Jasper

Meet this adorable fella named Jasper! Check out his adorable smile on his face! He and his siblings were brought into the shelter as stray on April 16, 2024 and were never reclaimed so they are now keeping their paws crossed that a wonderful adopter comes into the shelter to adopt them. They came in around 3 to 4 months old and are now current on shots. Sweet and handsome kitties who are so ready to begin their next chapter of life with a nurturing and loving person or family. Might you have the most perfect loving home for Jasper and maybe a sibling too. You know kittens do amazing in pairs. We have SO MANY cats & kittens arriving daily that it is hard to keep our Petfinder as up to date as we would like. So please, COME TO THE SHELTER and meet some of the wonderful cats that are up for adoption and open up your home to one or more kitties today! If you adopt a cat that is not already spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to help cover the cost of the surgery, and some vets honor the voucher 100%! Such a great deal -- while also saving a life!! All of our cats are tested for FIV as well as Feline Leukemia before being placed up for adoption. Not quite ready for the commitment of adoption but would love to contribute to the health and happiness of our feline fur babies? We'd very much appreciate some litter, or food (especially kitten food - Purina is their favorite!). Maybe you will have some time to snuggle and love on them while you're here. It makes their time here more enjoyable when they get extra love & attention. Also, we need volunteers & foster homes! Come to the shelter to apply! The shelter hours are Monday-Friday 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm (we close from 1pm-2pm for lunch), and Saturday 10am-4pm. Hope to see you soon!

Hawthorn

Hawthorn has the typical "chase first, ask questions later" kitten mentality with a sprinkle of shyness. While he's feisty while playing, he's more reserved when it comes to other interactions. When you first approach him, he'll keep a distance till he's sure he can take you on (double his size or not) but once you give him some pets and scritches he's putty in your hands and will roll right over for belly rubs (and what a cute belly it is!). Hawthorn is one of a large litter so he would do best in a home with another kitten or cat to play with him. He loves all the toys and has plenty of kittenish energy so older, cat savvy kids are a plus. We think he's perfect! Hawthorn will arrive in the PNW on May 18th. His adoption fee is $350 which includes neuter, microchip, and up to date vaccines. Interested? Please fill out this application. We reply to all inquiries so be sure and include a contact number capable of receiving text messages. https://form.jotform.com/222918954168064

Shrek Van Gogh

7 year old Shrek Van Gogh was part of a 30-cat colony in Jamaica Queens for 6 years. And if he looks like he ran security for them, that's because he probably did. But while he might give mob henchman vibes at first sight, under that apparent hard shell lies a super affectionate and timid softboy. Like any true gangster, it takes time for him to open up (think Tony Soprano) but when he does, you can be sure he'll have you in his heart forever. You will have to start him off in a closed playpen, get him used to the new sounds and atmosphere of the place. This will take 2 to 4 weeks approximately, depending on how much time you spend petting him and showing him that you're his safe space. He requires some effort for sure, but it's worth it! We named him Shrek Van Gogh after Shrek and Vincent van Gogh, because he looks like he both Shrek ears, but also doesn't really have ears... haha Shrek gets along great with all cats but we think he would be happiest with a kitty with a chill and loving personality. He can also be adopted solo.

Aloy- see video

Hi, my name is Aloy! I am shy at first, but once I've had time to warm up to a new home and feel safe, I love to explore all over the house, play with other cats, and watch small pets. I am in a foster home with pet mice and pet lizards and I enjoy watching them, but don't harass the small pets. I enjoy catnip A LOT! I become extremely playful and affectionate with some cat nip! Once I am safe and happy, I will love you deeply and be a very comfortable lap cat. Aloy is a healthy 3.5 year old DSH. She would do best in a quiet home. She is good with other cats. She would likely be okay with older kids. Dogs are unknown. Hello there, dog lovers! I'm Merle, a charming senior male, Chihuahua mix, aged 13 years and weighing a petite 10 pounds. As a work in progress with house training, I'm eager to learn and grow with the patient guidance of a loving family. I find solace in my kennel, where I feel calm and comfortable. Charlie

For more information or to apply for adoption please fill out an adoption application at www.marshallsdogrescue.com Charlie This gentleman is a luvbug who will wiggle his way into your heart. He loves to cuddle with you anywhere he can and loves to be petted. He would do well in any housing situation with or without children and/or other dogs. Charlie is a small Collie mix who is about 1 years old. He is neutered and vaccinated. People: He loves everyone he has met. He does not bark at people walking by the house when he is outside or when on walks. Children: He has not barked at or shown fear of children when he is tied outside or while on walks. The school bus stops at the end of our driveway. However, while he has not had close contact with children his foster family feels he would be OK around younger children because he does not get overly excited around people so most likely would not knock young children down with his excitement. Dogs / Cats: He likes every dog he has met out on our walks. He enjoys chasing and playing with his fur-brother. He has not been tested with cats. However, when he sees a squirrel in the yard he does show interest and tries to chase them. I am not sure he would know what to do if he ever did catch the squirrel. He might do OK with a dog-savvy cat. Barking: He is a fairly quiet dog. He barks when his fur-brother is barking at something otherwise he does not bark at people or dogs. Crate trained: He is crate trained. When he first arrived he did not enjoy going into the crate and would try to squirm his way out while you were trying to put him in. Now he will go into the crate with some guidance. It is still not his preferred place to be. That said, once he is in the crate he will settle without whining or barking and wait until you let him out again (even if you are in the other room). He sleeps in the crate at night. Independence / Separation: While he does love to cuddle with his people whenever he can, he will also happily lay on the sofa next to you or on the floor in the same room as you. He can be left alone in the crate if you need to go out for errands or work or if you need to be in another part of the house and are unable to watch him. He likes to hang outside and watch the world go by. Destructive: Over the two weeks he has been with his foster family, he has earned more freedom of movement within the house. When he first arrived he chewed some electrical wires that were near the sofa where my son (who fell asleep) was watching him. Since that time he has not chewed anything he was not supposed to chew. We still closely monitor him though while he is still learning the house rules and how to play with toys. He is capable of taking food off the coffee table if he is able to reach it. Toys: He is still learning how to play with toys. He does not know what to do with balls or stuffies so far but does understand chewing on bones and chew toys. House trained: He is house trained for the most part. If you miss his signals or his asks to go outside he may have an accident in the house. He asks to go outside by pacing and moving towards the door or he will come and put his head and paws repeatedly on you to get your attention. We are working on using the "potty bells" that hang on the door. He has never done his business in his crate. His foster family is using this to help him be successful with his house training. For example, if on our walk he starts to pace like he is going to have a poop but then does not have one, we will put him in his crate when we get home and try again in about 15 min intervals until he does poop. Walks: He loves to go for walks and he does not pull on the leash. He sits while you put his leash on to go outside. Car: He has gone for rides in the car. He looks out the window or curls up on the back seat. He has not attempted to jump over the seat or into my lap while driving. He does not appear to get car sick however, we have only been on short drives so far. Charlie has a lot of love to give and is looking for a family that feels the same way. If you are looking for a loving, loyal companion, Charlie just may be your guy.
