for walks, and meet new people. He is also a strong, quick dog that needs regular exercise of both his mind and body. Riley has been through special obedience training but still needs to be fostered by an experienced dog owner willing to provide the attention and patience Riley will need. Discipline and exercise, in conjunction with affection, is a must. If you feel you can provide the guidance and care Riley needs, please submit an application to foster Riley. Once your application is reviewed and approved we will contact you to make an appointment to visit us at AALOC to meet Riley and get to know him a bit. Or for more information regarding our foster program please email us at aaloc@aaloc.org.

Ally

Ally is a beautiful and sweet kitty. She enjoys a window seat as she is mesmerized by the birds and butterflies that flutter before her eyes. Then, Ally seeks out her hammock or a sunny place for an afternoon nap. Ally likes to keep all four paws grounded, she is not fond of being picked up and held; however, with time and patience you may be able to win her over. She welcomes head petting! Ally shows fear and discomfort from loud noises such as vacuum cleaners and thunder. A cat cube of her own would be ideal for her comfort zone. Ally’s ideal home is one with older children. She tolerates cats and dogs if they keep their distance. She loves Harvest Dental treats! Ally is 4 years old with a harlequin pattern (white w/large silver tabby patches). BENTLEY AND BABY--NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.

BABY AND BENTLEY are located in Thornhill Ontario. BABY AND BENTLEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Baby and Bentley are part of our long term foster program and are not available for adoption Baby and Bentley were surrendered to CCRT in mid-March 2016 and after much hard work and year-long observation, it is in the best interest of these bonded chihuahua siblings to enter our Long Term Foster program. These chihuahuas are not candidates for adoption and therefore will be cared for in the foster home to which they have become accustomed for the remainder of their years. Baby and Bentley are 3 years young. Their medical needs were attended to when they came under our care and have now both been spayed/neutered, brought up-to-date with their shots, microchipped and they have both had a dental. Baby and Bentley are well bonded to each other, however they do not interact with the resident chihuahuas in their foster home. Baby simply does not like other dogs in her space and warns them off with a growl, even after having lived together for the last year. Bentley tolerates the resident chis but will not interact nor play with them. Luckily, they find comfort in each other and for this, we are thankful. We have no idea what these two have experienced prior to coming under our care. We do know that they have a multitude of emotional and behavioural issues that are deeply rooted and proving very difficult to uproot. They both show signs of abuse. They are terrified of feet and sudden hand movements. If feet appear anywhere in their vicinity, if they note quick movement (hand or otherwise) or if either are touched unexpectedly, they scream. They flinch from any sudden movement and will cower, even when being handed a treat. It is extremely painful to watch them cower as they await their special treat, as they also seem to be awaiting something more sinister from the hands that gift the treats. Baby is a sweet little chi who wants to interact with people but her nerves get the better of her and she barks nervously when first approached. She pees submissively when nervous, excited, happy, anxious – almost any emotion will trigger submissive urination. This has not improved during her year in foster care. Bentley is also a sweet little chi but he is even more timid than Baby. Bentley also urinates in the home, however his is more purposeful. He is a marker (pees to claim territory/exert dominance) but thankfully responds to gentle verbal correction. Both of them have the habit of eating feces. Prior to being surrendered to CCRT, Baby and Bentley were kept in diapers in a confined area. It is no wonder that they adore their freedom to run around their foster home at their will! After a year of working with Baby and Bentley, it is in their best interest to continue to live in the home that has loved them for this past year and continues to try to build their confidence and gain their trust and teach them that humans come with loving hands (and feet). Their foster Mom is the only human who can pick Bentley up – if he is in agreement and doesn’t scurry away. When Bentley is picked up, he often screams in fear. His shrieks even prompted his foster family to take him to the vet on numerous occasions, believing he was in extreme pain. After many examinations by the vet and head-to-toe x-rays, it has been concluded that his screams are fear based. For these reasons, we welcome Baby and Bentley into our Long Term Foster program, after having been under our care for this past year. You can support Baby and Bentley by the purchase a sweater and/or blanket for them (or any of our other fosters dogs). You can support CCRT’s ongoing care of Baby and Bentley by becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel or by making a donation towards their care. IYou can purchase a sweater and/or blanket for them, or any of our other fosters dogs. Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our fosters by making a cash donation towards their care.
