Miriel A167998

Miriel A167998 39 lb. spayed female, approx 2 years old - Walks great on a leash - Likes treats, sometimes sits, takes them gently - Enjoys being close for pets and snuggles - Gives a few kisses - Toys don’t interest her currently - She’s super sweet! - Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids. Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30 BUT our adoptions are done 7 days a week from 10:30am -3:00pm. The last potential adopter must arrive before 3:00 pm so we have time to properly help you before closing. 1431 E Ferry St. Detroit

Zip

Hi there! I’m Zip! I’m a fairly quiet guy who’s lookin’ for love in all the wrong places. I like to check in with you from time to time just to see what you’re up to and to perhaps get a couple scratches and pets.  I’m curious and friendly, and I get along with everyone! I’ll trot right up to you like a dog for some cuddles! I love to snuggle and sleep with you. I’ll pop in to say ‘hi’ periodically before going about my daily business, and I just really enjoy being with my people. I love to play and chase my siblings, we really love the nightly kitten stampede that goes on here in my foster home on a regular basis! I have been raised with lots of other kitties! I’m what you call a “low maintenance cat." I’d be good for newer cat owners, and we can grow together. I have never been dog or kid tested, but I think, with my outgoing nature, that I would probably do alright with the proper introduction.  I’m still looking for my perfect forever home, and I know I’ll know right away when the perfect people come my way! Kiki

Kiki recently experienced the death of her person and is (understandably) grieving. She is a resilient soul though and will get through this. She is looking for your love if you will offer it. Kiki is 5 years old and is a breeze to care for. She doesn’t mind being brushed or having her nails trimmed. She is a great litterbox user. She loves catnip. We don’t think Kiki has lived with other cats, but with a slow introduction, that might be possible. Kiki is a long cat, a beautiful tiger striped, and has black rings around her tail. She is temporarily being homed but really deserves a forever home soon.

Bruce

This little Shih Tzu has been passed around since his owner went back to Brazil and the breeder would not take him back. She apparently adopted him for the experience while she was in the US. His name is Bruce and he is 2.5 years old. He is seeking a foster home or adopter, preferably with no other dogs. He seems to be cat friendly, but a bit obsessed with the other dogs and protective of the other male in the house. We suggest he is an only dog for that reason. Bruce wants an owner he can sit near, sleep with and be the TOP dog. He will need to wear belly bands for a while until he learns not to mark. We think it is because of the other male dog in the house. He walks well on a leash and has not been kid tested. You can apply to foster or adopt Bruce at ricopetrecovery.org.

Drake

Sweet little Drake has been looking for his forever home since he was 2 months old when he came into our partner shelter in Alabama. He is now almost 6 months old. That's a long time for a puppy to be searching for their forever family. He has now arrived in Wisconsin and is settling into his foster home. He is working so hard on pottytraining but has had a couple of pee accidents. He is a very smart boy and we know he will catch on soon. He would love a family with a younger dog or two to play with. He does while a little in his kennel but he is getting better. Great with dogs and walks ok on a leash. Please help this sweet puppy find his forever family! Vinny

Vinny is potty and crate trained, but prefers to be with his people and can be vocal with his expectations if crated when there is love and snuggles to be had.. He loves to play with other dogs, but his tolerance for other 4-legged friends can wear thin at times, and he can get a little snippy. He loves all people young and old and really thinks he should just be at your side all the time.
