This beautiful one year old Boxer mix boy has a beautiful story and he needs a home. A mother was visiting her son's grave and for two weeks this pretty baby was lying beside it. She at first thought he probably belonged to someone, but after two weeks she decided to take him home. Her family named him Regents after the dorm her son occupied during his time at WKU. The mother got him neutered, all his vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and rabies shot. All was well until their original dog (who had belonged to the son) started nipping Regents and wanting to fight. The mom's first allegiance, of course, was to her son's dog, so we are helping Regents find his forever home. Our thoughts are that since the dog stayed by the son's grave, there was some divine intervention. The son was helping the dog find a home. Please call 270-339-9131 for more information. They previously lived with 3 young children and did fine. Their initial reaction to anything new or scary is to hide but they are both lovable purr-monsters when they are comfy and secure. Both could stand to lose a few pounds so we hope their new forever caretakers will invest in a healthy measured diet for them to prevent health problems that could develop if things aren't changedm All of our adoptable pets have their age appropriate vaccines, dewormer, feline leukemia and fiv test, spay or neuter surgery and a microchip. We have no public facility, but operate with a network of dedicated foster parents and volunteers. To respect the privacy of our foster parents we do require an approved application to visit any of our fostered animals.

This is his story: Homie was confiscated from his previous owner 5/16/22 after being found tied up in the yard with crippling injuries from "being hit by a car". He was brought to a rural shelter in San Diego,TX where he received no medical care for over a month. He was rescued by LCP on 6/14. After several weeks of acupuncture and laser therapy, Homelander is back on his feet! He has a slight gimp but manages well and is happy as can be, he runs and plays as if none of this horrific indecent happened. He's been incredibly quiet, respectful, loving, and mellow. He does not fear new people or passerby's. He adapts quickly and is resilient. He did great at a sleepover with a 7 yr old human. He kisses every human he sees. His kisses are clean, short, and sweet. He's ALL LOVE! He isn't extremely toy motivated but loves sitting outside on a picnic blanket taking in the sights and smells. He's great in the car and sleeps through the night. Despite it all he remains loving, calm and easy to train. Homie will be a very easy dog to add to a loving home. Homie is dog friendly but takes time to warm up. He would be best handled as a first dog so that he’s comfortable in a home before adding a friend. He has also been cat friendly but will need time and an experienced handler to be sure that remains the case. He prefers to give other animals their space so if they are on the same page, it’s likely they’ll get along after decompression and slow intros. It used to take him but half a second to fall in love with new dogs. Lately his shelter anxiety is getting the best of him and he’s a bit nervous around some dogs. He will need time and patience in a safe home before being introduced to new dogs. He has been great with MOST dogs he’s met. Some just take longer to trust! This dog was running loose for several days and very difficult to catch. He was fearful and evasive. Eventually, officers were able to corner him and get him leash.Once caught, he became submissive.With time, he is now very excited to go on walks and meet people. However, he still shows some nerves about getting leashed up. He gets frustrated and will bark at the leash, like he's trying to give himself a pep talk.He likes to roll in the grass and will give you a guilty stare if you stop rubbing his tummy.He loves treats and will take them from you so gently.Arrow seems to LOVE being outside - it is his one goal once he's out of his kennel - "outside, outside, outside".Arrow had a visit with a woman and her son (about 5 years old). Arrow did very well - knew his boundaries and didn't jump up. The little kid sat down and Arrow approached calmly and just licked him. Arrow was very well-behaved.He's quite anxious in his kennel - jumps up on the glass barking - but it's just to get your attention.Arrow had a meet and greet with a similarly-sized female dog. Their dog was very whiny and protective over her owners. Arrow did fantastic having a loose body the whole time and showed zero signs of aggression. He patiently waited his turn to be pet. He let their dog sniff him with no problem. Per Doggy Day Out Volunteer:This energetic pup has so much love to give and loved running around Huffiness Park. He also can jump unusually high. Arrow needs a forever home, he loves to play, as a matter of fact he has a passion for it! Does not like care rides, makes him very anxious.Likes to jump up on people and playfully nip at them- will need training to curb these unwanted behaviors. Per Second Doggy Day Out Volunteer:He is such a sweet dog! He loves being outside and being pet. Arrow doesn't pull much on the leash once outside, and doesn't bark when walking past other dogs. He isn't super food or toy motivated but definitely loves body contact/being pet and is a big people person!He is still a little nervous around/getting into cars but once in them he does great!
