This handsome fellow is Jackson! Jackson is an approximately 3-year old male Labrador mix and weighs around 70 lbs. He was rescued from a small rural shelter in Oklahoma. Jackson is so sweet and affectionate (maybe a little too affectionate for small children). He is a strong boy. He is such a goofy boy and just wants to love you! His best life would be with an active individual or family to help him burn energy and get his playfulness out, then he is a mellow boy ready to just relax and be by your side. Adequate exercise is essential for his success. He would be happy to run, walk, or hike with you. Jackson plays with an assortment of dogs in doggy daycare, but a playful dog close to his size would be ideal. He loves to play with other dogs, but he is also very people orientated, so in the right situation (active home, with plenty of exercise), he would be fine as an only dog. He is crate-trained, keeps a clean kennel in boarding, and would do best with an Easy Walker type harness and leash. He rides very well in the car. Hello, my name is Lita, and I came to Cuz I Matter Animal Rescue on 10/14/2021. Even though I am about 1 year old, I am still a playful puppy at heart. I am housetrained, walks well on a leash and am learning how to play fetch. I can be shy at first but I do love the company of humans and some dogs. My foster mom says I am very smart and would likely enjoy more training especially if snacks are involved. I did test positive for heartworms in October and completed my treatment in December, so now I am free of those worms, but it is important for me, and for all dogs, to be on heartworm preventative. Samson is a quirky and intelligent dog, who has been at PAWS for over 2.5 years in search of his forever home. Sammy has come a very long way since arriving at PAWS! He has a big personality and is incredibly intelligent, so he does best with a routine and clear expectations. He has been working diligently on training with his Pet Partner, and he is doing very well! (Samson's adopters will be equipped with a professional training package through our Good Dog Fund.) Samson has also been living in a foster home with his Pet Partner for about a year now. Due to some resource guarding (and food stealing) behaviors, Samson needs a proper home setup that doesn't allow him access to the kitchen or any people food. With the proper setup in his foster home, he is thriving! Samson loves to go on walks and walks well on leash. He loves to play with toys - his absolute favorite are his tennis balls - he'll play fetch for hours! Samson is very food- and toy- motivated, which helps with getting out his energy and also with his training. Samson is both housebroken and crate trained. He is comfortable and content in his crate while his foster is at work, and he also sleeps in his crate through the night. He is also muzzle trained, which comes in handy for bath time and vet appointments! Sam loves to play with some other dogs and loves to wrestle! Any potential doggy siblings or friends would need to match his energy and play style, otherwise they may be annoyed by him. He is also plays too rough to live with any cats. Edith is skittish at first and will let you pet her once she has learned to trust you   Edith is more active at night and tends to play when it is quiet in the home with a ball and her foster brothers. She is a pretty calm and docile cat after she has settled into a home. Cassie's owner was homeless and realized that he had to give her up for her sake. She was frightened in the shelter initially, but warmed up to the staff fairly quickly. When our volunteer went to meet her, all Cassie wanted to do was sit next to her and be petted. She will not be available until after she is spayed in Mid-April. Sonny was adopted from us and we are not sure what happened, but he came back as a stray. We were told his adopters had him tied up outside , but we really have no idea of his situation ( he will not go back there). He is now looking for new home where his situation will be better. Sweet, friendly boy who is 3-4 years old, UTD with shots, dewormed, neutered , heartworm negative and microchipped. Active boy with a good bit of energy and would be good companion for an outdoor type person. Not great with other dogs, so he does need to be the only dog.

Porridge is a senior 60-pound Golden Retriever mix who is currently in foster in South Austin. Porridge is a low-energy, low-maintenance, relaxed kind of guy. He would do best as an only pet, but he has coexisted with cats for short stints and he does great ignoring other dogs on his walks! He's just there for the walkies and the new smells. He's not a clinger at all. He's happy just hanging out in the house, and will come to you when he's ready for affection and pets. Porridge loves to explore new places and sniff all around. In a past outing walking with a smaller dog he did really great. He's a really nice easygoing sidekick. Like many dogs, Porridge would not do great with small children, as he needs people to respect his space. Porridge loves treats and does a very adorable "sit" and "paw" for them. He has some unfortunate notes from times when he was under extreme stress, including during the snow-pocolypse of 2021. He needs an adults-only home. He likes everyone but has some touch sensitivity, and kids may not remember to be careful about that. He doesn't love being crated, but he is non-destructive when left out and settles into routines quickly. He hasn't tried stealing food even when it's right at his face height. Gracie was living in a hoarding situation but it's not the usual hoarding situation we normally see or think of. She was living in a home that was very over crowded and she didn't have a lot of room to move around. If you are looking for an independent kitty who knows exactly what she wants, Gracie would make a great addition to your home. She is super affectionate and friendly, and loves walking all around and rubbing up against you, almost like she's making up for lost time. She does not like to be be picked up and would prefer to come and see you when she wants attention. She enjoys being pet and when she has had enough she will let you know. Gracie has been with us for awhile and would be so happy to have a home where there is room to run around and where she can just be herself.
