Ester

Ester is a wonderful 2 month old, purebred Australian Shepherd puppy who is gentle, sweet, and great with other dogs. She loves to play, but also enjoys taking cozy naps and getting belly rubs. Ester is unfortunately the product of bad, backyard breeding. She was bred as a double Merle which is known to produce blind and/or deaf puppies. Regrettably, Ester was born with both traits. The person that bred her, was planning to “dispose” of her because he thought she was unadoptable and so wasn’t worth anything to him. She seems to have some sight, but very little and is completely deaf. Ester however, does not seem to be aware that she has any defects at all. She eats, sleeps, plays & gets into mischief just like any other puppy. As expected, she has a phenomenal sense of smell and enjoys exploring and taking in all the sniffs. She’s able to find her way in the house from outside and she can find her foster mom wherever she goes. True to her breed, she’s is an intelligent puppy who is very trainable. She would make a great addition to any family, whether big or small! She is a loving and fun puppy who will bring joy to your life. Because of her condition, we would like Ester’s new family to either have experience with blind & deaf dogs or be fully committed to working with a professional trainer or doing the research necessary to be able to train Ester and offer her the enrichment she needs to have a full, happy, healthy life. Ester is microchipped, utd on vaccines, flea/tick & heart worm prevention. Her spay is included in her adoption fee. Submit the adoption application below if you would like this little floofball to be a part of your family. https://airtable.com/shrEp4oM8RJh0oUDp

Elsa *Meet me at Cottage Grove PetSmart*

If you are interested in any of the cats available at New Leash Rescue, please email adopt@newleashrescue.org for a cat application form. This pretty lady here is Elsa! She is sweet, friendly and ready to find her forever family! Elsa came to rescue as an owner surrender when her family could no longer care for her. She has no known encounters with dogs, so we are unsure of how she would react to one. She does well with cats when given slow, proper introductions. Elsa would make a purrfect addition! As part of the adoption process, vet references will be checked on past/current pets looking for history of routine exams, DHPP/FDRC and rabies vaccines. Adoption fee is $250 + tax (no checks) Email adopt@newleashrescue.org with questions. Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about an animals personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Gravy

Description Gravy is a tall and lanky teenager who has beautiful tabby markings on a very light tan background Personality Gravy is the friendliest and most outgoing kitty. He loves people, he loves other pets and he has just always been the most sweet and loving of his litter. He wants attention and will confidently come up to you to ask for it, but isn’t demanding about it. He was the largest kitten in his litter, and possibly the kitten who loves food. Gravy grew like a weed. He was also the most explorative and always looked for opportunities play with other kitties. Background Gravy and his 2 sisters, Groovy and Brady were found as 4 week old kittens in a backyard in SW Houston. Many cats live in a colony around there and a neighbor found the litter under their bushes. They kept pushing them under the fence into their neighbors yard, who they knew takes care of the outdoor strays. Dozens of cats have been brought to GNAR from that colony over 3 years and the caretaker neighbors took the 3 kittens to a GNAR foster home to be raised by hand.

Lukas

Lukas is doing really well. He seems to be settling into boarding better than a few weeks ago. He has done well during the last few intros we’ve done. Last week we introduced him to a dog at the fence and I could see him visibly relax during the course of that quick 5 minute intro. He just needs a proper introduction with any new dog. He followed Sitka around today. I think he likes him. Pretty even energy. Sitka needs a bit more “coming out of the gate” but that’s typical of boarded dogs. Lukas just seems pretty chill.
