Daisy

Daisy oh Daisy, give me your answer do, we're half crazy, over the love of you! daisy is a sweet girl, she's loving and very gentle. Shes been with us for two years because when she came to us originally she had severe demedex mange, Altho we were able to get her mange under control, shes still very scarred around her face which a lot of people dont like, Its a shame people cant see past her scars to see the loving sweet girl she is. Daisy is around 5 years old, we do not know her exact age as shes a rescue. She appears to be a Bluenose Pittbull. She weighs around 60lbs. Daisy needs a home with no other pets. She tolerates dogs on a walk as long as they dont get pushy or get too playful or try to dominate her, then she gets cranky. So to give her a home where she can have no stresses, we recommend her as a one dog only home.

Moxie

Moxie is such a brave little girl. She spent some time in foster but she just wasn't thriving. Then we got hit with the news...Moxie had FIP! We took the opportunity to jump on the FIP Warriors 5.0 site to learn more about a new treatment that was saving hundreds of lives. After a successful fundraiser, Moxie had her first treatment. As I'm writing this she is on day 48 of an 84 day regimen and her bloodwork is amazing. She shows no sign of having it!! Fingers crossed !!! 6/30/2023 Moxie is very social. Remember she is now blind so home adjustments may be needed. Please fill out our adoption application by opening this link: https://surfcatcafe.org/adoption-application/

Sugarbear

ISO a patient, kind, soft handed, understanding and forgiving experienced adopter for the most unique and special boy. Sugarbear, AKA Sugarbutt, Sugarybooty, Sugar Booboo, Sugar Bewwww (said in super high pitched voice) is such a very special boy. This hunky, handsome guy was rescued from a hoarding situation in Kentucky along with over 30 other dogs who all made their way to various rescues and then to loving furrever homes. Sugar is kind of one of the unfortunate ones. He will most likely be one of the last ones (if he’s even lucky enough) to find a home. You see, Sugarbutt was born blind, crammed in with other dogs in an outside enclosure his first year or two of life with minimal human contact and that took its toll on him. Sugar is scared of the world around him. It’s been vastly changing and he has limited ways to observe the new and intimidating things surrounding him. He just doesn’t know how to keep himself safe. What I do know about Sugar is a few things: Sugarbutt needs a quiet home with no children or other pets. Sugar needs a home with a person who is very familiar with dog behavior and body language and have the experience to read him and know when he is upset or feeling anxious and the ability and knowledge of how to respond accordingly. (Ie. back away and give him space, how to safely control the situation, how to handle a dog who is fearful) He needs an owner who is savvy with dogs and willing to commit to some hard work. Sugar boo boo needs the right environment and person to make the right impact on his life. Sugarbutt will be tough to adjust. It will probably always be a good idea to keep him kenneled at night. He will not do well with other dogs or cats around and most likely will never be able to live with them. Sugar will need to be 1000% kept away from children and younger teenagers. If you’ve made it this far you get the good stuff… Sugar will be the most loyal dog you’ll ever find. He will teach you brand new lessons on resilience and overcoming obstacles. He will show you joy and happiness every time he hears your voice. You will learn how just the simplest things can make the biggest difference and that even when you are down on yourself, just your voice alone means the world to at least that one silly little dog. He steals everything. Like everything. Blankets, towels, pillows, toys, treats, anything he can… He has a all time favorite possession that traveled all the way up from Kentucky with him, his red bucket named “Bucky” that he takes everywhere with him except when he’s out thieving around. His fur feels like silk and his kisses are sweeter than candy. Every day he is finding new ways to adjust and be happy. He has just as much love to offer as any other dog out there. Now we know that we are looking for a diamond in the rough but were looking and do believe somewhere out there is the right person. If I’m crazy enough to love him there’s got to be at least one more out there that will. If you have read to this point, I appreciate that you have given this darling bony this much of your time. I know that everyone wont be the right fit. And that’s ok, were all different and our own unique needs. But what I ask of you is that even if he is not the right fit for you, maybe you know someone who is and you can help make that connection. Maybe that long lost friend watching the post roll by on Facebook or Twitter is that right fit. Maybe Sugarbutts next owner is somewhere in your circle of friends or contacts. I’m asking even if you can’t take in a special needs dog to please help give Sugar a chance to make it out of the shelter but sharing his story. Share this link with anyone that you can and ask them to please share it too. We will search high and low and exhaust all resources we can to find this boy an escape. We are always here to offer our adopters continued support for the life of the pet and do anything we need to to make the transition for you and your new pet the smoothest we can. Please help us get Sugarbear a home!

Chato

Chato found himself at Chicago Animal Control, abandoned by the family he had been loyal to his entire life. He was in very bad shape and appeared to be very old due to the neglect he suffered. His skin was terribly infected and hope of ever finding love and happiness had been extinguished from his eyes. We could not let this cute Pocket Pittie die without knowing the kindness of a human touch or that every day does not need to be filled with fear and mistreatment. Once pulled from Animal Control, Chato knew instantly that he was safe and life would be better….and it sure was!! Chato’s medical needs were immediately addressed, his skin issues were resolved, and his spirit slowly returned. Today, Chato is a silly little pup, recovered from his past, and looking to continue to live the happy healthy life he so deserves…..with a family of his own. Chato is just 4-5 years old, and weighs about 35lbs…..tiny for a Pitbull! He is very playful and spirited, and loves being with people. He enjoys cuddling and definitely being petted too! He takes treats gently, and sits nicely for them. He is housebroken and is eager to please! Chato is sure to make a wonderful addition to any family worthy of him!! Chato walks nicely on a leash; he does not react when he sees other dogs out and about. However, Chato does need to be an only dog; he’s not fond of sharing his home with other four-legged creatures…dogs or cats!! An ideal home for Chato is with a family with significant Pitbull experience, but having no other dogs currently ; Chato absolutely deserves to receive all the attention for himself. He’d love a fenced yard and deserves a family willing to spend time with him and include him in all family activities. Chato may enjoy the company of older children but younger children may be too much for him. Chato is fully vetted, up-to-date on all vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and heartworm negative/on year-round heartworm prevention. A solid, verifiable vet history for all past pets is required for all adopters of BAARK Dogs. If you are interested in adding Chato to your family, please email BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or call 847-852-0895 for an adoption application.

Alberto

Alberto is a high-energy dog's dog. He isn't interested in being YOUR soulmate, but instead your DOGS best friend. If you're looking for a dog to wear your dog out...this may be the fella! Alberto REQUIRES a high-energy, playful FEMALE dog who can handle his rough play. He will submit to dominant female dogs and does best in a scenario where the other dog is the leader. He can be pushy with food, and will try to eat another dog's but given that the dog can tell him "no," he will back off. He has shared many food dishes with female dogs without incident. He is great with all people, but for most, will wear you out if not given the opportunity to expel his endless energy. We don't recommend him for children under the age of 12 simply because he may knock them over with his energy when excited. He does know basic commands like "sit" but will only listen to people whom he respects as a leader. He goes great with his senior caretaker and never jumps on her. A fenced yard REQUIRED. Alberto is NOT a good candidate to take to dog parks due to his dislike of many male dogs. He needs the safe confines of a fenced, secure yard to run multiple times throughout the day. For those interested in formal training--he *could benefit from training using positive reinforcement tactics ONLY. A pinch, prong, choke or electric (e-collar) is NOT acceptable for ANY dog, and especially not a dog like Alberto. The benefit of training would be to ensure basic adherence to household commands. In the right setting he will follow the lead of another dog and pick up any skills they have-in terms of manners. Adoptions inquiries require completion of our adoption survey BEFORE meeting the dog; private message www.facebook.com/allspecieskinship to inquire for a survey. If you do not have Facebook, please email: allspeciesk@gmail.com. ADOPTION PROTOCOL: If you look like a good fit on paper, we will arrange an in-person meet n'greet (required on your property). ***We require properly fitted & worn masks and social distancing at all times***

Oreo-Bonded Pair w/ Snickers

BONDED PAIR! Date of Birth: July 2014 Snickers (Tortie) and Oreo had been living in a Highland Park complex for several years. Some of the people who worked there were kind to them, and fed them, but others who worked there did not like them and at times made their already sad kitty lives even sadder. Both kitties are understandably shy when they meet someone new; once they get to know you they are very friendly and affectionate; Oreo loves belly rubs and Snickers starts to purr as soon you pet her. Both have had exams and blood work, and are very healthy. They are micro chipped and have been vaccinated. These 2 girls are very bonded and need to continue to live together, so if you think you could be their forever human, they would be very happy about that!
