2nd update April 2022-BEE has had a set back. He's still a warrior though. BEE was diagnosed with Calicivirus. Most likely he's had Calici all along however it was dormant. Poor BEE, he's been struggling on and off with so many issues. we fear this newest issue is hard on his tiny body. Think good thoughts for BEE while try to do what we can get him stronger once again.
Update April 2022 ~ BEE is an interesting character, a wise old man. BEE had another dental cleaning and three more extractions. He is back on prednisone. After finishing a round of antibiotics he continues to have some wheezing. He was taken for a mouth swab in hopes we get a handle on what is causing him to wheeze. BEE's appetite is off and on. He hasn't lost weight which is good. BEE lost his roommate Samantha. She was a beautiful tabby, about 16 years old or so. She was with BEE for only a very short time, however there isn't a rule for falling in love and BEE loved her. See Fauna's facebook page or email us for photos, your heart will melt. BEE is still available for adoption or fostering. PS: we just celebrated the one year anniversary of BEE being rescued from death row at the shelter! WAY TO GO BEE!!
Update Jan 2022- A thank you to the people who have sent a little love BEE's way. All of the donations you send to sponsor BEE go 100% towards his care.
If you want to send your email address to : thefaunafoundation@yahoo.com I'd be happy to send you updates about BEE on a regular basis. A sponsorship donation comes in for BEE we'd truly like to acknowledge your gift. He's a special boy and we are overwhelmed by the support for BEE. Kind words and thoughts are what truly makes a difference.
Photo update- changed out one of the photos to show BEE after a bath! He actually loves getting a bath and is always spunky and energetic afterwards.
BEE, he knows exactly what he wants! The other day he decided he'll now let his foster mom know exactly where to pet him, he gently tapped her hand when she stopped petting his head and was petting his body, he then meowed his order-"start petting my head again!" BEE LOVES to be combed or brushed. He's a mighty strong PURR monster. We can see he's getting older, he's still fighting-some days he'll eat 2 1/2 5 oz cans of food, or more! With BEE there is always something new happening, we now think he might have a chicken allergy-to avoid another vet visit-he doesn't like going but once he's there he's as good as gold-we've started focusing on beef as his protein source. We know that seafood causes BEE tummy upsets. Chicken might be a problem or he was having an off day. BEE's foster mom works from home so BEE gets a lot of attention, he's happy to be an office supervisor. BEE is still available for adoption or long-term foster to the right home.
UPDATE: if you've been following BEE, you might be interested to know BEE did have a teeth cleaning and three extractions, all of this was preformed under light sedation. BEE is very elderly and faces a few challenges health wise so we are taking a very conservative approach to his teeth/mouth issues. We are putting BEE back on metronidazole. Currently he's become picky about his food. One day only baby food, then he'll eat only kitten food for several days, then prescription food, then only Fancy Feast Chicken and Liver pate. That guy!! He just keeps us guessing.
BEE!!! He's an amazing cat. Very friendly and super relaxed. He only wants to sit in your lap and get loves.
Bee was rescued 15 minutes before he was scheduled to be euthanized at a local shelter. Something about this guy pulled at our heartstrings and we raced off to save him. And we haven't regretted for a minute coming to his rescue.
Bee was suffering from chronic diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy and breathing problems. His initial exams with our vets indicate he has inflamed intestines, some dental/mouth issues and possibly some skin issues, however the inflammation has decreased since he's been in our care. Due to the medication he's on Bee no longer is vomiting and his bowel movements are now normal. Bee's blood has come back pretty good- no diabetes, no kidney disease. However he does have high globulin , might be due to his bad teeth. We hope once his bad teeth are removed his next blood panel will show excellent results.
Bee LOVES attention, he likes to sit or lay in your lap and get lots of loves. He's an explorer. Bee likes long naps. Bee has meet other kitties in his foster home and hasn't shown any aggressive behavior-simply curiosity. BEE loves to play with toys, more than anything BEE loves attention! He has hearty appetite as well.
We'd love a foster or adopter who would be able to keep on top of Bee's treatment plan. The love he still has to give is so worth the effort. When we took Bee in he was in terrible shape, however he has a warrior spirit and has been working on getting healthier and stronger day by day. He continues to surprise us with the beast within him that just wants to live a normal cat life. PS: he loves to lay in the sun so if you have a room which receives a lot of sun during day, especially a wide swath where BEE could have a bed or blanket and enjoy the warmth, we know BEE would be very content.
