Colin

Hi everyone, I’m Colin! I was rescued from a horrible neglect situation in Birmingham, AL. Some kind people saw me in a backyard, chained to a tree in 11-degree weather and starving, and got help for me. Animal Control took me to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, and then my foster family came to get me! I have made so much progress learning how to be an inside dog and have really gotten used to life off a chain. I currently live with 4 rescued Italian Greyhounds who have taught me how to be a loved and valued family pet! Now I think I’m a 12-pound lap dog and just want to climb in your lap for affection. I also live with a cat, and we get along great! My foster siblings have also taught me to enjoy dog things like getting to run free in a fenced back yard and playing with toys. Now I get to have zoomies whenever I want and prance around showing off my favorite squeaker toy while my happy propeller tail wags! It’s a pretty cool feeling! When I was first rescued, I was very scared. I was emaciated, anemic, covered in fleas, itchy, and had worms in my heart and belly; But, my foster home gave me lots of love and patience, and helped me get better both inside and out. I received medicine for my parasites and started my heartworm treatment! I have gained weight and I feel so much happier and healthier now. In just a few weeks I went from hiding in a corner, afraid to be touched, to following my foster mom everywhere. She LOVES me and wants to make sure I go to a home that will be kind and gentle with me. She knows that I have been through a lot, and I need someone who understands me. I am a 2.5-year-old, 60-pound, neutered pittie mix. I have all my shots and I am almost done with my heartworm treatment, but I will need to be on heartworm prevention for the rest of my life. I am great with other dogs, kids and even cats! But because I am big and playful and don’t realize my strength, I would do better with kids 12 and older so I don’t knock anyone down. I know “sit” and “wait” and I’m working on my leash skills. I can be a little pully but can be corrected easily. I am potty and crate trained but still learning to like my crate. I have some separation anxiety and don’t like to be without my people; However, once I’m in my crate, I settle quickly and do fine. I have a special escape proof crate that was purchased for me by a kind group of ladies and it will come with me to my new family if they need it. I can be a bit shy of strangers at first. I will growl a little, but my tail is still wagging. I just need some time to trust you and make sure you aren’t going to hurt me. If you give me a treat, I will be your best friend! I love to be called “good boy” and I will wiggle my whole butt like a windmill when you give me affirmations. I am being fostered in Birmingham, AL but can be transported to other states for the right adopter. If you think I’m the goodest boy for you, please fill out an application today! *Must be 21 or older to apply.

Gael

Meet Gael! Gael entered Chula Vista Animal Care Facility as a stray, and when he wasn't claimed, we scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on February 21st. He is estimated to be 15 years old. Gael is a sweet boy who asks for uppies and likes to curl up in our laps and take naps. Gael went on an outing with volunteers and two other little Frosted Faces to a local park, and he had a great time walking and sniffing. When a volunteer scooped him up and put him in her sweatshirt for snuggles, he was a cozy happy little guy. We bet he would love to ride in sling! Little Gael is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, and we're so glad he is getting extra TLC in the cozy comforts of a home. We received a great first update from his Fling Mom: "Gael is possibly the most confident fella I've ever come across. He is completely comfortable and confident with my big dogs, my young small dogs, and my cats. Gael seems to attach to one person, and that person is my daughter. He decided she was his in the play yard at FFF, and he hasn't changed his mind despite me being the one that feeds him and takes him potty. He can't wait to get back to her. Gael is a great little walker. For supposedly being 15, he is in GREAT SHAPE! He walks great on leash, springs up onto high curbs no problem. If he's 15, he's a young 15. Gael is also a foodie! He is a great eater and a perfect pooper. Gael is getting sweeter by the day." Check back soon for the next update from Gael's Fling!

Murphy

If you are interested in adopting this pet, please go to hwhanimalrescue.com to download and complete the required adoption application. Email the application along with any questions to info@hwhanimalrescue.com. Hi my foster family says my name is Murphy, but foster mom calls me big guy most of the time. I am almost 13 weeks old and they think I’m a golden retriever, chow, collie mix, but that’s a guess due to my fluffy coat and size. I sleep great at night in a crate with my brothers and love snuggling and playing with them and all the dogs in the house. Food is a favorite of mine, I have my own bowl and try to share with my brothers but I’m told no. I love getting these little treats when I potty outside. The more I do it the more treats I get. I also use the pads in the kitchen but no treats then, something to think about. I really love 1:1 time with my foster mom, she rubs my ears and face and tells me how lovely and gentle I am for such a big pup. Someday she says I’ll have my own family to give me all their attention, I can’t wait to meet them!!!

Wifi

Introducing Wifi! This handsome boy is a 2 year old, 22 pound Chihuahua mix looking for his forever home. Wifi is a ladies man at heart and loves to be a social butterfly saying “hi” to everyone he meets. He’s calm, loves to cuddle on the couch and would be the perfect pup to take with you to a coffee/lunch outing with friends. When he isn’t sun bathing or sleeping on his back with his feet up in the air, he’ll wander over to his toy basket and lay down chewing on some toys. You may even find him running around chasing a tennis ball for a few minutes. Wifi was found looking for food on the streets in Puerto Rico. He was picked up by a Good Samaritan, taken to a veterinary clinic for some much needed TLC and then brought to our sister shelter in hopes that we could find this sweet boy his forever family. Give Wifi a chance to show you his heart melting skills!
